Review Rustic Steak House - Taihape

Such a good restraunt! Staff are so friendly and meal came very quickly, and it was a great one! First time having steak on a stone and will definitely not be my last! 100% would recomend and definitely going here again!

4.5 stars. I tried my first dry aged steak here, it was tasty with a good crust. Honestly the service (friendliness of the staff) and cozy decor sold me. Plus how they support other local businesses (there's a shop in the back). I also liked the red wine sauce that came with the steak. I'm super curious what a wet aged steak tastes like now.

Came in for dinner with my partner really enjoyed the experience the moment you walk through the door you are blowing away by the hospitality of the team from the front of house to the cooks. Made you feel at home especially sitting next to the warm fireplace on a cold winter night. We had the amazing garlic bread for entree than we had our mains my darling had the lamb and i had the curry very beautiful and fulling so didnt have any room for dessert. If you ever need a awsome place for either dinner and lunch head to rustic steakhouse Taihape. Happy to come and dine again. P.s i highly reccomend you ring to book for reservation as this place can very busy 10+/10

Called in at 5:30pm on a Friday on the way back from the North. Wow what a place, not sure if the Christmas trees are up all year round but they are amazing! So ouch to take in and so creative. The menu is extensive and has a good range of steaks, burgers, and specials. Also a vast array of drinks and cocktails. Service was 5* and quick. Highly recommend eating and visiting here if your passing through.

This ticks all the boxes of a steakhouse. Dry aged steak done to perfection. Service was great. Nothing better in the Rangitikei as far as I am concerned. Service was good. Would suggest booking in advance. They were busy when we were there.

Great a great find. Excellent meal and wait staff. There where even things hanging from the ceiling. Best chicken wings ever. And the Lamb shank would be hard to beat. Also the Lemon lime and bitters was right up there with the best. A very happy Chappie. Thank you team. Just another one if you want to dine there make sure you ring to book a table. There are very busy.

Spent years driving passed and always thought to give it a go. Well worth stopping in. Nice friendly staff and the meal was great. Open Steak sandwich this time and was cooked how a steak should be, medium rare

We stopped here for dinner on our way home from a day skiing... Amazing food, atmosphere and service. We were a party of 6 and they accommodated us all... Delicious food and great for kids too. Will definitely be back!

Driving home to Wellington after a big day at Tongariro, we were cold, wet and hungry. It was late and our options were slim - we saw Rustic Steak House and pulled in. Staff were friendly & welcoming, the fire was an added bonus - so warm & toasty. We were delighted with our meals. 100% we will be making sure to stop in on our next trip.

Lovely, warm and friendly atmosphere. Great food. Decent selection. Welcoming and attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the menu and drinks.

Been to this place several times now, both times the food has been excellent. Service too is excellent. Highly recommend the Taihape one, but the Waiouru one is pretty good too. Off road parking, and entry of it. Convivial. Photos are from the Taihape restaurant.

Highly recommended! We stopped here on our way to Wellington by chance for lunch. The food was very good. The 12h braised pork ribs were so tender and the sauce and apple mousse was very yummy. The atmosphere was super cosy with an oven and sweet decorations. Waitors were friendly. Look no further ☺️

Just found another gem. Classic older build outside, wonderful restaurant inside. Great service from the girls and then you get your meal. ✔✔✔ Whether you have been in town for a function or are passing through I recommend stopping here.

First time we had been to this restaurant. Great kids menu that includes a drink and a cookie. I had the pork belly it was absolutely delicious, cousin has spiced chicken burger he said it was the best hes had. Husband had a steak (cant remember which one) but he was extremely delighted with it. We will definitely be back. Staff were all super friendly and welcoming too. Great restaurant.

This restaurant is always good. very friendly and helpful staff. Each time we have been here the food has been excellent. Julie's salmon was outstanding. The presentation was as good as MasterChef.

Tiny play area with a few toys, but enough for the 5yo, if you can get the table positioned right by it (a bit tucked behind one table). Kids menu options. Friendly staff. Plenty of space, tables not too close together.

Had dinner here on the way to Rotorua. Absolutely loved it. One of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Thoroughly recommend the steak served on the hot stone.
