Review Urbano Bistro - Rotorua

Exceptional food, absolutely nothing to faulter - possibly one of the best fillets I've taken this year. We also took the lamb, which was also to die for! Service was great, smiling and considerate, and quite fast too. Price is standard European city prices - possibly cheaper than some European cities also. Well done guys!

I enjoyed a very pleasant lunch with a group of seniors. The food cost more than I expected to spend for lunch but my fish and chips with nice salad items was delicious. I thought the fish was incredibly fresh, and the serving size was very generous! The staff were friendly and helpful. Will choose to eat there again for a special occasion.

My friend and I had dinner here for two evenings during our first trip to Rotorua. The dishes were great and so did the service. Also, the portions were quite large! Highly recommend the lamb and pork. They were so tender and juicy.

Lovely staff, was very quiet, but it was early, meal was great plates were heated so meal stayed hot. It's those things that matter and seem to be forgotten these days. Will definitely be back next time we visit Rotorua.

We walked from a nearby motel. Food was very good. Vegetarian lasagna was excellent. My wife had the fish of the day, which she enjoyed. Plastic chairs are a bit of a turn-off (but probably easy to clean).

Superb! The food is excellent, the varied menu offers ample choice and the staff are very pleasant and attentive. We have dined here for lunch and dinner on occasions as a couple, with family, with friends and we have never been disappointed. Highly recommended.

Stumbled across this place whilst looking for lunch and was blown away. Staff were so friendly, food was absolutely phenomenal and was super quick. Absolutely rivals my favorite cafes in auckland central but the price is better here. Will be back tomorrow!

We walked here from Sport of Kings motel and had a great meal. The fish and chips were really good and the food was plated beautifully. Dessert was the real show stopper. We ordered 3 different ones to try, the best being the coconut and lime ice cream. Would definitely eat here again. Convenient location and walkable from most popular hotels.

Right on the main hotel strip - great service and delicious food. The banana spring roll dessert is unique and quite good.

Food tasted good, both eggs were hard inside and ciabatta was cold by the time it got to us. Took a fair while for food to come considering there was only a handful of people there

Nice place to come for breakfast. 3/5 because even though it only took 20 minutes for the food to come all three of our French toasts were only warm, and my bacon was all fat. The staff are nice and has a nice atmosphere. It’s a bit pricey but I’m not sure why

With such a simple identity on the menu, the "Pork" may seem plain. But don't be fooled. This superb dish is a triumph! Delicate flavours, blended to perfection and presented beautifully. Try it. You'll love it.

The restaurant environment was very nice, service was good to! But food was terrible, unfortunately pairing chocolate, grilled cucumber, blueberry sauce and venison steak does not work out. It was incredibly sweet and also salty. The plate had no balance, we also ordered a pork which was cooked perfectly but it was paired with old stale pork crackling, Very very sweet Sauce covering the black pudding and vegetables. The pork itself had no seasoning to it... but thank god the water was nice, their gormet potato’s was ok too a little better then countdowns potato salad.

Good little cafe with yummy food and tasty coffee and the price isn’t bad either. Simple yet tasty, Would come back next time :) would recommend to a friend

If you haven't been here already you need to go!!!<br/><br/>We just have to stop in for brunch when we are staying in Rotorua.<br/>The eggs Benedict here is so yummy especially if you add the mushrooms.<br/>Yes food here is a little expensive but its worth every cent, Will be definitely returning here when I'm back in Rotorua.

Came here on the off chance that there would be free a table. They had one left so they happily set this up for us as we did arrive quite late at quarter to nine. My husband and I shared the pate to start with. It had an amazing creamy texture and beautiful flavour, the apple chutney was delicious with lots of warm slices through it. The crostini was crispy and so good, but even though we piled the pate on we ran out of crostini. For a main I chose the lamb, it was cooked perfectly and I loved the accompaniments that came with it they went so well with the lamb. It came with an anchovy and caper chutney, mint pearls, an amazingly flavoured Israeli couscous and a salad which had delicious smoked feta. For desert my husband and I shared the tasting platter, everything was nice except the apricot tart which was boring and doughy, the white chocolate truffle was amazing though. We have been here before and will hopefully be back next time we are in rotorua.

We got a deal for 2 breakfast at 9am the place doesn't open till 9 so we were sitting outside waiting for a while. It was good food good staff service but not outstanding.

Absolutely wonderful meal with attentive staff and an incredible menu. A comprehensive wine selection with a great Kiwi selection. Extensive options for entree and mains and a dessert menu to die for. All rounded off with friendly staff who weren't overbearing. Well done Urbano!

Seriously we were so dispaointed. Got delivery to our motel room. Ordered the scallops which consisted of 3 tiny scallops and some other crap can't even remember it also had the pork belly which again was very small. It was ok food but the price was rediculous. My husband was so disappointed he end up going back out to burger King lol.

lovely staff, delicious food. we ordered garlic bread, prawn entree, fish of the day and eye fillet for main. tastes really good. highly recommended.

Came here around brunch time and was greeted straight away. Very nice and prompt service, and a friendly waitress. The food was very, very filling. Although it did not seem to have a lot on the plate when it arrived, there was a lot of food piled under the two pieces of toast. Also liked the fact that you could choose between sourdough or whole grain toast. Overall a lovely breakfast/brunch spot in Rotorua. Would definitely come back next time I'm here

I was traveling with my family in rotorua, and decided to uv dinner here because it's near my motel. Fine food with beautiful presentation. nice ppl working there, thoughtful and helpful. the only thing I don't like is only 1 baby high chair in this bistro, it's not convenient if there's another baby having dinner over there.

We reached Rotorua by 7 30 pm and we're hungry by then.. Being vegetarians and new to this place we didn't know much restaurants in this area... We found Urbano Bistro and decided to stop for dinner... The options for the vegetarians are very limited but they were great with whatever they had.. The mushroom & blucheese soup was thick and filling.. Super soup.. The Vegetarian Main was delicious... Really loved it.. And above all; the service... A class... Wish they had more Vegetarian Options.. Cheers ! !

Arrived into Rotorua and decided to call here for dinner - without a reservation. <br/>Staff were very obliging and informed us that there maybe a delay with the food due to the number of orders on the kitchen presently. <br/>This turned out to be not a problem at all as the food was delivered promptly and without fuss. <br/>Entrees were slightly disappointing - the chowder was more like a green curry and the sweetbreads I ordered were overwhelmed by the batter that they were in. <br/>The mains though were sensational. I had been wanting venison since being in NZ and they did a fantastic job with it. My partner had the eye fillet and declared it the best steak she had ever had. <br/>Too full for dessert we rolled across the road to the hotel after a very nice meal with some good service.

Great coffee! great service! Fast and efficient! Great food! Totally recommend! Had the urbano hobo meal it was delicious with many flavours. Also ordered fish and chips for my son and the fish was beautiful and fresh.

We had dinner with a large group before Christmas. Customer service was very attentive and friendly.<br/>Our meals came out in a timely manner and was Delicious. There is a good choice of wine also.

Had a great breakfast a few months back (mid-year)- a 4star for that. More recently popped in for a few coffees to go on a Saturday morning while passing through Rotorua (Nov2013), all flat-whites, coffees were at high end of coffee pricing, however coffee was terrible and undrinkable. I will return to have another go with the coffee many wouldn't if burnt once - and I'll try it before I leap out the door, but please Urbano train your staff in barista skills as I expect a top quality coffee for that pricing and establishment type, as would others. Ceiling was water damaged over coffee machine area, staff gave impression was like this for a while. Staff and customer service experience (SatNov13) 2 stars, coffee 1-2 stars - previous breakfast experience 4 stars customer service I remember was better.

disappointing breakfast.<br/>Have had wonderful dining experiences previously but very disappointed in today's breakfast dining. <br/>My husband and I ordered eggs benedict and the eggs were overdone and not runny in the centre as they should be. I noticed the same thing on other diners plates. The whole meal was lukewarm. The coffee we ordered had come before the meal so we ordered another to go with the eggs benedict... this came AFTER we had finished , would have been nice to have it WITH the meal. <br/>All in all it did not live up to expectations and we would be hesitant to dine here again.

This was our third visit to Urbano over a period of several years and we were pleased to find it has maintained a high standard of hospitality. The restaurant was warm and relaxing on a cold night and the food was great. We shared - and both enjoyed - an entree of homemade pate. My partner had the Gourmet Beef Burger, which was very much to his taste, and I ordered the Fish of the Night (snapper with a delicate herb crumb). I am a rather fussy fish eater, but this was one of the nicest fish meals I have had anywhere. I will certainly hope to eat there again on our next trip to Rotorua.

We ordered the chicken salad, the open steak sandwich and the pumpkin filo's. Each of the three dishes were presented wonderfully and came out in a very timely manner.<br/><br/>The food was great, each dish was delicious in its own right and the atmosphere is very clean and modern, the portion sizes were great and the service was very good as well.<br/><br/>Will eat here again for sure

Rather disappointed. Atmosphere good, but my fish of the day was a disaster. Ordered three then told could only provide two. I must have got last few scraps. Lacked Veg Wife supplied some of hers. To destroy it totally there were two spoonfuls of some chilly mix that really killed the couple of bland nugget size monk fish. Presentation zero. Cost $36:90 good deal yea right. On the positive side other parts of meals were good. With so many eating places in Rotorua we do have choices.

Outstanding service, cuisine and atmosphere . The owners care about their clientele, the food quality and presentation is up there and service is consistent and seamless. Well done, we visit Rotorua every year and never fail to go back at least twice in each visit.<br/>We are particular bout service and rate this establishment highly!! Stumbled upon this place by accident actually when I was walking to the supermarket.<br/>Had the stuffed chicken dish the first night and that was awesome. Service was awesome as well and I promised to return the next night (which I did!)<br/>Second night I had the soup of the day (tomato) which was really really nice and salmon as a mains which again was yummo. Service again was fantastic!<br/><br/>On both nights it wasn't that full however I'm an early dinner person which may explain this. Everything is well done in the restaurant from the decor to the friendly staff.<br/><br/>Yes its a bit pricey but its well worth every cent that was paid!

Nice dining experience. The plates seem to be a little confused with flavours, probably less would be more. Nice selection to choose from, service was timely and all of the food was well presented. Would go again.

My husband and I had dinner here on a week night. Busy for a Wednesday. The service was excellent and the food was very tasty. Just a bit on the expensive side.

Very delicious food and friendly service. Have been there for Saturday morning tea and Dinner during the week. Just slightly on the expensive side though.

We were very impressed with this restaurant on our recent trip to Rotorua. Myself, my husband and our 4yr old son went here on a busy saturday night. The food was excellent, I had the chicken breast, my husband an eye fillet which he said was one of the best he had ever had, and our son had the nachos from the 'little persons' menu. They had an excellent wine list and the service was fantastic. This place is run by people who have been in the restaurant industry a long time and it shows! Well worth the money!
