Review The Baker's Son Cafe - Silverdale

One of our must go to places to not only stock up on frozen Dad Pies but to enjoy a breakfast from the vast array on the menu and a great coffee and to grab a couple of sandwiches for later with a sweet. Always busy with local business and the cabinets always restocked consistently.

What struck me was the ease of parking, very pleasantly surprised to find it boasts a modern stylish decor, with a nice selection of seating both indoors and out. They have a fabulous selection of well priced food, excellent coffee and friendly service. A plus is the very clean and well presented bathroom. All in all a winning combination

Just had the best beef salad sandwich. Yes with real quality slices of beef & the rest of the fillings were generous and at a reasonable price. Well done to you👌

Went to drop something off at my husband's work and found this little cafe. Being in an industrial estate, I thought they wouldn't have much GF or DF choices so I left after being there for 5 minutes as they were very busy. I just left the door when one of the employees called out to me to ask if I was ok. I explained the situation and she asked if I was ok to follow her she couldn't recommend many options. It was fantastic. They even have GF pies ! They were so accomodating to me and the food was delicious. The GF pie is yummy too and coffee superb. The whole bill only came to $22. Highly recommend and thank you for saving me going hungry !

We arrived 10min before closing and apart from someone at the front table there was no one else there. We had rung prior to see if they had any vegan pie seconds available and they did! They were in the midst of cleaning up for the day but the counter person dropped what they were doing to quickly assist us. She gave us the options and quickly ran out the back to collect them. The vegan pies and sausage rolls are delicious!! Thank you so much for having these on offer.

It's a bit expensive really but they have some nice food . I'd probably go there more often if it wasn't that pricey but there's a place not too far away thats just as good

Hands down the best vegan sausage rolls & pies I’ve ever had! Usually not impressed with mock stuff, but these were incredible. Friendly staff and very well priced too! Thank you 🙏🏼

The pies here are great - decent quantity of good quality meat, not too much gravy, perfect amount of seasoning, and pastry is not greasy. The prices are also very reasonable. Plenty of dessert options too, which taste fresh and just the right amount of sweetness, though the desserts do have a lot of butter/oil. Well worth coming back to.

Really pleasant place to enjoy a pie and a cuppa. Great variety of Dads pies on offer. Freshly baked and in cabinet...nice!

I don't know these Café, but their pies are sold in our supermarket. Fantastic tasting vegan buttered chicken pies! Really worth a try if you enjoy a hearty pie with tasty punch, and is generous sized.

I had a family size mince & cheese pie for dinner with my family. It was absolutely amazing! There's heaps of cheese inside which is a bonus! It was one of the best pies I've ever had! Mince is not disgusting like other ones you might get. I'd definitely get another one soon! All my family loved it. Thanks Bakers son!

Had the steak and cheese pie based on a mate's recommendation and I'm totally hooked! The steak wasn't the fatty off-cuts you seem to find in so many other brands and cheese ratio was spot on. Plus the pastry was crispy and flaky and brilliant. To be honest I don't know how I'll go back to other brands, maybe I just won't! 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

The vegan mince and cheese pies are AMAZING! The filling holds in the pie so well, generous amount of cheese (which is all melty... how on earth do you do that with vegan cheese? All the ones I've bought don't melt like that!) ...and the pastry is divine! When cooked in an oven it was crispy and crumbly and just beautiful. Does not taste like a "vegan" pie - tastes more like what I wanted the real mince and cheese pies to taste like. And believe me, I loved my mince and cheese pies before I went all vego :) They were what I missed most ... but now I'm happy as. Oh, and just over 400cal per pie... which is really not at all that much, especially considering the generous serving size. Guilt-free from all angles! Thanks so much guys - you slayed it!

A bit of feedback. Found on 24 May 2021 near the bottom of the deep freeze, The Bakers Son family sized Angus Steak Pie... Batch Code 09.13 Frozen Use By 13 09 20... Living alone widower pensioner, I was able to get my target of at least three good sized meals from it (and none for the dog!) It was excellent, I will be chasing many more. Seriously good pies - a good pie-a-day helps keep Covid away! Many thanks team, cheers, Stu...

My family and I often drive north of Auckland to enjoy the wide open spaces. For a year or two we have often found ourselves in the Silverdale area and have enjoyed a cafe that's new to us and very clearly worth a mention. The Bake's Son Cafe is warm and welcoming and offers a great range of excellent food and beverages including gluten and dairy free offerings. This is important to us as our daughter has been gluten free for several years. Well done guys! Keep up the good work! We'll be back!

Just got one of the vegan mince and cheese pies from Countdown and OMG best vegan pie I've ever had!! Finally a pie that tastes exactly like the meat kind but better! Thank you for making these love them!!!

Many vegetarian/vegan pies and similar processed foods from the supermarket are disappointing or an effort to eat. The Bakers Son vegan mince and cheese pie is an excellent choice. The pastry is light, crunchy and delicious and the contents inside have plenty of flavour and texture. Well done.

Awesome pies. The boxes of 10 pies from the freezer are ridiculously good value and make a great way to grab a quick bite on a Friday night after work when cooking is too much of a drag. It pays to ask what frozen pies they have out the back when you do this as the selection can be a bit limited sometimes. The fresh hot pies are delicious and you have to try the butter chicken ones at least once! Good to support local.
