Omata Vineyard is awesome! Beautiful views, friendly staff, and their wines are fantastic. Don't miss the tasty pizza, and the food arrives quickly. A must-visit for a perfect day out!
Such a lovely vineyard, very casual dining with wood fire pizzas and platters. Me and my husband come here at least once a year and we always spend several hours drinking wine, eating, sitting in the sun talking and going for a walk through the vineyard and then through the bush walk. Very consistent service and food every time we come and we always leave with a couple of bottles of wine for home.
Great place for lunch today. Stunning views and excellent staff to deal with. The kitchen platter and a glass of Rose was just what the doctor ordered. We’ll be back in the summer.
Stunning location, lovely wines and very attentive staff. Great selection of pizzas... Just missing a little flavour - even pepper would have really finished the pizzas off. Would definitely go there again. Perfect location for a sunny afternoon for families, groups or couples, even bring your dog for a relaxing afternoon. A 1km walk through the vineyard and bush to a gorgeous lookout really makes this an incredible location.
Lovely staff, great service, and delicious wine and food! Amazing views and good outdoor tables. It would be great in the summer with lawn games.
Omata Estate Vineyard & Kitchen
On a trip to the Bay of Islands we visited the ‘Omata Estate Vineyard & Kitchen’, Russell, Bay of Islands which is now firmly at the top of our list of the New Zealand Wineries we have had the pleasure to visit on trips from our home in England, to see our family.
The wine tasting was great fun and most enjoyable and we decided on the Omata Estate 2022 Rose which was superb.
The pizza’s were the best we have ever tasted, the gourmet platters were delicious and the service was excellent.
The views over the vines with Russell in the background were stunning.
If you are planning to visit the Bay of Islands, be sure to add this excellent venue to your itinerary – it is a fantastic place!

Fantastic Staff Gerben, Shana, Dan looked after us today AMAZING Service, food wine tasting everything was Spectacular. Seafood entree the best. My first time visiting this Gem in Russell will Definitely Recommend to others enjoyed the wine tasting and adored Oscar friendliest Dog 🐕
