Review Restaurant La Capilla - Richmond

The degustation was the perfect amount of food and a great selection of different tastes. A friendly and helpful staff. Place is kind of in between places, and right opposite a field of cows. Not sure that it is well known as it was not very busy the night I went there.

Our family went for a birthday lunch. We ordered the gnocchi, fish tacos and a children's meal. I found the gnocchi fantastic. The tacos were very tasty but slightly wetter than we expected. The restaurant is in a converted church and has great atmosphere as well as a playground outside for the kids. Service was excellent, and we weren't waiting long for our meals. Thanks for the great experience.

I'm local and I didn't know this restaurant existed. It needs some good publicity. Venue is delightful, spacious old church with fireplace. Tables not too close together. Good wine list and fine menu including gluten free. Food superb. Congratulations to the chef and our lovely waitresses. I had pan fried fish of the day (snapper) with ravioli and the most delicious sauce, two had lamb shanks and two had swordfish. We were all thrilled with our dishes and the desserts were good too. Highly recommended. Well worth the prices. Will definitely eat here again.

Had a lovely evening at La Capilla with the most exquisite food. Our group tried a range of dishes including the fish, lamb and ribeye, all cooked to perfection by Take and absolutely delicious. The desserts were amazing, we tried them all! The staff were fabulous and looked after everyone very well. This is one restaurant you must try if you're looking for something a bit special :)

Finally someone who knows how to cook! The steak was well rested and melted like ice cream in my mouth. The pork belly was soft and tender with just the right amount of crispy crackling. A very rare find to have meat cooked so well in a New Zealand restaurant. A greater selection of drinks would make this the place to die for.

Great place for sole-diners. Had dinner here by myself in June 21. Fire roaring away and just the right amount of attention from the lovely women wait staff. Food is outstanding and exquisitely presented. Do try the award winning duck breast

I love dining in this quaint restaurant. The food and service is on point with a great Japanese/Spanish fusion menu made with fresh local products. Keep up the good work.

We have just had the most amazing meal at this beautiful old church & would definitely rate it 5 , we could not fault the food or service. It's just a shame it's hidden in behind it's jumbled neighbours property ! Please don't let this put you off.

Time after time our meals at La Capilla just keep on transcending themselves. Takeshi succeeds every time in exceeding our expectations, serving original dishes and new food combinations. Who would ever thought I would enjoy Brussels sprouts? I can tell you: if you get them with Takeshi’s scallops dished up with Serrano ham, onion confit, apple puree and saffron-lime sauce … well you’ll love Brussels sprouts. The Carpaccio de Pulpo brought me back to my childhood. It was as tender and tasty as the one I used to eat during the summer holidays in Sardegna and Corsica (the only difference was Takeshi’s artistic presentation. What a beauty! Chef, are you sure you are not a painter as well? Guess all top chef are … how do they come up with such presentations otherwise?). Also all the memories of the many Porchetta eaten in the Riviera Romagnola came alive with the super tender and juicy Piglet … Where else in NZ do you get such a delicious crackling? No need any more to go to Italy/Spain for Mediterranean food … we’ve got it even better just around the corner. Chapeau Takeshi/La Capilla!

La Capilla is entirely special -- from the building to the staff to the excellent faultless food. Thank you so much -- absolutely stunning meal. We had Pan seared fish, lamb, rice pudding, kids battered fish and housemade wedges, and Prawn croquettes. Gorgeous and unforgettable.

We have returned again to La Capilla, this time savouring Chef Takeshis' degustation menu. An absolutely fantastic meal with amazing flavours. A must try on your next visit.

From the lovely greeting at the door by the wonderful Chef Takeshi, to the professional yet warm wait staff, impeccably balanced food, stellar beverage offerings and wonderful company Restaurant La Capilla delivered. Takeshi has a delicate hand a refined palate and the dishes reflect this. I had the opportunity to sample my fellow diners dishes as well and they were consistently wonderful. The skill employed here is incredible. A final word to the wise - do not leave without having dessert, I am at a loss to describe how impeccable they were. Truly great food creates an experience and this food certainly does..... Well done La Capilla!

The food here is elegant and delicious. I came here today for lunch and it was an absolute delight. One of the best places I have ever been in Nelson (or Wellington). Nice atmosphere and lovely staff. The food though... EXCELLENT!!!

We chose the 5 course dinner menu with desert, and every dish was outstandingly crafted. Loved the Japanese influence. The quality of the food was inventive and the presentation elegant. We left feeling delighted that we have found an exceptional, reasonably priced restaurant and look forward to enjoying Takeshi's cuisine sometime soon.

My dinner tonight at la capilla was fabulous. The food was excellent, beautiful presentation. The romesco sauce on my pork dish was perfectly balanced & so flavorful. The dark chocolate mousse with local berries was like silk. Thank you chef!
