Review Land & Sea Cafe, Bar And Eatery - Ruakaka

I'm giving it four stars just because service got rather slow toward the end of the evening, and because I WISH the portions were bigger. And the atmosphere was very loud, and we felt a bit out of place as people who were just stopping through and didn't own boats. The owner is super kind, welcoming, and gave us a helpful overview of the menu and what was considered their best food there, which was great! My husband got the New Zealand lamb steak, and I got the chili prawns. But both LOVED them but wished there was a little more food. It seemed a touch expensive for how much food you got. We ordered fries because we were still hungry and the Whittaker's chocolate cheese cake with the chili plum sauce. We didn't like the chili plum sauce but liked the cheesecake (and the fries). If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely be eating there again. Those prawns were out of this world.

Been staying here with our boat for a while and come here for lunch or dinner a fair few times. The food is amazing! Fresh. Well presented. Every single time. It is worth travelling for. We came from Scotland 15000 nautical miles ago - less will do as well 😅 Lovely people working here! Can only recommend ❤️

Celebrated my birthday dinner here and had a wonderful time. Lovely greeting, easy accessible table for my Mum who is 84yrs. Wait staff were prompt and attentive. Owner welcomed us and made recommendations for the new menu. They now have a European/Asian infusion style menu which has a great selection to satisfy most palates. My partner had the chilli prawns and steak. The entree was delicious and steak cooked to perfection despite the owner informing us his European chef was off sick. I had the King prawns and Massaman Lamb curry. Both absolutely delicious. The Massaman Lamb was the best I have ever tasted, perfect heat level and delicious sauce. I was surprised by the staff bring me a cake (that my Mum had organised) and singing 'Happy Birthday') I will definitely be back - and not just because my brother Paul is the owner😂. I am so very proud of what both him and his wife Nhung have achieved in the short time they have owned the restaurant. They have big plans so it will only get better!

Absolutely delicious food, beautifully presented, generous portions, lovely atmosphere right by the water. The staff are very helpful, pleasant and attentive. We really enjoyed our lamb backstraps mains and Lemon & Blueberry Creme Brulee, and Sticky Toffee Pudding. We're going back for dinner again tonight, looking forward to another delicious meal... oh, and the coffee is superb 👌

The service was good. The place lacked any atmosphere. I was disappointed with the steak I had, it was a little tough. My neice had prawn cocktail which looked fantastic and the fish and chips were good. The staff are very friendly.

Understaffed but alot of heart. Tried hard just not experienced enough to compliment food service which was pretty flipping good. Quality and quantity fair price. Recommend buying a bottle then you don't have to worry about refills and wait time. I'll be back.

Unfortunately the day we visited there was a cyclone warning in force 😅 so we were sad to miss out on the view! I've left the atmosphere rating out as i hope to update this review after visiting in sunshine 😉. It was raining sideways and blowing a gale this time, but that didn't stop us enjoying the coffee and brunch. I enjoyed the Caesar Salad (without anchovies!) And my partner was happy with his pork belly burger 🍔

Stunning place and they are dog friendly! Staffs are very polite and helpful. The fresh caught fish is my fav. Great job 👏 team!

I liked Land & Sea Cafe. I had fish and chips and they were fantastic. Everyone else had crunchy chicken tacos and seemed to really enjoy them based on all the empty plates. It’s sad to see a lot of the negative reviews here complaining about the smallest things. I enjoyed my meal, thanks for your great hospitality. You are a fantastic addition to Marsden Cove.

The Land & Sea Cafe, Bar & Eatery is a fabulous place to enjoy a casual meal on the bay, with picturesque views. We enjoyed the Catch of the Day for dinner, which was snapper. Absolutely delicious! Dessert was a Vanilla Brûlée, served with vanilla ice cream on a bed of shaved chocolate. Sensational and delicate flavour, unfortunately it was inhaled before I thought to take a photo!

I'm really surprised by the negative reviews about this place. The setting next to the Marina is top notch and there is a semi-outdoor area which I imagine would be fabulous on a summers day. I found the staff extremely friendly, helpful and chatty and the service very good too. The food & Coffee were excellent and I will certainly be back next time I'm in the area. 🙂 RECOMMENDED

Absolutely delicious are the words that come to mind when I think of my experience at this café. We ordered fish of the day which was freshly caught snapper. I can honestly say that it was the most delicious fish dish I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The fish was cooked perfectly and was complemented by plenty of delicious cooked vegetables. The portions were very generous but seeing that our experience of the main was so good we decided to share a desert. We had the apple tarte was really tasty and was a refreshing and delightful end to a memorable meal. I ‘m often unimpressed with restaurant meals, but this one was a standout for me. We found the manager and staff to be very friendly and helpful and were accommodating of our needs. We would definitely return to this lovely restaurant/ café by the sea.

Friendly staff and quick food service. In a group of 6, all our meals arrived at the same time, which saved us the awkwardness of waiting while the food gets cold, for everyone to get theirs. The waffles are amazing! Keep it up!
