Review Amazing Thai Restaurant - Rotorua

Will return again. A little pricier than some other restaurants but the meal was totally worth it. Attractive and tasty vege green curry.

There aren't many folks going to the restaurant but the food was amazing as the restaurant says. I had the Pad Prik Khing and the chicken was great. The restaurant is a bit short staffed but the waitress was happy and nice, and the food was great. Recommended eat.

Went for lunch when it was quiet. The owner was very welcoming and helpful with our food order. Enjoyed our meal and will go back when in Rotorua next time.

This restaurant is approximately named, the food really is amazing. We’ve had 6 different dishes and each of them have been perfectly cooked and delicious.

Delicious food and the service was pretty quick. Lots of items on the menu to choose from. Also it’s a big restaurant with plenty of tables. Well priced menu. Would recommend!

For the price and food quality we were all pleasantly surprised. Having tried many Thai restaurants in the US, this surpassed those "high end" ones which we once thought were the best. Great service as well!

Best Thai Restaurant in Rotorua hands down

Found out they now do bubble tea, so decided to give it a go with pad thai. The taro bubble tea was delicious! Pad thai also tasty :) will be back for the bubble tea alone.

for 10.50$ soup the portion is too little. There were only 3prawns and the rest are mushrooms :( . I hope they still have their lunch menu on dinner time as well

Awesome Thai restaurant that made me feel in Thailand. It was fast, affordable and so delicious!! Loved the decorations and gave good big portions. The waiters are always respectful and friendly. Loved the food since it had nice flavours and wasn’t cooked the night before like other restaurants. Highly recommend.

We ordered a chicken pad Thai, satay skewers, and a Tom kha goong. Its actually one of the better pad Thais I've had around the north island, very flavourful, and not overpoweringly sweet. However, it was quite expensive for the amount given. The chicken skewers were alright, they could have been much more tender and the satay sauce tasted a bit artificial and was too sweet. The soup was very nice, it tasted almost like a curry, very creamy and was quite thick.<br/>This is my restaurant of choice when it comes to eating out in rotorua!

Have ta say.. shes not bad.. jungle curry tasted like it..I asked for hot and I think they were nervous to make it so. Oh the gullet rumbled for some heat. A slight critiscisimisim my 100kg frame needs a slightly larger portion. But still. I'd go back. Sprognic it would be gullet glory for you I'm sure.

Our family of four (2 adults and 2 young kids) had our Christmas dinner at this restaurant. We ordered green curry chicken, red curry duck and fried mixed vegetables and rice. We all had a full tummy after the dinner. The curries were delicious as any good Thai restaurant can deliver. The BBQ duck in the Red curry duck dish were a lot more than the quantity in any Thai restaurant in Auckland. The only thing drew us back from giving a 5 star rating was the rice. Don’t get me wrong. Nothing wrong with the Jasmine rice. It’s one portion of rice came with one dish. It would be nice if the rice was unlimited refill.

Like the name says its amazing...<br/>The food and customer service both was amazing.<br/>We tried mandarin duck,sweet sour fish,chicken garlic pepper and prawn garlic pepper.<br/>The duck was our first time trying duck at a restaurant and it was amazing. Also this was our first restuarant we tried in rotorua with such good taste leaving our first food experience awsome

Lovely spot! What a pleasant surprise in Rotorua. Reasonably priced, but not cheap. Friendly attentive staff, extremely good duck and prawns. The oysters were a bargain at $13 for 6. Recommended.

Great service OK food. Not really authentic but good enough. Price range 26-30 per dish. Comes with rice. Kiwinised taste I should say. Lots of veges. Looks and feel healthy.

I love thai and this place has never dissapointed. Friendly staff, food is delicious, and the wait time isnt to bad either. I love the little sampler plate and pad thai is my fav 😊

Love this place. The best Tai restaurant, I have been in New Zealand. bit expensive but OK. sometimes bit salty, but still acceptable. Maybe it is just Tai flavor? I am a big Tai food fan.

I ordered the lamb panang for takeaway. It had no flavor, no spice and the lamb was thin, over cooked and rubbery. Not sure you could call it amazing thai.

CUSTOMER SERVICE - Unfiendly staff. We were asked to sit at the corner seat even when restaurant was empty.<br/><br/>FOOD- it was a utter shame. Food was blend. I ordered mild green and red curry which tasted like sweet dish. No taste of lemmon grass rather it tasted like sweet coconut curry.<br/><br/>FOOD PORTION. Worst was it's portion of food served. It's was too less compared to other thai restaurants.<br/><br/>PRICE. Food was simply overpriced compared to other thai restaurants.<br/><br/>NOT ATALL A GOOD PLACE TO EAT. WILL TRY OTHER ALTERNATIVE WHEN GOING NEXT TO TOWN.<br/><br/>

TheThai ambiance was great. Fast serving and accomodating. I love their pork and chicken cashew nuts, a must try definitely. Try their tom yum soup, a good way to start a meal. Affordable and recommended.

The food was really good. Had a spicy green curry. Also aporeciate the free water for me thirsty german. Also enjoined the view on the main road out there.

We went to this restaurant as it was close to our hotel. The food was great. Large portions with efficient service. We arrived at 6.30 and it was about half full but by the time we left it was full with a queue!! It's popular with locals too which is great to see. They cleverly have their takeaway outlet around the corner separate from the main restaurant. Worth a visit for a hearty Thai meal!

We had a take away last night. It was excellent service, a very quick turn around - about ½ an hour, and a delicious taste experience. Would highly recommend this asian taste experience.

One of the most amazing Thai experiences I've had lately. I went here with my wife, mom & mother in law and hence we had ordered a variety of dishes here.<br/><br/>The food was served within 10 minutes and the presentation of the food was exceptional with great attention given to small details. <br/><br/>Food was mouth watering and we loved the experience. <br/><br/>Price was the dishes are decently placed.<br/><br/>I'll be back here for sure when we visit Rotorua next time.

We went to dinner to this restaurant 2 weeks ago because of the excellent reviews it had received. I ordered Massaman beef curry and hubby ordered his favorite chicken green curry. The service was good, the staff are helpful but the food was a disappointment. The beef was so tough that I left it. The green curry was so watery. The flavour was so bland. Unfortunately, I could not recommend them on the basis of my experience.

My husband and I visited Rotorua this weekend and had dinner here. I was alittle disappointed when I looked at an online menu and saw prices significantly less than what we paid. Looking at other reviews must have been their lunch time menu but didn't see that online. But the food was delicious :) and came out quickly. We received decent enough service, but as we ate one large group left and commented on the poor service and the waitress got a bit heated with another table of customers. So overall, food was good but seems like their service could be improved.

We randomly stopped in for lunch and left very happy! The gentlemen working was very lovely. I had the Tofu Pad Med Mamuang the sauce had so much flavour, Vegetables were fresh and the tofu.. I've never had tofu so amazing, crisp on the outside yet soft and creamy inside. Portion size and presentation was great. I also had a pineapple juice which came in a nice glass with a garnish and umbrella! My husband had a Vege Pad See Ew which he said was very tasty. Also has the Vege spring rolls and fish cakes as entrees. Very happy with everything.

Went out to dinner here for our anniversary and we had chicken cashew and the lamb penang. They were absolutely delicious. This Thai is a bit on the high for prices but very high quality. Same goes for their exceptional customer service. I requested a vodka drink but was told that they only mixed either Sprite or Coke and I requested Soda not feeling fussed if they didn't have it. In the end the waitress brought a drink with Soda as the mixer. I then requested for chilli on the side because my partner can't handle as much spice and of course they made that happen with no issues either. Would highly recommend this place and would go again on my next visit to Rotorua!

Really enjoyed this place. Food is very good, was quite surprised. Staff were a bit frazzled, they said they have been very busy recently, kept smiling tho, and attentive. <br/><br/>Whole fish was yum, as were the seafood salad, massamun curry, lamb and the tofu green curry. <br/><br/>Best meal we have had in Rotorua.<br/><br/>Thanks so much, will def be back next time we are in town.<br/><br/>Rated 4.5 because it deserves it.

Had dinner here on the 12/09/2015.<br/>Had the tom kha gai soup and the red curry with chicken, my partner had the green curry with chicken, we both enjoyd our curries they were good portion sizes and very tasty. Would definitely go back again.

Came here for take always had pad see yew and store fried vege!!! <br/>Yum yumm what a yummy surprise. Sometimes smaller Thai places tend to be cliche. But this was full of flavour not soaked in oil. Next time I'm down in Rotorua for work il be back :-)

When the 4 of us walked in at peak lunch time we were the only customers. However the staff/ manager was fantastic, polite and food came out quickly. One of the best red curries I have ever had and my friends enjoyed their dishes as well. If in Rotorua and craving Thai I highly recommend.

This has always been my family's favorite Thai place and we were super excited to return here on our holiday. It did not disappoint. The food was AMAZING. I practically licked my plate afterwards.<br/><br/>Definitely recommend this place over all other restaurants, Thai and otherwise, in Rotorua. However, maybe recommend visiting at lunch when the food is half the price!

We had a lovely meal here on weeknight. The menu was interesting. The food was delicious and quick and also reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and always smile. Very good choice for thai food in rotorua. Highly recommended

Very disappointed with the take away meal ordered tonight. The food itself tasted dry, meat was rubbery and the curry was not thick and creamy, more watery then anything. The pork with ginger was very nice until I found a hair in it and it was definitely it the container. Never going back to dine in or take away.

this is the best Thai restaurant in NZ, I have had dinner last night. the food was fantastic and the service was outstanding, the waitress are really warm welcome. <br/><br/>if you wanna have a dinner and feel like you are in Thailand Just go and try. you will love it.

We were told this was the best Thai in town. I guess if the title of your restaurant is Very Average Thai, you don't get as many customers!<br/>Our entree was cold, chewy and oily. Our main course was very average, and my husband's meal arrived a full 8 minutes before mine, putting an end to the idea of sharing. We don't eat out very often, but when we do, we expect to spend our meal money on something worthwhile.<br/>We won't be repeating the experience at Very Average Thai.<br/>*Apparently, according to locals we have since spoken to, the quality has really gone down since this place changed hands not to long ago.

The name of this Restaurant is so true. This place has amazing Thai. What a taste sensation and journey. I was one in a group of six friends, and we all ordered to share our meals. The thai green curry was beautiful, and the soup was delicate and well balanced. The snapper was a heavenly delight, complete with yummy crispy bits. The staff are casual, but attentive. I look forward to returning. I can not stop thinking about this place!!!

On Saturday 29 January I went to "Amazing Thai" for dinner with three friends. I am a vegetarian and I dont eat eggs or seafood. I ordered the Amazing Thai's spicy noodles" which did not state on the menu that it was going to have eggs. I requested the noodles without any meat and asked for tofu replacement. I clearly told the waitress I was a vegetarian to the point that i didnt want any seafood sauces in my meal.<br/><br/>My meal arrived looking very attactive and as I was about to dig into it, I smelt EGGS!!! I got my two friends to try it for me and they confirmed it was eggs. <br/><br/>I called the waitress, questioned her on the eggs to which she replied rather defensively and I quote, " we cannot put every item in the dish on the menu". <br/><br/>I explained my situation again and she agreed to get another dish made. Few minutes later the waitress comes back to tell me, "the chef said its just the TOFU BITS which went into pieces while cooking!! I was still not convinced so this time I asked all three of my friends to try the egg bits. They all confirmed it was egg.<br/><br/>I called the waitress and my friend said to her that it was eggs to which she replied " is that so" and went away with the plate.<br/><br/>when the meal arrived again, there was no egg, no spicy flavour to the noodles, infact there was no taste to the meal. It was oily and tasteless.<br/><br/>I asked to speak to the duty manager at the pay counter and the female staff asked me, "why do i need to speak to the duty manager". I told her i want to place a complaint. She then revealed she was the duty manager. I explained the whole thing to her and much to my disbelief she was not listening. she said defensively that all their noodle dishes have eggs in them. Which confirmed again the "so called CHEF" lied to me". without any apologies she offered me a 15% discount. I told her I couldnt care less for the discount, and that a restaurant could not do this to a customer. I tried to explain the seriousness of the matter ie. people with serious egg allergies would just not survive. the duty manager was not ready to listen. All i got was "can you wait i will check with the chef". I did not go to Rotorua to waste my time in a restaurant who could not be professional.<br/><br/>Bottomline, I will NEVER SET FOOT IN THIS PLACE. They lied to me twice in the evening and wouldnt admit to it. really bad service. very disappointing as i really enjoy thai food.<br/><br/>APatel

The food and service at Amazing Thai was outstanding. We arrived after 9pm on a week night without a booking and received a warm welcome.<br/><br/>The menu had all the Thai favourites and my vegetarian green curry was one of the creamiest, tastiest I've ever had. The starters and mains were nicely presented with a good range of drinks on offer too.<br/><br/>All in all, a very good choice for dining in Rotorua.

lacks atmosphere, weird service. wouldn't bother again

I have never in my life had to wait as long as I did tonight for the food to arrive. An hour and five minute wait for the main course to arrive from when our order was taken. What a disgrace! Will never return because the attitude of the manager. If we had known in advance how long we would have wait we would have gone elsewhere, particularly as we had two 12 year-old children in the group.<br/><br/>I suggested to the waitress that perhaps we could be compensated with complimentary desserts which she said would be fine. When it came to choosing the desserts, the manager said that they would not be complimentary and implied that we were lucky to get a table (we had made a reservation, albeit at late notice). <br/><br/>I would also point out that a couple standing behind us in the queue had eaten their meal and left before our main course had even arrived!<br/><br/>Plenty of good restaurants in Rotorua so will not be returning there.<br/><br/>Would recommend that the manager makes an effort to improve her English and do some customer service training.
