Review Double Dutch Fries - Takapuna

Best fries my wife and I have ever tried! Sauces were great. Best when it is cooked right in front of you knowing that what you're eating are genuinely fresh potatoes. Been there once - by accident and subconsciously going there for about a week now. Definitely we have found our go to place! People if you could spend $4 to $5 on large fries somewhere else? With big M and big K right in front of it? Definitely give this a try and surely, you're going to have an awesome treat!

hen we visited Double Dutch Frjes they were running a pop up with the Wise Boys and it was amazing!!!!! The fries were, as always, perfect and crunchy! My favourite sauces are the mayo and satay, always ask for onions too! The staff are so friendly and helpful! But the burgers were to die for. I’ve heard about the Wise Boys but this was my first time trying them and they did not disappoint! I had the “fish” burger and my husband had the “chicken”. The “fish burger was awesome and they coated it in amazing batter so it really tasted like a good burger, the best part was the cheese, never have I had vegan cheese like that before! A must try, and if you miss the Wise Boys pop up - go try them too!

I daily cross this amazing quick bite place while going to and fro to work. Fries with Dutch Mayo and Satay sauce together, is totally heaven. 100 times better than those McD fries. Best part, they are prepared right in front of u. Little expensive for the quantity but the taste beats it all. As hard it may be I dont wish to be regular here bcoz of the health reasons but sometimes its hard to resist. Big thumbs up !!

Nice and authentic Dutch snack bar, and definitely better than your average chips place. Not much else on offer, so just a nice snack or simple lunch. Only big downside for me was that they didn't have vegan mayo. I got to know them when I visited a vegan food festival (and from reading other reviews I'm not the only one), so it would be nice to cater to vegans here as well.

Cool little place hidden on the shore. Taste of the loaded fries was good. The pulled pork was delicious. Over all the food was OK.

Came along to the joint venture between Double Dutch Fries and the Bacon Bros. It was all the amazing dirty you could want in one meal. We had the Halloumi fries with our bacon burgers and we're fully satisfied! A pinch of extra seasoning would have been great all round though.

Crispy french fries at the heart of Auckland CBD at an affordable price. I sometimes pop by for a snack on Fri after work with my friends before heading out for dinner. And you will never be bored with their different sauces that you can choose and combine based on your mood.

Its really difficult to find fresh cut homemade chips in New Zealand and now you have. Very tasty chips and the rumour is true, they really are the best chips in Auckland. I tried the wise boys plant base menu and had the vegan fush and chups which was surprisingly really good and actually tasted like i was eatting fish when i wasn't. Only $13

Double Dutch has the best fries in Auckland. The atmosphere and quality of the restaurant is great and it's been put in a nice area too. The staff are friendly and believe in their company, and it shows. Another strong point is the price, 8 dollars for a large that I sometimes struggle to finish is an absolute steal! This place is a must if you're ever looking for a solid snack or even meal.

Best Fries in Auckland IMO, I love fries/Chips and tried most of the other recommended place in Auckland. Good food needs good service/hygiene and Double Dutch Fries meets 5/5. Really great friendly staff. Well done, I am sure your restaurant will go really far. Thank you.

Louis and the team are as much of a treat as the burgers and fries they serve. I had a succulent chick pea burger from Wise Boys with Double Dutch’s patented fries. Mm! Simply delicious. Hits the spot for an aspiring vegan. Highly recommend!

Best hot chips in Auckland! Very tender and crisp. I love the fact that you can see the process of the chips being made... right from the potato. The range of sauces is an added bonus, as you don't usually get this at other places. However I am a little sad that you got rid of the 2 for 1 deal on the Niesh app, as the price is a little high and it made it a bit more affordable being a student :)

Four stars just for great fries!!! I’d love to give you guys five stars but there’s very little options for vegans which is unfortunate because you guys are well known in the vegan community after being at so many markets/fairs so there’s huge potential for expanding your costumer base!

By far the best fries I have ever eaten. The fact that they make the fries in front of you from a whole potato shows that they don’t use cheap frozen stuff and actually care about their quality. Would recommend this to anyone!

This is the place to go if you want some good quality fries with a decent amount of toppings. I had the pink mayo and halloumi loaded fries and it was delicious, I couldn't even finish it all. Reasonably priced and good seating out the back. My only criticism would be that by the end of me eating, the fries did start to taste a tad too salty, but otherwise it was perfect.

Tried their large fries with Dutch Mayo - they have the crispiest and thickest potato sliced and fried, full with potato goodness not just fried stuff. The mayo is creamy and even cheesy I wonder if they mix both together. Great service and doesn't take long at all. DELICIOUS! Tried these yesterday at the Coatesville Markets during a torrential downpour. As upsetting as the rain was, these fries made my day. So crunchy, so soft, SO DELICIOUS!

Their Dutch Mayo sauce is simply delicious! Can’t go wrong with getting the fries here. Perfect for snacking on. The seating area and general atmosphere is chill and relaxed.

Now who doesn’t love fries? And how can one not love loaded fries! Just had my first taste today and they were just amazing. Added the fried haloumi and that was the best haloumi I have ever had.

Had breakfast here at the kumeu markets this morning, we saw a few people eating these fries , so we had to try them , Wow they were delicious 10/10

We came on the day that they did a one-off collaboration with Peach’s Hot Chicken. There was about a 15-20 minute queue and wait, but it was definitely worth it.<br/><br/>The chicken was light, crispy and not weighed down with oil, with plenty of flavour on the skin. The fries paired really well with the chicken and I loved seeing the staff slice up the potatoes right in front of us, proving just how fresh they really were. The fries were doused with a creamy cheese sauce which was delicious. Overall, a great meal and the staff seemed well-prepared for a busy day.

One of the best chips I have ever had. The three sauces were super yum especially the satay sauce. The chips were crispy chunky and soft on the inside. But I do think it's a bit overpriced for chips.

I have been walking past here so often and finally decided to give it a go after craving for some fries! <br/><br/> Deliciously golden and crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, topped with your choice of sauces. <br/>If you’re wanting good fries, come along here to give it a go! <br/> Small menu, so you’re only really here for the fries. It would be interesting to see if they expanded the menu to maybe more potato dishes, otherwise when the craving strikes that’s the only time I’ll be back

Went to the food truck (not the actual store) at britomart and had (you guessed it) their double Dutch fries. The portion feels a bit small for the price but they are super tasty and are definitely some of the best fries around!

Went to the foodtrucks at Britomart and got myself a small Double Dutch fries with the mayo and it’s pretty filling. A lot of fries in a small cone. It’s pretty simple and straight forward. I like the taste. Wish they had more sauce choices available though even for the food trucks.

We came cross this awesome place while walking around Takapuna - it’s safe to say this place sells the best chips in Oceania (we’re from Melbourne). We ordered Patat Oorlong (satay sauce). We’ve tried chips (fries) from many different places and this is the best. The combination of their special sauce, fresh onion and their chips is truly magical. Highly highly recommended for all. Hopefully they open a shop in Melbourne soon.

Everybody loves fries, but double Dutch fries has taken it to a whole new level. Thick cut fresh potatoes deep fried to perfection and then topped with a generous helping of sauce! Satay, Dutch mayo (definitely recommend) and tomato. We had them at our work today and they were a hit among the crowds 👌🏼 great service and a must try if your ever in Takapuna.

Been having the fries both at UoA on Thursdays and back when they were on Elliot Street and it never disappointed!<br/>When they opened in Takapuna I had to come try the stroopwafels! <br/>Definitely will come earlier in the day so I can get fresh stroopwafels and try all the flavours!

The fries are pretty crisp and made with real potatoes which is great! They are a bit overpriced though, sitting at $6 for a "small" They also kind of taste like regular fries so nothing too special except for the fact they are hand-cut fresh potatoes

Really neat place, the fries and beef krokets are super good. The sauces are also authentic and very tasty, and if you eat there they put it on a cool little display thing. Really fantastic presentation in general. I would honestly bump my score up to 5 if they only had a FEW more things on the menu. Like I love fries and I know fries is the focus for these guys but I need to eat a balanced meal, and sometimes when I'm really hungry, I want to go there but at the same time I dont wanna just get fries/kroket then head elsewhere for something else, because I'd have to wait twice for my food. <br/><br/>Please have something else that is filling on the menu! The Netherlands have lots of amazing food so I'm sure they can begin to include a few other things. Otherwise this place is amazing!

What do you mean it's only fries!! Take that back....fries are my happy place. if you too like fries then give this place a go. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, what more could you want. We tried the satay sauce (which was really good), and the curry ketchup (which was a little on the too sweet/fruity for my liking). Price point is not to bad, service was very pleasant and 40 Hurstmere in Takapuna is a cool little setting to go for food. I'll be back.

I’ve tried the fries in town by Elliot street so I knew this place was good. Glad I wasn’t disappointed as the fries were thick and crunchy. That Dutch Mayo with onion was sublime on the chips as well. It can be pricey if you don’t want to spend a lot on chips but totally worth it as a treat.

My fave spot in town to get the best fries around with the yummiest dutch mayo and are relatively cheap. Whats even better is their new dutch style waffles which literally melt in your mouth. This place is a must try if you haven't just yet.

Best fries in town. And that Dutch Mayonnaise...just splendid. Service was pretty good too. Just a 2 minute walk from my office...grab one and munch on some awesome fries by the beach.

I loooove their stroopies and they have a cute little display. It's freshly made. I also like their crochetes! Never knew about dutch food but a friend told me about it and now I'm hooked to stroopies

Very excited to see Double Dutch back on business since they closed down the food stall opposite countdown in Auckland CBD.<br/><br/>The atmosphere of the store is very modern and welcoming. Once you ordered your fries Regular or Large and with the sauce you like (more Satay and less mayo with red onion) then you can take a seat by the bar and await for your fries to be ready and served to you.<br/><br/>The fries and the condiments are always on point 👌 can never go wrong.<br/><br/>Majority of the staff is very polite and friendly. Hopefully they will decided to open a store in CBD in the future as well
