Review Brothers Beer Orakei - Remuera

Great place for sharing with friends, nice music and location. The meat platter just blew my expectations, GREAT brisket, ribs that auto peel of the bone and aromatic chicken wings. Paired it with a testing paddle, well rounded options, surprised by the Wet&Wild, but hail to the king Coffee Stout! Totally recommend šŸ¤˜

We recently held a sewing and fundraising event at Brothers Beer, the Orakei location. The management team were great to deal with, very accommodating, and everything ran smoothly on the day of the event. Our guests had a great time, enjoyed their refreshments and platter nibbles, and we are looking forward to holding more events at this location in the future. Wonderful location & team!

Great place! We brought our kids and it was extremely kid friendly. Our offer took a while (an accident on their part) but we didn't mind at all because there was plenty for the kids to do, and comfortable seating. They also gave us a complementary appetizer because we had to wait! Very good place.

The decoration was pretty cool. We ordered the naked lamb and fresh salads with pulled pork using GrabOne. The smokehouse salad and pulled pork was pretty tasty. However the surface of naked lamb was a little bit dry. It might be because we didn't order any sauce. The staff was friendly.

Came back to Juke Joint just for the 2 for $38 entree; 5 beef balls something and 5 macaroni balls something. So tender and delicious. Theyā€™re so good together. Didnā€™t need a main dish. First time trying their desserts and oh my life it was amazing. The warm cookie was indeed warm and perfectly baked. The apple and peach crumble was beautiful too. I do wish I requested another scoop of ice-cream. One scoop was just not enough. Iā€™m a sweet tooth, so their desserts was A++

Superb place ! Absolutely loved it.great atmosphere and great crowd. The beers are simply awesome and the food is nice. Chicken burgers are totally awesome. Loves the interiors and the tractor on the side. Kids also had an amazing time. Great place for brunch or some drinks with friends and family ! Highly recommended.

It was a very busy Fathers Day Sunday when I ventured into try this new iteration of dining space behind Brothers Beer, as I was a fan of the previous OBB and The Barnacle eateries so I was most pleased to see so many people and families present. The chaos of getting a seat and navigating to order at the counter was challenging however staff was friendly and composed despite the dense patronage. Whilst Iā€™m not a fan generally of Southern BBQ, I was most excited to try the collared greens and jackfruit as these are staple soul food dishes often mentioned in American movies about the south. I absolutely loved my side dishes as these over exceeded my expectations and the collared greens reminded me of a homely bacon bone boil up. The buttermilk chicken was nice whereas the pulled pork sandwich was amazing! The meat was succulent, tasty and full of vibrant flavours and textures with tangy sweet pickles, crispy slaw and unctuous juicy pork. It was heavenly! Juke Joint was a fantastic food experience and beckoning repeat visits!

A great place to go for a few beers and food while kids play. We go every weekend, and have been taking our kid there since she was born. Ujjwal is part of the family and is the absolute best! Highly recommend east bay people make this their regular spot!

It was my first time here. Nice and friendly staff, nice ambiance, Very tasty food. They have different offers for different days. For instance, 50% off meals, free meal size upgrades (pork ribs and wings) and 10$ 2hrs chicken wings (wings tasted really good). One offer per day. They have their own beers on tap in different types. Overall it was a nice experience.

I celebrated my birthday there and it was great. They reserved a massive area for us, made sure we had everything we need all the time. Service and food was amazing. Definitely recommend! Thank you so much

We were excited when Brothers Beer Orakei opened. Finally weā€™d have some decent craft beer close to home. If the original Brothers in City Works Depot feels like sitting in someoneā€™s garage in the 70s, Brothers Orakei feels like that friend/relative whoā€™s put a bar in their large shed - but cleaner. Brothers is great for a craft beer lover. Thereā€™s always something interesting and new to try. Today we went for a red IPA, which was on the maltier side than weā€™d usually choose, but we decided to have something a little different. If you canā€™t decide (me, every time) there are free tasting ms to help you choose. Brothers has expanded into the space formerly known as Orakei Bay Bistro and before that, The Barnacle. Itā€™s now become Juke Joint, same as their Mt Eden outlet. The old burger menu is gone, replaced by slow-cooked BBQ meats and sides. Burger lovers fear not, as the sandwiches are pretty much burgers. Weā€™ve had the lamb, the beef brisket, pastrami and the sausage (last 2 pictured) which were all very tasty. Brothers is a great place to go if you love craft beer and/or BBQ meat in unpretentious surroundings.

Service and the place itself were great. Nice spot and beers were good. Sadly the food wasn't great. Ribs and wings were both really tough and seemed like they had just been reheated. The ribs were genuinely difficult to eat. Sides were decent but the meats were a real let down. Disappointing as the menu looks great.

What a nice outlet to dine in. A lot more seating compared to the Mt eden outlet. Has a cosy outdoor area, if your not lucky enough to get a seat outside inside is nice a spacious. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Food was okay. I thought it lacked that smokey bbq flavour and seemed the food was more cooked in the oven? Other than that food was cooked well and tasty. Lamb ribs were tender fall of the bone and fatty if thats what your into.
Prices and portion sizes are okay. Family friendly so good place to take the kids.

Staff where friendly as. On the plus side, the English and French guy behind the bar know their stuff and let us taste a few to suit our hoppy needs.

Very welcoming place for a few scoops of your finest ales.

Came in yesterday (sunday lunch) with my husband and our 2 year old. At first, I was impressed of their play area fpr the kids. We chose to sit at the table closest to it so we can keep an eye on our little one. Unfortunately, it was dirty and hasn't been cleaned yet. There was a spray bottle and a cloth on the bench but nobody cleaning it. There were 2 bartenders around and both just gave us a stare and looked away. No greeting, no acknowledgement, nothing. We waited for about 15 minutes for someone to clean the table and attend to us. But nobody came. Place wasn't even packed. Probably 3-5 tables and some of them are just paying or buying beer. We got tired of waiting so we left really disappointed and took our business to
Ampersand, an eatery just across it, where we got excellent service. I worked in hospo for 10 years so I am very familiar with SOPs of customer service and Brothers Beer was definitely a disappointment.

Good beer. Solid food. Cool space! Came here for a couple beers after work and it satisfied those cravings! Fish burger was a real star of the meal!

An ok place to hang out for a beer or two with your mates and conveniently located close to the train station and right next to the busy Orakei Rd.Ā Service was average and the finger food we ordered was way too salty, as if they wanted us to order more beer to counter the salt in our mouths. I probably won't be back again unless I have to.

The only reason it gets two stars is because the food was nice. Went as a party of six, four of the meals came out and then there was a 15 minute wait until the remaining two were served. By this time, the other four meals had gone cold. There was no apology after alerting it to staff, and even then the food still took a while to come out.

An ok place to go to, if youā€™re looking for somewhere for a drink slightly out of town, a wide range of craft beers, some finger food, with free parking and isnā€™t too noisy. But why does somewhere that serves beer close at 10pm? We only managed to spend an hour there, as an after dinner spot :(

First time Iā€™ve been to this Brothers outlet, having frequented the one at City Works many times (and enjoying it). Overall I really enjoyed the experience having enjoyed a tasting paddle with 6 different varieties of craft beer across the Brothers range and guest tap beers. I had the pork belly burger, sans buns with lettuce for a no bun option. The pork belly was excellent with hosin sauce, kimchi and salads. Went well with the tasting platter and was a throughly enjoyable situation in a lovely bright and wonderfully retro decorated spot in Orakei. Will be coming again soon!

Brothers has a great selection of beers on tap and by the bottle. The staff are always willing to let you try before you buy which is excellent for someone like me who finds it hard to choose! The burgers are pretty good, and the fries are great. It's always busy and hard to find a seat!

Went here for a family lunch on Sunday. The decor is very retro! Loved the reggae music.
The beer is expensive for the amount you get. However, the staff are willing to give free you tastings. They only serve burgers and fries-so, if you're not a burger person, give it a miss! The burgers are all $18. I personally, thought my cheese burger was Ho hum. My Dad had the Mussel and Pork burger and he said it was extremely Salty. I thought the staff were great but their pricing needs to be revised, before I'd rushing back.

This outlet only opened for a few months. Good points 1st. (1) Good location with quite a few carpark (which share with other establishments within the Orakei Bay Village); (2) A wide variety of craft tap beer (18 to be exact); (3) Quite a lot of out door sitting.; (4) Service is excellent. Very attentive and friendly.

Not-so-great points (1) Very expensive. Beer ranges from $9 to $10.50 depending on alcohol content. The beer not even a pint as seen in the picture; (2) Food menu only contains fries and 6 type of burger. Nothing else! My thinking is they need more variety; (3) No heater outside at all. When sitting outside, with this kind of weather (winter time), is quite cold.

I suppose this place is a good drinking place in the summer, or when it's not so cold.

Awesome team of staff with an impressive selection of beers!! Love coming in here and trying the new seasonal beers and having a good yarn with the staff! Cheers team!

The food was really good , I am not a big burger person but this was just spot on I had your fish buger and although that was really good you could also serve the fish in its own because the fish was so good, then you could have a little more variation on the food, but overall the food was amazing.
