A quality cafe. We got the berry custard crumble pie, almond croissant, and the vege/vegan ciabatta. While the food was satisfactory, the croissant and ciabatta could have benefited from being toasted/warmed up. The coffee was good and the staff were friendly. The atmosphere was the most confusing part of this place. It has plenty of seating and many large tables, which is a huge plus of this place. But the decor and music left me wondering what they were going for. Lots of decor that doesn’t seem to match, asymmetrical rooms, doorways, and tables, and the music was light Christmas instrumental while we were there. Overall it was a fine place to have a bite and a coffee, but it wasn’t my favorite. Definitely a great place to go if you have a large group as there is plenty of seating to accommodate.

Best in town! Quality products, very nice atmosphere and happy people runs the place!!!! The breaking and the Reuben are fantastic, the Pretzel is outstanding and they have a bread and jellies platter which is enough for 4 persons. We loved the place!!

Most amazing little cafe, the neighbourhood and front is deceiving. Wait till you walk inside, the decor is fantasy land plus rustic. Very spacious and lots of variation. Food is authentic german baking, hotdog and sandwiches.

I had Brekkie and my friend got Lammie yesterday. Both were great! The bread was soft and spongy — tasted great with egg and bacon inside. I don’t usually like bread but this one was just so soft and yummy! The portion was large too. We also ordered a custard slice cake.

What a way to kick-start a day with awesome breakfast here! Interesting atmosphere. Very friendly cafe. Tried their smoky, filled with plenty of smoked salmon 😍😋 Cronuts is nice too. Definitely a solid 5stars 💫

Wow what an awesome cafe! The photos don’t do this place justice. We got the brekkie and the smokie (salmon) sandwiches for breakfast. These have to be the best sandwiches we’ve ever had. You can pick from a range of fresh baked focaccia bread. And to make it even better the inside is so neat! Little alcoves to eat in and surprisingly huge inside to accomodate big groups and small groups. Highly recommend!

Highly recommended when in Rotorua! It's located in an industrial area, but don't let that fool you. There are plenty of seating areas inside to the left once you come in. The Longdog is a must and it was suggested I add cheese on top. The Cronuts are also very tasty which multiple options for flavours. The coffee is spot on and service was excellent

Wow!!! Coffee was phenomenal at this place. Absolutely loved the cronuts we tried and the cake. Will be going back again to try the hot chocolate which I heard is also amazing. I highly recommend stopping by at this cafe if you are in the area.

Wow wow wow. If I could give more stars I would that was incredible. We had a brekkie and a hammie and a ham pretzel, and it was like a flavour bomb in your mouth. We also had a vanilla and a chocolate mousse Cronut because we are like children at an unsupervised party. This is a MUST visit venue!!!! We’ll be back tomorrow before we leave - wish I could take this place back to Australia!

What a great cafe! It’s a bit out of town but worth driving over to taste. They have a lot of pretzel based foods and a lot of baked goods and bread in general, and its all very wholesome. Taste great, plenty of parking, very spacious inside, definitely worth checking out if you’re in Rotorua.

The quality of bread is fantastic. The 2 bakers, one is from Japan and the other from Europe, show their artisan level of baking which is unmissable. The bread is “Katai” - chewy which is great and the the cronut is very well done. Nicely balanced. This can compete with anything up in Auckland and is equal to the Japanese bakery in Mt Eden. Place is dog friendly too.

This place is amazing and wonderful！ lovely service and really nice bread. We ordered a sandwich and a longdog. The sandwich was amazing (sorry I forgot the name). The ciabatta of longdog was tasty, and we takeaway an extra just the ciabatta. Also get a chokkie and a coffee cronut for takeaway.

Food And People

Why is this place 3.5 on Zomato when all the reviews are 5's with the odd 4!! OK - so if you are looking for Eggs Benny then don't come here. But you will find something tasty to eat and the quality of what you get is outstanding. We came with locals and it felt a bit out of the way but if you have a vehicle...come here! The fit out is crafted with love and tehre is tons of space to sit with friends and catch up.

Sensational sandwiches and pastries We arrived at closing time (1:30 pm) on a Saturday afternoon and were so relieved that Alex and his team were still prepared to serve us. The sandwiches we ordered were sensational - delicious soft, fresh bread and beautiful gourmet fillings. The pain au raisin/snail was amazing! This little cafe really deserves its high rating. We'll be back!

Life without bread?! Unimaginable. And yet but for Ciabatta Cafe and Bakery, you might not find any worthy in the tourist town of Rotorua. So make the longish walk or short drive or bike ride to this out of the way location. Breakfast will thank you. Their other baked goods are excellent too.

Thank god for Zomato... The first cafe we went to was closed, then on the way into town, Zomato said turn left for a cafe called Ciabatta. Thought it must have been a mistake since it was off the beaten track, but we decided to go and check it out, and were supremely rewarded. Now my favourite cafe in Rotorua :-) Without hesitation I say these are the finest nussgipfels in NZ, and I know my nussgipfels, having refined my palate in the Bernese Oberland. The interior was nicely decorated and the owners very friendly, we had a great time! While we were there, it was continuously busy with locals getting their artisan breads, so word is spreading! We were so enamoured we wanted to go there again late on the same day, but it was closed... If you haven't tried the nussgipfel (almond or hazelnut croissant) then go now!

Ciabatta is probably the best cafe in Rotorua! Amazing pastry and good coffee. Ordered a second portion of blueberry tart as it was so delicious. The boss was so friendly and we made our visit memorable! Defiantly come back when I am in Rotorua.

Very surprise to see very little review about this gem of Rotorua. Not easily located. Fantastic pastry and sandwich. The staffs are extremely friendly and the bosses are really good to explain the difference between artisan bakery versus normal bakery. The coconut hot chocolate is great and very nice Swiss ambience. Highly recommended breakfast.

It was a bit of a mission to find that place but it was worth it. The food was much better than what I had anticipated. The go nuts were simply divine. The pastry was soft but crispy and it wasn't very oily. The pastry cream filling was flavourful and tasty. The long dog just went down so easily. The combination of bread, hot dog and sauces were nicely balanced. The hot chocolate was also really good. Would definitely come back for the next trip to Rotorua. Good food and good service, what more could you ask for.
