Review Herbs & Spice Thai Restaurant - Rotorua

Shaun Price
Great food. They make their own sauces and the entrees are clearly hand made. We loved the money bags with fresh herbs and the Tom yum took me straight back to Phuket. Real authentic Thai, not your usual cookie cutter

Accommodated to a table of 10. Staff was very friendly and the service was quick. Generous servings. Each dish was served nicely and fresh. The Pad Thai was on point. All other flavours was as per normal. Would definitely be back.

Amazing dishes and fantastic owners and staff. I highly recommend coming here. My partner and I absolutely loved it. We look forward to coming back to dine in the restaurant. Ten out of ten πŸ™‚πŸ‘Œ

We made a reservation for 8 guests. We were greeted and seated promptly. Orders taken in a timely sequence and meals served within 15-20 mins. Delicious food. A nice experience. We will go again.

Food was great, really good price for 2 curries, 2 rice and spring rolls. Was ready to collect 10 minutes after we called. The beef was really tender but I think the taste of the panang could have been more flavoursome, however, still yummy.

Such a cosy little restaurant. Enjoyed the atmoshere and service here. The food was fantastic, really decent portions. I recommend the crispy pork and coconut and vegetable soup.

Highly recommended place. We went there during a busy period still the serving time was great. Food and service is good. Serving quantity is good enough to share for two which justifies the price per item.

We had a great meal! Staff were friendly, byo wine, food was nice and tasty - we had spring rolls, the special lamb rack/cutlets, and pad see ew. We even ended up back here late the next night for takeaway after a bad experience elsewhere. They were more than happy to cook up a quick takeaway box for us even though the kitchen was pretty much closed. Thank you!

My friends and I were craving some Thai food as we have come from Australia on a NZ holiday and we’re very impressed with the food. One of the best Thai meals we have all had.

Always loved going here. Friendly staff and food is consistently amazing. Not to mention it's reasonably priced.

Came down from Auckland, and saw the brilliant reviews so had to give it a try. Absolutely fantastic! Homemade peanut sauce was delicious, and the sizzling BBQ chicken - absolute best Thai we've had in a long time.

Enjoyed my meal here with my family. We ordered a selection of dishes including vegetarian and meat options. Service was good, the food tastes authentic and flavoursome. I recommend going here.

Unremarkable food, but great service

The staff here are very friendly and nice but we felt that the food here was average at best. We chose a couple of stir fries and found that they both had far too much onion!! I have never seen sliced onion in Thai food. One of our choices was a Chef special sizzling seafood dish and we thought that the seafood was a little light on - and we were disappointed to find seafood extender in a $30 seafood dish!! BYO at $4 per bottle was a plus and our good wine saved the meal!

Food tastes ok and service is good but the prices are expensive to begin with and actually more expensive considering how little you get for your money. A bowl of soup the size of my palm cost around $12 and a small sparse plate of veges and meat, barely enough to fill one person cost $33 or so. This place is more expensive than restaurants in Ponsonby or the Viaduct in Auckland and considering the quality of food there, the price here is totally unjustified and a rip off.

Visited this nice little restaurant while we were spending the long weekend in Rotorua. Service was friendly and fast. Dishes were brought out at a good time and we appreciated not having to wait for long since all our tummies were rumbling from the long drive. Food was good and not too expensive especially since we were a party of 8. Great family atmosphere and tasty food. Make sure to stop by here if you are in Rotorua.

Excellent food and good ambiance. Nice place to just chill and relax after a full days work 😁 Although must say when we asked for dessert, we were told that the kitchen is busy and they are already unable to serve us dessert. Nevertheless, food was great, just need to improve on service.

Where do I even start, so lastnight me and my clients went to this restaurant for dinner. We were looking at the menu trying to choose our food. When we are ready to order we call the waitre to take our order. I told her my order and my client also told her their order but they want more food and this waitre said something mean to us " You said you are ready to order, so how come you're not ready if you still trying to choose ur food", my client said "we want more" and she replied "i'm busy! What else do you want?" "You said you are ready to order" 😳😳😳 what's with her attitude. I think the management should fire her.

Anyway back to the food, after waiting for one hour our food finally came :

- Tom yum was very bland again very very bland and they only put 1 shrimp, 1 mussel and lots of onion
- Veggie stir fry was very raw and oily ew ew ew
- chicken on hot plate the veggies again very raw
- pad thai was good though

What in the hell happened we were waiting for 1 hour and veggies came out raw?

Its horrible place and horrible experienced
Saturday night in Rotorua on holiday with my boyfriend. We walked down to Herbs and Spice and ordered the Pad Thai prawns. I have eaten a lot of Pad Thai and this is one of the best yet-delicious!! No MSG used at this restaurant. Highly recommend.

Did not expect that after reading the past reviews but... the portions were big, the food very well cooked and it was all really tasty! Even the water was delicious!

Entrees superb (chef's mix and spring rolls)
Main's big and cooked perfectly (seafood and sweet'n'sour chicken)
Dessert was just like in Thailand (Sticky rice and fruit'n'icecream)

Service is a level above and is very very fast.

All in all, we had a great time there tonight and will be back (o:

5 pieces of pork in a sweet and sour pork for a main course.
5 prawns in a main course of tempura prawns. Complete rip off. I complained about the lack of meat in the dishes and was brushed off. We had six main dishes for 5 of us (2Adults, 3Children) and came home hungry. Not impressed.

Went there on a Sat night after making a booking for family of 4. It was an early booking 6pm and we were put into the front area with another family of 4. Needless to say there were few people so we got our meals quickly, but meals were on the smaller side and bit pricey compared to what I've had in Auckland. Wouldn't rush back here.

For a $9.50 entree no too dear, but they all deep fries and only use cheap items,a curry pastry a mini spring roll a square of whatever on top of a bread? a very small pc of fish paste with 3 PCs of corn kennel,a won ton.
$20.50 for a pad Thai with prawn, rice noodle still sticking together, maybe 1/2 teaspoon of peanut,6 pcs of prawns;no taste not even spicy or chilly taste at all!
As a Thai restaurant there is no condiment on the table like lime/lemon juice, sugar, fish sauce and chilly.very disappointed as the lady is smile all the time.
