Review Brew / Craft Beer Pub - Rotorua

Taylor Gridley
Inhouse beer is super good and the food was much better than I expected. They got it out for us really quick despite the fact that it was wicked busy. I really enjoyed this pub and it'll be hard not to go back next time I'm on Eat Street.

Probably the best burgers ever. Kiwiburger, Pulled Pork Burger and the Americano burger. All were amazing. Pizza garlic bread was yummy as were the chicken tenders. Staff were friendly and their service was amazing. Wouldn't hesitate in going back.

A place that has a lovely atmosphere and is a good place to try beers from the local brewery. Food wise, it wasn't the best... the food was ok, nothing special at all. A bit overpriced for the food you get.

Solid pub. Good craft beers and pub cuisine. Willing to adjust meals for dietary restrictions as necessary.

Not surprisingly they have a great beer selection here and you can do tasting plates with any of their tap beers. They also were the only ones where you could buy the Pink & White Geothermal Gin buy the bottle. Food was OK and decent sized portions. Definitely worth a visit for their drinks.

Decent Croucher beer and cider, along with some guest taps. Tasting tracks are great, just the right size. Hop Burger was great, tasty chunky real beef pattie. Friendly service.

The Gumbootup Friday was a success. Really had fun seeing new and familiar faces. The food was lovely and especially the staff.

The Sticky Spicy Chicken Wings may just be the BEST BEST BEST chicken dish I have ever had. It was so delicious, I can keep on going back for more. Good balance for spice lover. The chicken tenders were also good.

Delicious, very spicy, 🌶️ jerk chicken burger, on point! Good range of Croucher craft beer on tap. Friendly and efficient service. Well done Paul and Nigel for your consistently high standards!

Delicious burger with the best side of fries I’ve ever had. Not to mention that the meal arrived much quicker than expected. The service was impeccable, highest accolades to the waiter who served us (sorry I can’t remember his name) - brilliant service from him. The only downside being my whiskey/cola tasted flat and warm. Overall a great place to eat!

Great place to eat! Ate here a few times over the weekend and thought it was delicious. Beef burger was great as were the pork tacos and loaded fries! Would definitely be back if we’re in the neighbourhood.

Came here on a Saturday night, the place was pretty busy specially the seating out the front.
We ordered a couple of drinks and got a table of the front. The waiter came to our table and took our order.
We ordered two burgers being the beef and lamb. Both burgers didn't take overly long to come which was nice. The chip portion was on the smaller side but that was okay! The beef burger was good. The pulled lamb burger was pretty nice as well.
Definitely would come back :)

Traveled to New Zealand had been to Rotorua one of the most beautiful place in kiwi-land. Brew was the place where my husband and I both used to wine and dine together this place is a part bar, spot for beer and crafted cocktails and artisanal coffee. Decor was affluent, contrast with vibrant wallpaper and signs, while communal tables and shop-style counter provide a fun, retro feel.

Visit this place for the most amazing margarita pizza and bear 🍻.... one of the few places in Rotorua late in the night even on a Monday night!

Amazing food. Definitely worth the money. We felt like we wanted everything on the menu. Very nice place. Definitely wod recommend to other people.

Loved the bar, had heaps of crafts to choose from - in house + Wellington breweries. We got a paddle and tried a couple of Crouchers for the first time. We loved it - favorite volcanic APA was the fav. Lots of seating outside and we got space inside even though it was a busy Saturday night.

Great place for a few beers, loved the outside space! Inside is not super cosy, thus the four stars. We especially enjoyed the avalanche IPA and the NZAPA.

Wonderful customer service, amazing food!

They were so friendly and welcoming here! The alcohol range was quality! The food we had was delicious and came in a decent amount of time! The Cajun Wedges were absolutely divine and the Chicken Burger was to die for! The Pizza's are a decent size and taste great!
They even accomodate for children by giving them colouring pencils and a colouring book while they are dining!

Definitely going to come back here again!

We come here every time we are in Rotorua. Good customer service and good variety of food including gf range. The beer and cider choices are great!

One of the most lively places at Eat Street in Rotorua to have fun, great beer, and good food. There were a lot of youngsters partying around and a few guys playing guitar as well. Due to the crowd, service is not that great. Not suitable for a quick meal. It is more of a partying and happening place.

We had beer and pizza, sitting outside.
Dianne Tan
The service took really long despite the place not having much people ordering food as they were there for the craft beer and drinks. Other than that the food was fairly great and enjoyable. The ambiance was also really enclosed and hot.

Ordered a Famous brew burger with fries. It was really dry, with a strange after taste, could not finish the dish. Below average dish with an above average price. Burger fuel would have been a lot better

Walked in...Got served by 3 scots... Alarm bells rang... low and behold they got the order right.. Food arrived promptly, beers were cold and quenching. Certainly a good pub with good grub. Tasty and delishoush. And someone else paid.. my kind of place to eat.. I'll remember to forget my wallet next time again. Louisiana pizza is a good nosh shout . Sprognic

Great beers on tap, but on top of that it was by far the best food experience after trying several other restaurants in Rotorua. Service was excellent and it was child friendly (at least early evening on a week day it was). Highly recommended for the beer and food.

Have to say that I love what they have done with Eat Street, it's a great concept if a bit overly commercial, but having all those eating choices in one nicely themed area is a boon for us amateur diners! The area was so popular we had difficulty getting a table inside anywhere, but luckily one of our favoured choices had tables outside under gas heaters. The fish and chips were amazing (best ever according to one dining companion), everything we ordered was quickly finished. One of the dishes (satay pasta) we returned since it didn't have any satay flavour, and it was kindly taken off the bill. Service really friendly, would definitely recommend!

First place to visit every time I come to Rotorua. Fantastic craft beer, delicious food and pretty sweet live music if you time it right. Must do.

Staff treated my friend poorly, bad service, do not recommend. Waitress was rude.

Service was a little spotty however once we engaged with a waitress she was attentive and on top of things. Were a few demanding tables we could see so understandable.

Tried the house beer, was good, would recommend it and not bother much about staying into guest beers. Only comment was my glass was empty waaaayyyy too long between beers.

Food, was with a group, a bunch of pizza's ordered, tossed up between the Brew Burger and Brew Dog....went for the latter which was great but would also like to have tried the burger as it sounded way good on the menu.

Nice vibe sitting outside, the long tables make for some fun conversation with neighbours.

The whole "Eat Street" thing is good, would like to see it better policed with cleanliness. Not the fault of this establishment but all of them need to work together to provide a good environment, especially for families.

More non-smoking!

Great place to come in the summer for a drink and some pub grub type food. I enjoyed coming here late on a Saturday night, you can people watch for ages. The set up is very casual with pretty basic food perfect for a pub. Staff were pleasant and helpful with drinks.

Had their special Croucher beer - to be very honest, didnt like it a lit. Was too sweet for my liking. I like my beers to be strong and bitter.

The risotto was quite good though. We alao had a dark beer, which tasted a bit like coffee, but was quite interesting to taste.

My friends and I are from Auckland visiting a friend in Rotorua. He brought us here and boy the food is good! I got the Chicken Sandwich and it was really nice. One of my friends got the Calamari Salad and it looooked amazing. Next time I come back, I'm definitely getting that one. Price is also decent. Customer service is really good too! Hopefully will be back soon.

The staff were lovely. The selection of craft beer was great. The food was the worst. I had the bangers and mash. The gravy was so watery it looked like dirty water with peas floating in it. My dad had one of their pizzas that look like it came from a supermarket.
Really disappointing.

A great little find in Rotorua. I've never eaten here but ALWAYS come down and sample the craft beers when I am in the area. The beers are good and always changing with a mix of home and abroad. It is definitely worth a look....challenge is if you can work your way through the taps!
Katherine Holder
Were greeted right away and they were nice enough to seat us inside as we were originally booked to be seated outside.
Ordered the tasting rack which consisted of four sample sized beers (ok three beers and a cider). Did find it annoying I had to go up to the bar and read the options on the wall as they were not printed-lucky I remembered three out of the four I was after by the time the waitress came.
So the tasting rack came which had red apple cider-not too sweet and easy to drink, tuatara pilsner-surprisingly good, croucher IPA and a pale ale.
Then the meals came a short time later, I ordered the 1/4 pound beef burger minus the egg and beetroot. My burger came with coleslaw and some hand cut chips-enjoyed the whole meal.
The other half also ordered a burger and loved it.

Dessert time- so I got the chocolate brownie and seriously yum. It came with a serving of ice cream, beery coulis, cream and frangelico sauce (which tasted more like chocolate icing-didn't really taste the frangelico).

Fantastic menu with tremendous food, generous portions and affordable pricing. Incredible craft beer selection that changes regularly showcasing the best of NZ. Friendly fast service and outside area is inviting and comfortable. I'll visit every time im in Rotorua

Went to BREW on Steak Night Thursday. We both really enjoyed our meals and thought it was great value for money! The pilsner loaf is absolutely amazing and will definitely be getting that again next time! Love the variety of beers and the fact that the Croucher Brewery beers are local! Keep it up Brew!

Hi We have dined at your place several times now lunch and dinner. Everything was great, the service fantastic, the lady is always lovely frindly and helpful. The only thing I feel is the portions could be a wee bit larger.
We will certainly return and guide others as well.

Jan

We had dinner last night at Brew Rotorua for a 30th Birthday. BREW had gone to the trouble of printing a special birthday menu and putting up balloons and streamers ( unasked). The meals were very reasonably priced, very fresh and good size servings. Even though the bar was packed, our tables were served promptly and service was excellent. Great job Brew - we shall return!

Visited Brew with kids for dinner. Well the beer and food was wonderful BUT most importantly the service was superb. Restored our faith in the service ethic in Rotorua. Lively atmosphere on a very busy night with quick professional service.

I almost didn't review BREW because I just hate joining up...so tedious...but after reading a review which gave BREW a 1 star ... I decided to. WHAT!? are they thinking?
1) BREW's beer is globally accepted as one of the best in the world. At the superbowl during intermission they labelled Croucher's beer 9th in the world...and I do not even drink beer... (I drink vodka straight up)...but spent 3 visits now drinking beer (and they do have vodka too)...because it is fantastic!!! Be in before the secret is out. If I was them I'd go to the States become brewer millionaires and never come home.
2) The first visit (April)
I had ordinary old wedges, drank vodka and went over the road for dinner (all pre-planned) forgive me I didn't know any better. The wedges were just perfect.
The 2nd visit (July)
I had a platter of antipasta-type food shared all ut.er.ly fan.ts.tic.
The 3rd visit(Sept)
I had pate to-die-for !!! ....I wanted more but the toast came out with a sizeable soufle pot -around 250grams and I knew I would look like little miss piggy if I got more....especially as I was having a hamburger after that...and it was huge! and YUMMY!

Had dinner last night at Brew and absolutely loved it. Myself and my family were well looked after, the food was fantastic and my husband really enjoyed the beers. Definitely worth a visit

I have to agree with a previous post.

We chose Brew Pub because of its own discription in the Entertainment Book. Friendly atmosphere, Big Pub Meals for cheap Pub prices. This was not the case.

The portions were very small and the price was very big.

The bangers and mash was dissapointing as was the drum sticks. And the pizza, well that was terrible! My husband was horrified and couldnt believe he had to get up and pay over $20 for a tiny pizza. I dont know if they could have possibly put LESS on the pizza to be honest.

We left nearly $100 down and dissapointed

Reasonably priced, large pub meals they are not!

From the moment we walked into the place, we could not be made to feel more welcome, even if they tried. A cold night outside, the atmosphere inside was warm and relaxed. We felt like we had been here before, even though this was our first time. The service was friendly and efficient, the bar snacks healthy sized portions, fairly priced, beer well chilled and our friends were impressed.

What a cool place. Came for drinks and dinner. Friendly atmosphere. Outstanding beer (the pub is owned by Croucher Brewing - a Rotorua craft brewery) - i can personally recommend the Croucher Pilsner and Croucher Patriot. The beer list is all of their own plus other top NZ beers. Our meals were excellent - think great pub nosh. I had the fresh fish and chips and my partner a BREW platter. Both were excellent. The BREW platter is like a pick'n mix from the rest of the menu - pork pie, scotch egg, smoked meats, etc.
Definitely recommending Brew to others.

If the food had been priced according to taste this wouldn't have been so bad. However, the food was less than average - a couple of sausages with a dash of mashed potato set us back over $20.

The place was really cold and the coffee was burnt.

It was a really disappointing experience. We won't be going back.
