Review Mumbai Central - Silverdale

Sarah McMichael
Absolutely beautiful authentic Indian food. This is a wonderful family business whose passion for food shows with their delicious curries created from family recipes. I love that they are using free range chicken. If you're a local make this your regular, if not this is seriously worth the drive, you won't be disappointed.

My family and I experienced the best customer service, authentic, fresh, well spiced, and delicious dining experience at Mumbai Central in Millwater. We loved its location which is very quiet, the restaurant is very stylish, it has an elegant ambience, friendly staff and as for the food, this is by far one of the best that I have ever had. Everything was AMAZING & DELICIOUS!! Bravo to the team – chefs and customer service!!

I loved the restaurant and selection of food and it was really flavorful. This felt really like authentic indian food I have had back in India. Although prices are high..but I wont mind paying it if the quality is such with tender and juicy chicken. My lil one really loved the yummy 'fish starter'.

We had a takeaway tonight. Prawn Goan and Butter Chicken. We loved the freshness and full flavours. The prawns were fresh and large - yum! The taste was very authentic and the meal was not as creamy as others we have had from other places so you are left feeling satisfied but not 'heavy'. We also loved the chicken tika and chicken Korma. Thanks Mumbai Central!

What I liked most about the place was the decor. One entire wall was covered with a masterpiece of a painting of Mumbai. The furniture and other interior elements are minimalistic and classy. The 'tiffin box' concept is a unique one too, reminiscent of how we carry lunch to school and work in India. Overall, a great experience.

Excellent, genuinely friendly service. Excellent food, best Indian food we've had around here. Not a 'cheap' curry house, a good Indian restaurant, we're stoked they're local!

Highly recommend Mumbai Central if you are seeking fresh made authentic Indian dishes. Great portion sizes and a feeling of home style cooking that under pins that authentic taste.

Mumbai Central provided lunch for the staff members at The Dental Suite in Silverdale, absolutely amazing food, so authentic and flavoursome, very highly recommended. We cannot wait to come and dine in!! :)

We had such a lovely evening. The service was outstanding, such nice people. The serving sizes were very generous and the prawns were particularly beautiful.
Tim Stacey
Great food and awesome staff. The vegetarian curries are some of the best we've had and the meat dishes are just as good.
Chloe Stubbs
Great service, great atmosphere and honesty the best Indian food I have ever eaten! :) Definitely recommend!

Better than any other Indian restaurant on the coast or in Albany. Authentic flavours, decent portions and friendly service.

Always extremely satisfied with the food and very friendly service we receive from the Mumbai Central team. Won't go anywhere else in Hibiscus Coast for our Indian food.

My husband and I dined at Mumbai Central in Millwater last night and we both agree that the food we enjoyed was the best Indian food we have ever had. We ordered a Garlic Naan which seemed to be cooked authentically and was very tasty. But the highlight was our main courses. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, a dish I have had many times. I was blown away by the fresh flavours and the perfect blend of tasty spice, with just enough heat to make it interesting. My husband ordered the Shahi Chicken Korma. It had a fantastic flavour, like nothing he has had before. It is now his favourite Indian main. We were both impressed with the quality ingredients that the chef was obviously using. We enjoyed friendly and professional service during our meal and had a lovely time. We would highly recommend Mumbai Central if you are after good quality Indian food that is a taste sensation. ive been here twice the first time round i ordered the zafrani kebab from the lunch box"dabba". Last night i ate the fried prawns, indian style fish and chips , kebab platter.for mains the chicken tikka masala. Overall i like the decor in the restaurant and to someone from bombay/mumbai the mural depicting marine drive is amazing.the food has been excellent both times, and service attentive and friendly. My only gripe is thats is so far away from us in central auckland, but worth it to make that journey.

We have just been for dinner, well what can I say, this has to be the best Indian restaurant I've been in whilst living in Nz.. Food was amazing the service was first class I would highly recommend this place..

We tried this restaurant last night after hearing good things, and we think the positive reviews are well deserved. It's a more modern take on Indian food, with a cool set-up and great music. The host was fantastic, very informative and the service was quick. They have some really interesting dishes that are different to what you get at a standard curry house, and everything tastes fresh. I highly recommend the prawn masala starter which comes with a fresh coconut jelly, and I thought their naan bread was the best I have eaten. We will definitely be going back and feel lucky that there is such a good restaurant locally.

On Friday night 19th Feb I took my staff to celebrate our Accreditation for our clinics, we had an excellent night. There were no complaints from any of the team, they all just loved the occasion, the top food and very helpful service. I had the good fortune to introduce Graham Lowe to my staff he likes the motivating food.

Delicious food, amazing service, the staff even entertained our child so we could enjoy our meals, would highly recommend!

We are big curry fans, and Mumbai Central does not disappoint!! The complimentary poppadums with tandoori sauce were awesome and they kept coming when we finished a plate. We then started with the Mixed Veg Platter (to share). I've never had paneer before and I am now obsessed with it. I had the Lamb Handi & my partner had the Chettinad Beef. Both were absolutely delicious. The Cheesy Garlic Naan was perfect. I love this restaurant and I think its my new favourite on the Coast. Thanks guys, you've done well, but you should keep the music playing for a little bit more atmosphere :)

We just had the most amazing meal. The food was really authentic and the service better than experienced anywhere else. The owners are lovely people and went out of their way to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. Awesome place! ☺

For once we did not order the "fish and chips", which is very difficult, trying a new dish, Noorani. It's not even on the menu yet, but we were delighted .to be ask and the presentation alone was a delight. It's chicken encased in spicy lamb served with a sweet hot sauce and lime to squeeze, maybe it will be on the menu next time. Millwater is so lucky to have Mumbai Central on their doorstep and we just wish we lived closer!

I love a good curry and this place didn't disappoint! Beautiful flavours, friendly staff. Highly recommended

A group of seven of us had dinner at MumbaiCentral recently to celebrate a business milestone. We tried all the main dishes, hot and mild, and the flavours were simply amazing. Even the hot dishes were really flavoursome instead of real hot. Great service too. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. Chris Kirkham

Excellent authentic food and the service was great too! A must try! And you'l keep coming back for more!

I absolutely love this place. This South Indian next level, never tried anything like this before- amazing.

They stole the logo of a marketing agency in the USA called Free Range so at least we know they're unoriginal thieves of other people's ideas. Imagine how unoriginal and terrible their tandoori chicken is.
Nicole Woods
Food is delicious. A little slow in getting the food out but worth the wait. Atmosphere is lovely. Plenty of space, so when it's busy it doesn't feel overly crowded.

The only good thing about the takeaways we got from Mumbai Central was that they were hot when we got them home. They are the most expensive indian cafe in the area and the dishes we got were a real let down. The Chettinad Beef dish had about 3x small pieces of beef in it. The Palak Khazana dish was mostly overpowering spinach sauce with a few paneers & mushrooms sprinkled in it. We certainly won't be trying the Tuesday night butter chicken, special price takeout meal. If full price meals have little more than sauce and rice in them, there wouldn't be much point getting the specials here unless you only want hot sauce and rice.
Claire Jackson
Great service, tasty food. Ask for the peshwari naan (sweeter bread) - it's not on the menu but so delicious! Like their onion baji and vege options 👌🏼
Mark
Went there couple of days back and to pick up my takeaway i ordered chicken tikka which was under cooked Nd bearly have any taste in it.. Their garlic naan was slightly over cooked and tasted like burned.. Wont visit their again... There curry was runny and just had few picecs of chicken when you pay 19$ that is quite not worth it having few pieces in chicken...

Great Food and service, definitely recommend them, must have prawn entree and goan prawn curry.

The curries are just great and the their passion for food shows in the flavour.

Absolutely beautiful authentic Indian food. The most delicious curries with just the perfect balance of spice and flavour. Even the kids rated this one ten out of ten and we found the whole family loved it which can be a challenge. The owners are lovely with wonderful service, you really understand the passion they have for their business. Share the non veg mixed platter appetizer the presentation was wonderful. Definitely our new favourite restaurant.

I had the pleasure of enjoying my birthday celebrations at Mumbai Central recently, having decided to head along after a verbal recommendation and reading the positive reviews.

I have made it a point to seek out and sample the best indian restaurants in my travels, having sampled such in Sydney, Melbourne, London, Dublin and New Delhi. Amongst this mix I can honestly say that Mumbai Central is without a doubt a best of breed establishment; one that offers a welcoming and truly refreshing change to the indian cuisine conisour. The food is rich in variety, exquisite to the taste, and complimented with professional yet personable service.

Elated to have such a worldclass revisitable and welcoming restaurant local to me. If you havent been yet try it immediately, you won't be disappointed!

Mumbai Central represents the best of traditional and modern Indian Cuisine.
Located at the stunning suburb of Millwater, it epitomizes the best way to dine in or takeaway Indian food.
I highly recommend the Pepper Chicken - made to order on special request for chicken lovers or the Palak Khazana for vegetarians. Great options for families & kids.

A great fresh experience without the unnecessary fancies of "just another" indian restaurant. Loved the Host's and the service was great. the menu was what something i would have loved to have while i am being nostalgic. The pocket did not complaint also. Art work is amazing and well thought of. Great place and would love to go again.

Thoroughly enjoyed both experiences at Mumbai Central. We were fortunate enough to be served by the owners themselves and they were more than hospitable. Topped off with the service was fabulously tasty food that adds its own unique flavours to the popular indian dishes in NZ. We got the prawn masala starters (deep fried prawns with a batter with spices and a cucumber and coconut mash), fried dhal for main and I also munched on a bit of my friends chicken biryani ----- beautiful! Desert was a mini gulab jamun flambé (with vodka) atop a high quality flavoured vanilla ice-cream.

Would happily recommend to all I know!

Clean, casual and comfortable with a friendly welcome.
Even though it wasn't on the menu the chef made us a cup of chai which is the best I have ever tasted.
Exceptional food. We went for lunch and it felt like we had our own dining room in the middle of Mumbai.
This the best Indian food I have eaten in almost ten years!
Fantastic value for money. I will be back.

Amazing food and service, the specialty dishes are super unique.

Awesome food and just like the food found in Mumbai. Was worth the drive from South Auckland to Silverdale! Look forward to coming there again :)

Had a team lunch there ... my favorite part is the painting on the wall, it is not sticker but an actual artist painted making it different. Malai Kebab is the best I have had in NZ :)

Possibly the best authentic Indian restaurant in Silverdale. I was impressed at the presentation of food, far more then your average curry in a bowl or mix platter on a plate, you have to dine to experience what i'm talking about. Food was very good, but the lemon soda is a must try, reminds me of India. The dessert however was really sweet, if the chefs could cut back the sugar in the Gulab Jamun and Mango Kulfi then i would have given 5 stars.
All in all a great restaurant, authentic taste and great service, fairly new but a must try if you are in the area.
