Review Bluejay's - Remuera

Dropped in here for a quick coffee and also enjoyed. A lovely date scone. Pleasant surroundings and nice staff. Cost $$ Recommended. What you cannot see in this photo is that the coffe came with a toasted marshmallow which was very yummy and went well with the coffee.

Do yourself a favour, eat here, enjoy the wonderful people, the delicious food, the sharing and inventive tapas menu is overwhelmingly good. If you're a traveller or a local, it's a true home away from home.

We were made to feel welcome the moment we stepped in the door, lovely staff, very helpful and friendly. We sat in the covered garden area out back, really nice. Heaters were on, blankets available, comfortable seats (bonus!). Comfortable atmosphere :) I had the salmon eggs bene with their home-made hollandaise, I want the recipe. Good amount of salmon too. My sister had the wild mushrooms, said they were absolutely delicious, best flavours. Can't wait to go back :)

Thanks for the great hospitality. We really enjoyed the Pork Belly. It was a fun night and our 2 fur babies enjoyed their Puppy Patty Burgers and Pupsicles, thanks from Neo and Amethyst

Really lovely Staff, great service and fantastic food! I love that my dog was offered his own menu 🙂 The only downfall is that the Staff did not ask to pat my dog and decided to sneak up to pet him while I was eating which was a little awkward and annoying as it creates a bad habit for my dog as now in public situations he will expect pats from waitresses, but other than that I highly recommend this place.

Impeccable service, food and ambiance. We love our new local, can’t wait to return. The wine list is also impressive! Thanks for welcoming furry family members

Amazing staff, food and drinks are superb! Love the bar atmosphere at the front and the outdoor restaurant vibe out the back. Dog friendly too!

Price is cheaper than some of the competitors, which is good for customers. Tapas very tasty. Staff very friendly. The only downside is the size of outlet. Suggest changing some food menu items in according to seasons.

I loved the garden area in particular. It's great to be able to have a nice meal, glass of wine/beer and they've even had entertainment on sundays! Will be stopping in again for sure.

Absolutely brilliant place. Staff are fabulously friendly and helpful. Excellent covered garden area and a brilliant tapas menu. 4th time back now and food is always great. Well priced new business that deserves and is worthy of some local support.

A great little place in Remuera. The food is lovely and the wait staff are super friendly! Extra bonus being dog friendly with a menu for our pooch!

Been to BlueJay's a few times now for lunch and for their evening menu, the food is great! Good fresh ingredients, cooked beautifully and good value for money. We will be back soon! Keep up the good work Alex, Bridget and Tino.

I thoroughly enjoy every meal I have here and I've had a few. Head chef Alex does a fantastic job, I've never been disappointed. Highlights include the wild mushrooms, pork belly, and prawn tapas. Friendly atmosphere, great staff, very reasonable prices. Never a problem finding parking. Had a great time at the Pina Colada night. Highly recommend the Bluejay's iced tea for two cocktail :) My new favourite happy place.

Really beautiful place, great food and affordable. The tapas are well sized and taste really good. Will definitely go back to try some other ones. Best thing about this place is that it is dog friendly, Teddy loved his puppaccino

We loved the ambiance, food, staff, drinks...not to mention we were able to have our dog along with us in the super cosy back courtyard. Attentive service, delicious meals and very reasonable prices. Thanks for providing a much-needed local gem

Dog-friendly -this is a real gem in the heart of Remuera - this cafe has filled a long-awaited gap in the region offering a stylish and unique cafe with mainstream and tapas-style menu. The $1 very large chocolate chip cookies are a must-buy for the kids - we took a couple of them home for takeaways to put in our lunchboxes. The tea is served in glass teapots with high-quality English breakfast tea blend. We ordered a couple of tapas dishes and were not disappointed. Highly recommended for small get-togethers - team meetings as they offer a free space upstairs for small meetings up to 20 people. The owner, head chef and staff are all very friendly. Support this local cafe/bar as open until late - 9 pm. Perfect for drinks for a small crowd -10-20 people who need a space to celebrate or meet over delicious well-priced snacks -$9 per tapas plate. The biggest drawcard is for dog owners as they welcome your dogs. Support this business - they warrant to do well

Called in for evening tapas. I particularly enjoyed the ceviche and the prawns, but everything we ordered was delicious. Lovely garden setting will be even nicer in the summer when the sides can be rolled up. Friendly efficient staff and reasonable prices. We will be back!

I love the tapa menu, the pork belly was divine. Try the beef and pork meatballs, delicious sauce. Can’t wait till the warmer weather arrives so we can enjoy the back garden
Bluejays absolutely deserves to do well. Friendly and accommodating staff and the tapas are just delicious. Fresh and different and very generous portions. It was quiet on the Sunday evening but once word gets round I'm sure they will be rewarded.Do take time to go...you will want to return. Many thanks guys...you were all stars.

Been a few times now. All the food is good, the coffee is good, the prices are super reasonable. Really nice spot too with the section out back. Has very quickly become the best brunch in Remuera.

Great food, good coffee and most of all awesome staff. Love the backyard terrace and can't wait for summer to come around to fully enjoy that little small paradise.

A warm, happy atmosphere greets you the moment you walk in the door. The sounds, wonderful smells, the beautiful artwork and the hideaway haven out the back take you away from the hustle-bustle of life to a place where you can breathe, relax, eat, drink and be you. I've been 3 times now and looking forward to trying more of the menu. Highly recommend the salmon eggs bene, everything is so fresh - next trip it's the mushrooms, they look amazing. Staff are friendly and helpful. Seating is comfortable (this is important!), blankets handy if required. Excellent start for a new establishment. See you again soon.

Saw this newly opened restaurant last time, and decided to have a try with my father today. A cosy and lovely place with a few options for food, and good customer services. Recommended to have a try.
What was good:
-The environment there was great, there is a lovely garden hidden at the back, it has 4 heaters installed to keep you warm and the garden blocks the traffic noise from the street.
-The customer service was also very good. As you step into the restaurant they will give you a warm welcome, the people there are friendly and always have smiles on their faces.
-Food looks very fresh, and the coffees were lovely.

Maybe they can improve:
-They provide a lot of drinks to choose from, but the food menu only provide limited options at the moment, it will be great if they can add more varieties of food onto the menu.
-My father and I both tried the Wagyu beef burger and we both think that the burger meat was a little bit dry, but everything else was great.

Haven’t tried other stuffs yet, might drop in and try something else next time. But as a newly started restaurant they are doing great, keep it up! :)
