Review Zanellis Italian Restaurant - Rotorua

We recently dined at your restaurant and celebrated a 70th birthday. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and our meals. The service from the waitress was excellent. We would dine there again.

Came to Rotorua on Biz and had the privilege of dining at Zanelli's. The mains as well as the deserts were simply fantastic ... and our waitress, Louise, couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. Everything was perfect! Look forward to my next meal at Zanelli's

Came here from aucks for the weekend. Wanted to cap off a tiring day with some spaghetti and red wine. Ended up in a small strange corner of heaven. Simple. Tasty. Good service. Bam! 3/3. Very nice

We all really enjoyed a beautiful delicious meal there on Saturday night. Thank you so much. We will come again when next in Roturua. Diane.

Awesome food, incredible service and a short wait time. Would rate this as one of the best Italian meals we've had

Food was awesome, things were clean, staff were great, lasagne and lamb and tomato n bacon soup was all awesome, tho burnt my mouth lol my bad

Omg where do I start...!!! disappointed staff... I come from hospitality background.. i know exactly how chefs react when you are about to close and a customer walks in.. its the person who takes the order who has to handle because they are the face of your restaurant... when you are pressured to order within the first 5 mins it's disgusting unless you're in a fish n chips takeaways... you are bloody paying premium prices for everything.. someone recommended this place but now I will pass on negative feedback and word of mouth about the place.. thanks to few employees they have..

Worst experience ever... if you guys had anything below this rating, we just got kicked out (22dec, Friday 8:00pm - kindly check your roster) of this restautant because they wanted to close at 8 irrespective of the timings being at 9 by Sarah and Vikram (chef)...we called to book a table and we were pushed to book half an hour earlier surprisingly.. so we booked according to them and all they still wanted to do is to get rid of us (asking 5 times in 10 mins what do we want to order for mains and mentioning the fact they are closing and just waiting for us.. even though we ordered startes withing the first 5 mins) ..we both work in customer service and we had the most terrible experience so far.. NO WONDER THEY CLOSE AT 8 ON FRIDAYSS AS THE PLACE WAS EMPTY AS (of course because of the reputation you leave on customers) very veryyy disappointed... regret paying $40 for being treated this way...

Was really disappointed. <br/><br/> I ordered the Lasagne which was burnt and parts of it were hard and was VERY bland. Staff seemed to be very inexperienced and quite rude. (I ordered a glass of wine and my glass was taken out the back and filled instead of been filled at the table)<br/><br/>Would never go back

We were recommended to come here for dinner and we were glad we did! It is off the beaten track but worth finding! The staff were nice and the food was delicious! Recommend the Lamb main! The food has so much flavor! Will definately be dining here the next time we are in Rotorua!

I recently went to Zanelli's for the first time with a group. I wouldn't go back there.<br/><br/>On the plus side, the garlic bread was delicious and the glasses of wine were very generous.<br/><br/>However, the meals were average at best and not well presented. The decor is dated. But the thing that really bothered me was the service we got. We were served by a woman (maybe in her 50s?) and she was incredibly rude and impatient. She was sarcastic when asked a question about one of the meals and was very rude to my mother in law when she had to repeat an answer that Mum couldn't hear. I do not recommend Zanelli's.

I went here with a work colleague and really enjoyed it. I thought the food was fantastic and the service was excellent - very personal. I think this is the best restaurant in Rotorua. So many of the others have nice frontages in the busy streets just to get the tourists, then don't worry about serving bad food at high prices. Zanelli's on the other hand has good, quality food.

A group of 18 of Work friends went to Zanelli's Italian Restaurant in Dec 2009. It was pre-booked a week before the date. As we arrived it was 6pm (still light outside) we were seated at a table which was very cramped. Water was bought to the table along with the menus by a waitress whom was wearing a very short skirt (One you wouldn't bend over in)which i found highly disturbing as she only looked 14 and the apron was longer then the skirt! we ordered our meals which was at 6.10pm , we received the en trees at 7.00pm and the mains didn't come until 9.00pm!!! they ran out of Steak, Chicken and most Alcohol the restaurant wasn't very busy and one end of our table got their mains 30mins - an hr before the other end got their main then came out to tell one person that they couldn't have steak because they had run out. This was appalling! meals were very average nothing special and very pricey. I certainly would NOT go back there ever again! and the toilets were filthy !
