Review Third Place Cafe - Rotorua

Great local place to come for breakfast. We especially liked the ability to make it an English breakfast with beans and toasted tomatoes. The atmosphere is great with a nice high overlook. Parking was easy and free in the adjacent lot. I would come back if in or passing through the area

Delicious food. Nice view. We ate in the terrace viewing the lake. Loved the pancakes 🥞 🥓 *They are served with whipped cream and banana though not in my picture.

What a wonderful find! Such friendly staff, and great food and drinks! Especially the proper leaf tea in a pot, thank you!! Also a terrific view over the lake from the seats near the window. We enjoyed it so much we came back the next day!

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday, it was busy but we were able to get a table. The views are stunning and atmosphere welcoming. The breakfast food was good too, highly reccomended.

Lovely service, friendly and efficient. Coffee could be improved but if you need a caffeine kick it’ll do. Didn’t get the chance to try the food here, but the cakes on display looked amazing.

Breakfast with a view! Quite calming to sip on latte and enjoy such a scenic view. Food was great as well. Would definitively recommend

Great coffee. Lovely view of the lake and the Anglican church. Fantastic eggs Benedict.

Great food, friendly and efficient service and lots of parking. We managed to get a table with a view and even saw a little black mittens cat strolling by next door. The (dairy free) banana smoothie was delicious (but a little on the sweet side), the lemon, ginger honey tea was good too. The seafood chowder was very wholesome and had good flavours to it - bread was a little small. The creamy mushrooms with bread was really nice, very generous serve. We took away a strong cappuccino, and that was good too.

Me and my little sister arrived about 11am . Wasn't too busy but it took us quite a bit of time to decide what we were wanting to eat as there so much yummy options . Vicky was abe to help us with our selection , she was absolutely lovely and has great customer service . I choose the Salmon and a orange juice cost about $28 and it was so worth it . We waited about 10-15minutes for our food , it was a lovely day so we sat outside and enjoyed the view . My salmon was grilled and cooked to perfection with the bottom crunchy , the salad was fresh with the rice having a hint of coconut. It was good and I would have it again , Yes i would recommend this place it was cheaper then other places , beautiful views and great customer service thanks vicky

A spacious cafe with a nice view of the lake. Price is reasonable and friendly staff. Plating may not have the best presentation but flavours are gorgeous. The seafood chower was superb.

Great food and very prompt service even though they were relatively busy. Wonderful views out over the lake and ample parking next to the cafe made this a definite place to return to. The vanilla slice was close to perfect. Not too much icing and delicious pastry and custard combination.

The service here is awesome. Super positive staff. They go the extra mile. Recently opted for takeaway and it was hot. Cutlery was given which was great. Food was tasty and well presented. One suggestion to have a balcony of some sort. The vibe would be electric. Thanks again Third Place.

It’s a little drive out but the Third Place Cafe Rotorua has great food at more affordable prices. The service staff were also friendly. The fish and chips was sold out by the time we got there, which was such a pity! The lemon cake recommended by the staff was nice tasting. The view from the Cafe was a bonus. It has a beautiful view.

The lady who served my son and I yesterday when it was "not the best day" your acts of kindness and hug meant the world to him. I'm so sorry I didnt catch your name but your thoughtfulness stayed with us both. The food at 3rd place is always top notch but your service was outstanding...... Thank you from two very humble locals

Our favourite cafe when in rotorua. Always head to window seat as view is spectacular. Top marks, young man serving me, remembered my coffee, flat white with coconut milk & that we were from Auckland …. Outstanding service. Has been over a year, we were last in rotorua. ….. and of course, food is yum

Awesome cafe, with an astonishing view to the lake. Went there with some friends and enjoyed a nice cup of coffee well prepared, tasting fresh and delicious. Good for kids because of its kids corner. Toilets clean and tidy. It was reasonable full for a Saturday 9am. Looking for the next visit!

This place was everything we expected it to be. Ample food and reasonably priced. Friendly staff.
Awesome view from the cafe if you can score a seat by the window.

Lunch at Rotorua.

The Best Cafe Winner at the 2017 and 2018 Rotorua Hospitality Awards!

Middle Eastern Spring Lamb Platter -

Spiced seared spring succulent lamb strips accompanied with toasted pita bread, crispy falafels, hummus, mint yoghurt, shredded lettuce & kasundi.
Food And People
We came here on the advice of locals and I'm so pleased we did. It looks nothing much from the outside and is pretty cafe standard style look on the inside. But the food was fantastic. I decided to have a lamb platter and it was such a lovely dish and so nice to see something a little different on the menu. It has a lovely view overlooking Ohinemutu but if they ever do a refurb then here is the opportunity. Because sitting down it's pretty hard to enjoy it.

I was particularly impressed with the care that the lady who was taking orders took with two older (and I think local) people. She really took her time and made sure she understood exactly what they wanted. Older people often can't make decisions quickly and she gave them the space to consider what they wanted. I certainly didn't mind waiting when I witnessed such special care and service.

I will definitely be back when next in Rotorua.

One of the best, most famous and recommended cafes for breakfast in Rotorua.
Awesome location, great food & coffee, and amazing service!
Loved their eggs, fruits, yogurt, cappuccino - Everything. We even got 2 free coffee vouchers since our order was a bit delayed
. They even remembered us and we were greeted with smiles the next day. :)

Definitely recommended!

Nice ambiance, cozy cafe with amazing view outside. Salmon was good, but actually not a fan of it but it was a good dish. Tidy place and the staff are accomodating. Many people would love to visit this place.

We had a double order of potato stack, which came with heaps of avocado. Was a few other gluten free options so some variety. The potato was a little cold, making me think it was prepared rather than cooked to order. Coffee on the other hand tasted fine but was a little overheated. Not bad, nice view in the sunny weather.

Great location with stunner views. The building does not take full advantage of it with limited Windows. Great coffee and best musli I ever had.

Probably the best coffee in Rotorua, set against the beautiful back drop of Ohinemutu and Lake Rotorua. I always stop in for a coffee when in Rotorua. The food is good and well priced as well!

Weekend away to Rotorua on arriving we decided on a spot of lunch. Decided on Third Place. Great views of the lake and surroundings. Very spacious inside. Food selection was very good. We had home made pie and fries. Yummy. Service was great as well. Give it a try.

Wonderful place! The food and service was excellent. Highly recommend if you are in Rotorua.
My son had eggs on toast which he said were the best he's ever had. My husband loved the giant sausage roll.
I had the famous custard slice which was amazing.
We are soy drinkers and they made the coffee perfectly.

This place is delicious. Just across the road from the hospital so we go here whenever we can. They do great corn fritters and salad and amazing lemon and coconut cakes

Underwhelming experience at this cafe, given the hype. I agree that the custard slices are to die for but they sell out far too quickly!!! Cappuccino was weak, far too milky and the battered fish was extremely greasy. Chips were soggy and there were far too many!!! On a prior occasion at this place I had a pie for lunch. That was fine, nothing to rave about, but definitely better than the fish and chips. Sure, the views are pleasant but pretty sights just don't hit the spot when you're expecting a delish lunch!

A great place to go for lunch, Morrocan chicken and custard slice are the best! Good view over lake. Good variety of food and good prices.
Sophie
As a local, this is one of my favourite cafes. Great service. Awesome food. Esp love the custard slice - it's a must do! I also love the selection of gourmet salads and have even been tempted by their pies. I'm always stoked with what I get.
Their location is fantastic with a beautiful view of the lake and free parking!

Delicious food. Try the Moroccan chicken. Best ever! The cake selection is amazing and the iced chocolate and coffees are delish. The service is very friendly. Highly recommend this cafe. I've been frequently and there isn't a dish I was not happy with. xx
