Review La Tropezienne - Takapuna

Fawn Berry
Best cafe in Takapuna. Love the vibe Staff were friendly and I loved the chicken roll and the cakes in the cabinet are so good .

This French bakery is the best in town. Great variety of pastries, sandwiches and great coffee as well. Totally recommended for a nice and affordable breakfast in the area.

The lady was so sweet and helpful. The dessert was so good and the store was so cozy i mean they played jazz, what more can you ask for

Perfect coffee perfect temperature, so delicious, one of the best I have had in a while. Best cheese scone I’ve had, seriously. It’s so hard to find a good cheese scone but they have mastered it. 10/10 recommend!

The food was so delicious, exactly what you'd expect French bakery goods to taste like. 12pm and the little Cafe was bustling, so a popular place for the locals it would seem! Highly recommend popping in for a tasty treat, you won't regret it!

Excellent variety of delightful cabinet food at very reasonable prices. My chicken filo was bursting with nice chicken and only cost $5.00. Good strong coffee. French atmosphere with French flair. Very popular, sometimes seating is limited.

Excellent selection of breads, cakes and pastries 🍰. Great coffee, too. A little touch of France in Takapuna.

Proper French goodies. I’m a mille feuille fan, and this patisserie makes an authentic one. All the goods that I’ve tried (many) have been executed with taste and good technique. You can count on a fresh product as they sell out almost everyday.

Coffee is very good. Pastry is average. Price is reasonable.

Very nice team and the food is perfect!

Wonderful, mouth watering fresh traditional French food beautifully presented in large spotlessly clean cabinets. Awsome coffee and friendly staff. In this covid climate this small cafe gets full quickly, unable to keep safe social distance when busy.

For a little taste of France.... try the yummies here.....you won't be disappointed. I've been coming here for years & on the whole, the consistency is pretty good.

Lovely little French bakery

I used to come here for the sweet treat. After a long time, I came here for the sandwich and a coffee for the first time. Coffee was not for me. I ordered cappuccino but I got a spilt flat white. But the sandwich was amazing. It was much better if they could toast it. I'm not sure they can do it because I wasn't offered it. However, it was cold but the bread was soft and tasty. I'll be back for the food for sure.

The pastries were average. Was expecting it to be amazing from all the hype. Perhaps I need to try the almond croissant. I still think the croissants from Amano are way better.

Good variety of sweet and savoury food. I ordered a chocolate religieuse, which I was disappointed with. The filling had a nice consistency, however was not sweet enough, and the chocolate quality wasn't very good. The pastry also didn't taste like homemade. Considering the many other cafes in Takapuna, I won't be back.

A lovely French cafe in Takapuna! Very authentic and the prices are amazing! My partner and I got 3 items for just $11! Such amazing value, the food is so fresh and flavourful. La Tropezienne is a great spot to grab lunch in Takapuna! I

Simple yet filling variety of pastries and breads. I ordered the chicken with cucumber spread sandwich and it was really delicious. The freshness of cucumber with the softness of the bread was just perfect!

My partner and I stopped by to grab brunch on the go. The staff seemed friendly but it felt like they were trying to rush all the orders even though there were only a few people ordering. We ordered a medium mocha, salmon quiche, salmon croissant, pear danish and a chocolate profiterole. The salmon croissant was delicious and the salmon quiche was good but maybe a little too greasy and soft for my liking. The coffee was good. The profiterole wasn’t great but the pear danish was good. Would go back for the salmon croissant.

friendly staff, coffee was nice (but a little bit bland) and the croissant and other bread/snacks tasted good. restaurant had a nice, warm, ambient feel to it.

I tried their morning special of a classic croissant and a coffee for $6. I asked for a soy flat white without extra charge. The croissant was a little deflated and dry but the coffee was good.
Service was ok.
Ambiance was very nice.
Would go back again.

terrible customer service but ok food,, walked in and person behind counter was serving someone else and yalled to someone else in kitchen i need someone to serve out here they argued and she said yes I need you out here to serve him, pointed at me! then I ordered a pie and dougnut which a sign said should the dougnut should have been 1.50 on a special but charge me 3.60. When I pointed this out swore at me! I paid but can't believe it! Would never go back

This cafe can be inconsistent at times. None of the food is actually made there. While having an A grading for the cafe, the food is actually made in the Browns Bay cafe, which has a B grading for hygiene. I didn't get food poisoned there but the hygiene grading given by the Council can be misleading. I once pre-ordered an apricot tart. I saw the staff writing that down clearly in the notebook. Guess what? On the day I collected the tart, there was only a rhubarb tart! There was no compensation, no freebies, no apologies whatsoever and I was forced to pay for a plum tart in the end. I only return because of their casseroles and it is a few meters away from my workplace.

Surprisingly nice little cafe and has been there for years. They make good coffee and pies. Food often sold out before 3pm. They have nice sweet biscuits for takeaway.

The caramel tartlets are really delicious. They are so creamy and tasty. The pain au chocolate is also very nice. I also had the chicken spinach soufflé or dish, and I liked it. It was healthy and rich. The café is nice, and the waiters are even nicer.

Délicieux! Great place to indulge in some authentic French pastries. I've had the classic almond croissant, pain au chocolat and I strongly recommend you try their tartlettes! The lemon and blueberry ones are very tasty! I'm also a huge fan of cream so their eclairs and puff balls always tempt me! They go fast especially in the weekends so make sure you grab one fast. I've also had their sandwich rolls and quiches for lunch. I had a mayo chicken with lettuce, it was quite creamy, but not as sensational as their desserts.

Excellent selection of sweet and savoury foods. Their baguettes are awesome, particularly the egg and chive/salmon variations. I normally make it a mission to drop by here every time I'm in Takapuna with a simple order of a baguette and a sweet of some sort, plus some coffee as it tends to generally be on a Sunday morning!

Yum!
You have to be in here quick else there is never anything left!
Staff here are awesome and so welcoming.
All their sweets are just way to tempting!
Often buy my bread from here instead of the supermarket and find it lasts longer.

The staff are always very warm and friendly, they don't mind saving you food if you can't get there in time, most of the good food has gone by 1pm because it is so popular, my colleagues always get their coffee from here and they have plenty of choice around. Always love going here :)

Food is delicious and very affordable. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. I've been coming here for a few years and I've never had bad food or service.

This cafe is overrated. Food is OK, attitude is arrogant and unfriendly and service is average. The coffee is also average, but the hot chocolate just doesn't measure up at all.

Apart from that, this cafe has just poisoned hundreds (if not more) of birds with its indiscriminate and cowardly scattering of poisoned seeds. Blackbirds, sparrows and pigeons have been dying on the streets of Browns Bay, vulnerable to dog or cat attacks and to being hit by vehicles on the road. What an unforgivably cruel and cowardly act.
