I have always wanted to try Beef Wellington, and got to try it at Wholly Smoked. I was not disappointed, the meat was nice and tender and juicy. I also had the Apple and Rhubarb crumble for desert, which was nicely presented, and tasty as well.
Group of 5 adults.
Ordered a sharing platter which easily fed 4 of us and pork belly for the other.
Meat and seafood were delicious - not enough sides though (salad, fries and garlic bread).
Cocktails were nice and strong and music was great 👍
Really good meal, food came out a bit late as they thought we had already eaten and then asked us if we wanted dessert, and the pork ribs were a bit underwhelming, but other than that it was good all round.
The restaurant offers a good selection of food. The staff are friendly and cheerful.
Food was fantastic. The serving size is big and very tastfeul and flavourful.
Upside:
The food is really good.
I had the brisket, and it tasted fantastic.
Simple with slaw and fries.
And not covered in sauce.
Came out in good tine as well.
Worth the value.
Down side:
Staff looked desperate standing in front of restaurant, and quite closed with folded arms.
Also pointing out the specials when I'm standing right next to it, sort of insults my ability to read.
Visiting from Canada. Came in for a quick bite to eat before we headed to the Zorb. Small and clean space. Very clean bathroom bathroom which is a bonus.
Staff was very friendly and food was delicious. We had the all meat Platter which includes ribs, beef brisket, mussels, fries and Cole slaw. Platter was enough for 3 to 4 people.
Great place to try if your in the neighborhood.
TLDR - Pro: Large portions, great plating, fast service, smells great from outside, pricing is reasonable.
Con: Not enough staff on to serve as primary host; no dedicated bar manager; sauces need just a bit more for dishes.
On entering, there was no one to welcome us as they were all busy at the bar. Took about a minute to be seated to our reserved table.
Host/waitress served us with menu and specials, and also, prompted the waitress for the drinks menu. Once drinks menu came, water was served. Ordered the Angus Fillet, Beef Ribs, seasonal vegetables, along with two wines.
Customer Service - no one was assigned to any particular section. All waitresses and waiters served us, service very fast, smiles, follow ups, all very efficient service.
Food was actually good. Only thing to say would be both the ribs and the fillet need more sauce to enhance the flavour for what it is advertising on its menu.
The restaurant should have a dedicated bar manager for its busier peak periods, especially on long weekends. Service dips a bit when all host/waitresses/waiters are jumping on to the bar yo clear the queue.
Otherwise would recommend this place for a good feed.
Lovely find for an unpretentious dinner with the family. Fresh produce, great cooking, good portions, reasonably priced. The tomahawk steak was done nicely & kumara chips so moreish. Served up good wine. We left with our bellies filled & hearts happy

Had the Beef Ribs & the Lamb Ribs. Excellent meals. Both tender and falling off the bone. Choice of mash, wedges or fries.
Lamb had a glazed, crunchy outer with tender inner. Beef was superb with an excellent gravy.
Great presentation, friendly & attentive staff. Large portions.
Would I come back here? Wonder if they take lifetime table reservations?
Welcomed at restaurant entrance. Served by excellent staff both bar and front of house. Our meals were, scallop salad (delicious entree) mains were pork belly and smoked salmon with prawns.(mouth watering)
Definitely reccomend.
