To me this is the best shop in town for indian. Amazing flavors in there curries and the best service I have received anywhere. Everytime anyone walks in they are greeted as if you have been a regular for years. Always a massive welcome. The butter chicken here is awesome, as well as the lamb curries.

It has been a while since we have been to Maharaja but as usual, the food and the service is fantastic. Mr Singh, you and your Team do an awesome job, from your beautiful daughter at front of house, to you & your amazing Chefs doing the Mahi out the back! The Prawn Malabari had so many big juicy prawns and the lamb pieces in the Lamb Saagwala were so tender you didn't have to chew! Everything was perfect! Thankyou. Please, to all you who are considering trying Indian Food, please support this wonderful Family business. Bohaut shukriya!
Definitely a must if you are in Rotorua. Best Indian food ever. Love the taste. Hygienic and Quality food. Highly recommend if you are craving Indian food.
Couldn't believe how much food we got! A two curry combo have mum and I enough for three dinners. Will definitely be going back next time we're in town. Spices and flavour were amazing 😍
Our usual spot for butter chicken used to be NGO, since that isn't open anymore, Maharaja has become our new spot and we're not complaining! Kai is always hot & fresh and the service is always top notch!
Simply delicious wow 👏 this is one of the best curry shop I have ever tried and I've tried heaps. I had mango chicken mild and that was just beautiful every taste bud was dancing in delight let me tell you !! My family also ordered lamb Rogan josh and butter chicken they wore also very impressed and very satisfied with there order. I can tell the cook puts alot of love into his food which is why it tastes so lovely thank you for a out of this world experience with your tasty culinary skills. We will definitely be back. Fantastic new Indian restaurant/takeaway at 256 Te Ngae Rd, next to the new Ebbett motors Kia car yard. Has a few basic tables inside where you can sit to eat, but we just had takeaway’s. Fantastic meal full of flavour, we had the onion bhagi for starter, then Chicken Tikka Marsala with garlic naan. Fed two of us easy. This is now my favourite Indian takeaway 😁
Arrived in Rotorua after a long drive from the Northlands & just wanted something quick & easy to eat.... we had Lamb tikka masala, chicken tikka masala, onion bahjis, veg pokoras and garlic naans..... All the food was really tasty and the portions we're plentiful 😊 really happy & satisfied.... thankyou

As I write this review I am eating a beautiful Khadi Chicken from Maharaja Indian Takeaways. This isn't the first time I've made a review on this place and I have been going here for my Indian food cravings fairly often for the past year.
A few dishes I really love are the Butter Chicken, Lamb Rogan Josh and this the Khadi Chicken. I have yet to try others that peak my interest, in saying that every time I have ordered these meals they have been 100% consistently great, usually stores like this one can vary in taste and texture so often that it puts me off, but Maharaja has always been very consistent which makes me love the food even more!
See for yourself in the picture attached to this review, the rich orange color of the Khadi Chicken and the beautiful, crispy bits on the Garlic Naan bread.
Their customer service is top notch! Always so welcoming, warm and friendly the staff are among the friendliest people I have ever met, they always have a smile, they make conversations that are more than just small talk and sometimes they even go so far as to offer me a drink when it's hot out, that simple act of kindness speaks volumes about how much these people truly care about their customers.
I love Maharaja and so long as they keep up the consistently great customer service, and flavorsome food I will always, always go back for more.
Super friendly personal, food choices are reasonably limited, which makes it good because they probably know what they are making. The dishes were very tasty, the naans were good, the small extra dishes completes the vibe. The atmosphere at the take away is also quite nice. Seems like a real family/passionate business. I would highly advise people to go to this Indian take away. Way better prices compared to the city centre.
