Review The Coffee Club Takapuna - Takapuna

Ted Smith
Yeah pretty good, nice seafood platter and the ceasar salad was quite nice. Mango frappe was nice, chocolate frappe was good. Service was good but overall nothing to rave about.

Great service. Excellent food. Enjoyed my end of year brunch. Eggs benedict with smoked Salmon and spinach is my favorite. I highly recommend it.

I’ve worked in numerous restaurants before so I know for a fact that the hygiene standards are not always at its best, but come on! At least get the birds and pigeons out of the restaurant! So many chairs were covered in bird drops that I struggled to find a place to sit. Not nice at all....

We always go for brunch at coffee club constellation and everytime we ask to change the bacon to chicken for the pasta, there was no extra charge. However, in Takapuna branch, they want us to pay $3 extra for it. Not nice.
Tasteful Seconds By Kyrsta Lynn
As all coffee clubs, this coffee club in Takapuna is one of my favorites. They have plenty of seating so you don't have to worry about that and the space between tables is enough that you do not hear the person's conversation next to you. I personally think between all coffee clubs the coffee usually stays the same. Decent coffee for the price. We grabbed the VIP coffee club card which gives you two for one drinks but if you do not usually go out to coffees with anyone I suggest grabbing a punch card instead. If you do not have one of these I personally think the coffee is overpriced for being a chain. However, the staff is always friendly and the drinks come out quickly.

✨My friend and I went here early morning and ordered 2 Mushroom, Feta, Spinach Omelette + Chai Latte.

Our first omelette arrived, the second one arrived 20 mins or so later when one of us had already finished eating. So one of us was sitting around waiting while the other person was having breakfast for 20 mins !!

The waitress brought us one glass of water between 2 people, so we had to request another one for a couple of times before she realised we are 2 people and need 2 different glasses for water 😒 Not happy, I have had so much better service at Coffee Club before.
The Poor Foodie
Food: 3/5
Service: 2.5/5
Overall: 2.8/5

Small sized chocolate was quite big but the price is higher than other small sized choc sold in other cafes. Perhaps because we went there quite late, the brownie was a bit tough and wasn’t really moist :/

The Coffee Club, damn oki. Been here a couple times and my expectation is never high for The Coffee Club as it's always average and never my first choice of place to eat at. My friend and I always get kids chicken, cheese & lettuce wrap that comes with fries, it's sososo tasty haha. I mean the coffee club has never been amazing it's just an affordable average place to eat at. When we paid the cute little man gave us 2 free brownies awh how sweet! x

Their mango and berry ice frappes are refreshing for hot summer days. Fast service and the lady on the counter is quite friendly. We used the buy 1 get one 1 free voucher from the Entertainment book.

Coffee and scone was good , but the pancake was so salty that all we were not able to eat our 4 orders of pancake . We told them that we are not able to eat and they said they follow the recipe and that is how it is . I think they added salt instead of sugar in the recipe .

Went here on Boxing Day and it was moderately busy. Interior is tidy and food as you would expect from other coffee clubs.
Like other cafes and restaurants, there is a surcharge for public holidays.

I went on the 9th of December to enjoy coffee after I had a lunch. I love having coffees in the coffee club but this branch was the worst. I ordered a flat white but I had too much foams — it was just like a cappuccino. So I gave it back and asked for new one with less foams and they made me a new one. However, it was still the same. The coffee was not tasty and the lady at the counter was also quite rude. I was a bit upset because I wanted to enjoy my sunday with a nice coffee but the service and the coffee they provided just ruined it. I don’t think I will go back to this place again when there are so many other places around the area, which provide better coffees and customer service.

Good coffee, tidy interiors and very spacious!! Located just on the edge of the heart of Takapuna, a very short stroll from the beach. The coffee took quite long to make which put a damper on the experience and the staff seemed quite nonchalant in their attitudes to me but for the typical cafe-dweller I could see this as a good place to chill and rewind. There is quite a high degree of diversity amongst the staff here which is a great sign that its a positive place for all involved.

Nothing spectacular, but very solid offering for your chain coffee shop.

Excellent experience as people can enjoy modern environment with a variety of food and drinks including hot and cold drinks. Highly recommend ;)

Every time I go to the Coffee Club I go to I find the food is pretty awful and not worth the price. Most recently, I regretted the order instantly and wish I had the courage to send it back or ask for a refund. I ordered a chicken ciabatta @ $18! Basically, melted cheese, dry chicken and a bit of rocket. It was awful and bland. Will never eat here again.

I visited Monday the 16th of this month and I can categorically say this was the worst experience I have ever had eating out, first of all, the interior windows were filthy, which I am sure reflected on the quality of the food, which brings up the reason for my complete distaste for the place. After eating a very small portion of food I latter become violently ill. I can only put it down to the stale pre-frozen food I received, which I sent back and had replaced with a further stale replacement. Something has gone terribly wrong with the management of this once iconic Takapuna coffee lounge. I will say, the ground staff was lovely, I feel for them working with such obvious incompetence.
Rudina
There food is always good and ther coffee and sweets are amazing. I go there for coffee all the time. I love this place. And they have friendly people.
Bright One
We have been to there for coffee and cakes twice a few months ago. Nothing was impressive but it wasn't that bad. I would like to say it's average.
P.c
waited nearly 40 minutes for a takeaway coffee which they got wrong .. food order was wrong.. ordered sides and they didn't come and then got wrong ones once they did. the girls there where nice but everyone else was very rude and food was bland and small. do not recommend.

Extremely poor experience. We arrived at 12:20 ordered two coffees when our coffees arrived we ordered to Vege Eggs Benedict. The Cafe was fairly empty when we arrived with only two other groups seated. We noticed two other groups of people that arrived 30 mins after us had already been served, we asked the waiter where our food was and he disappeared. So we asked another waiter and she said they hadn't even started making our meals and the order hadn't been put through. So we decided to leave after a full hour of waiting and went to pay for or coffees they were not apologetic at all and didn't even offer a discount or free coffees. Extremely poor service.

New owners, new experience. I've been holding off for a couple of months but now I am confident this is one of the best Coffee Clubs, a benchmark for other franchises. Previously this was very so-so, not go-back-to; now it is excellent. Food is great, service is tops. Have been back 3 times recently for lunch and will go again.
FoodieBeast
This is a late review but what I can say is that this is not the best coffee club I have been too. The staff weren't exactly friendly, coffee was cold (did not order a iced coffee) and the food was just let's just say not coffee club standards.
An Evil Stripper
The woman who took my order was very rude, and unprofessional. She glared at us constantly and demanded "WOT?!" instead of asking us to speak up.
The food tasted alright, though had lots of blue plastic in it, and for it's quality it is overpriced.
-Wort of all- We waited 40+ minutes for our drinks (Ice Chocolate and Ice Caramel) while being reassured they were being made, and eventually were told we didn't order any drinks and that those didn't exist on the menu, despite us paying for them. After some convincing they gave my partner water with cream, and me a quirt of syrup in a cup.

If I could rate it 0 I could, not sure how this place is even running.
Lizzie
The coffee was good, hence the 2. The waitress who took my order shouldn't be let near paying customers. I went to the counter where she was standing and she glared angrily at me and used an aggressive hand gesture to move me to the til. She then proceeded to look down and would not engage at all. I managed to get my coffee from the other waitress, who was good. The one I am referring to appears to be of Asian descent. Who needs that kind of energy when having a coffee break.
Sherry Huang
This place is not open til 9pm as stated, they stop serving at 8.30pm? Went in at 8.36pm on 7/1/17 wanting to order a takeaway hot chocolate however after waiting for a couple of minutes as the one staff at the counter busy on the phone, she told us that they are now closed. There was another staff collecting tables and chairs from the outside however said nothing as we walked in.

If I had to choose the dirtiest place in this country I would pick Coffee Club Takapuna without any hesitation. None of the tables get ever cleaned, customers have to clean their own tables to sit down and my gosh the toilet there...3 cubicles and every single one of them is disgusting. They really need to look into management and staff training here cause WOW embarrassment to good ol' Takapuna.

Takapuna coffee club has to be the worst yet and we have been to the others on the north shore and no complaints at all. Rang the cafe in the morning to make sure they could cater for 8-12 people for dinner just to make sure, was then told there wouldn't be a problem that would be fine.....Then as we asked to order the waitress who was very pleasant informed us there was NO eye fillet steak at all the chicken breast was very limited as well as the salmon!!!!! We still stayed and ordered, then we ordered about 6 mac gold beers for the table the waitress then informed us they had only a few beer glasses so did we mind using the water glasses we all thought REALLY stupid us still stayed. This review will just never end if i start with the food which was the most DISAPPOINTING part of the night just HORRIBLE UNCOOKED Chicken nuggets,BURNT chicken schnitzel,DRY as burgers and burnt buns cant believe we payed!!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN TAKAPUNA COFFEE CLUB YOU ARE A PUT DOWN TO THE FRANCHISE......
Katrina Donaldson
Went here with friends and it was Tuesday and we followed the rules for there special but made my friend feel so uncomfortable that she didn't get a free slice and refused when we asked! Didn't clear plates and not much water! Not appropriate music playing either!!

Go elsewhere! I had fish and chips. The fish smelled like an anchovy. The chips were too oily. You can get better quality at the Burger King nearby. Coffee is forgettable. Luke-warm super bitter coffee? Come on, I wish this review would be read by the main franchise owner, who should discontinue granting a franchise to the current owner. It isn't a surprise that the cafe is empty most of the time. The occupancy rate at that cafe speaks for itself.

One of the worst cafes. I ordered a bowl of chips. The menu states it comes with tomato sauce and your choice of mayo or spicy herb mayo, but was charged extra for the mayo. When asked the manager Bryan wad rude about it and said they will charge extra. Even if it is the case, the menu said mayo is $2.8 but I was charged a random $3.10.
Worst service.

Hit and miss. It has been there quite a while, and I suspect had a few different owners or management teams, so there is that. On the plus side, right in middle of Takapuna and open when others are not, like over Xmas/New Years. Not a bad steak sandwich. Sauces they put on always seem a bit sweet.

We have been to a couple of other Coffee Clubs and have found the food to be very good, and today we tried out the Takapuna location for lunch. It is a spacious cafe, very well located, and offers the usual Coffee Club menu. We ordered the Beef burger (accompanied by fries and salad), and the Coffee Club signature dish of Chicken parmigiana (accompanied by fries and creamy coleslaw). The food was up to standard - the burger was very good with a juicy flavoursome pattie and the chicken was succulent with a very tasty bacon and tomato topping. Unfortunately the staff were a little too casual, and the kitchen was inexplicably very slow for what was not a busy service.
Lily
Well. I had a milkshake. It was too sweet. But my friend liked her hot chocolate. The environment is nice and bright. And The waiters are polite and fast.
Tessa
The pizza bases were very nice and well priced ($16.50) the chips were nice and the cafe was quiet and peaceful the music playing was also nice.
Mikoooo
This place is very very sad both the service and the most horrible cafe ever!. Very unfriendly waitresses. They should learn how to smile a bit and enjoy what they're doing. They should hire people that capable of handling their customer. Very racist waitresses.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! BEWARE!

MONDAY AFTER 5PM DEAL: Buy ONE meal, get ONE free.

We ordered a pizza at 6pm. When we received our MEAL (we confirmed that pizza is considered a meal) we asked one of the staff members if we were eligible for the Monday deal. They told us that we had to buy ANOTHER ONE to get the free meal. I can't seem to comprehend how it became buy TWO meals and get one free when their ad clearly says you just need to buy one?

The lady who took our orders, was nice and friendly but the other lady (we asked about the meal) was a bit snobbish, let's say.

The food was nice but the after 5pm deals is very misleading so it really turned our experience upside down.
Annie Ren
Good coffee, liked the flat white and it was served pretty quickly as well! The place is quiet, spacious and is suitable for one-on-one meetings. I haven't actually tried any of their food but I found out they have daily special dinner menus which might be worth a try!
Madison Grevel
Very disappointed service was dull and the food was not up to scratch. It also took we'll over half an hour to get dishes that were good and lacking.
Lovely Maralit
Enjoyed it here! I like how although we came in after 6pm they treated us well. Food was great I really liked my nachos. I like that's there's big enough space for everyone. There were at least 10 of us ☺️
David Boshier
This place is rather sad and both the service and food lack any love. My feta roll looked like it had been run over by a bus and side salad was uninspiring and neither seemed fresh. Best to keep walking.

Giving it a 5 simply coz its one of the few places open after 6 pm.

We were seated and given menus. Waited for 15-20 mins for waitress to take our orders. We ended up going to the counter to order ourselves. My friend and my daughter's orders came while I had to wait for another 5mins for mine to arrived. We asked for the umbrella to be put up outside and the manager seemed uninterested. Terrible service and the place wasn't even busy. Would never go back there again.
Alex
The worst service I have recieved in some while and the food wasnt great either.
Yasmin Kalia
This place has seriously gone downhill, used to be really good 1-2 years back but now is just ridiculous, horrible service, very average food and completely disappointing. Would not recommend

I was a bit worried initially after reading the ratings + reviews but I was pleasantly suprised. Prices are okay (my dish the eggs benedict was cooked well with an average portion size whilst being below the $20 mark) and coffee was not bad. Staff were friendly and service was faster than I had expected. Overall a lovely experience, will be back sometime.

We used to go regularly for an enjoyable time but the last visit was disgusting. This was a quiet Sunday the floors had not been cleaned or vacuumed in weeks.
The carpets now need to be professionally washed, the roof was leaking, the toilet facilities was beyond filthy. The food was OK but pricey and small, the staff customer relations was non existent. Not worth the effort and since seeing the cleaning or lack of I/we won't be going back.

Love this coffee club.

Everytime I've been here we get treated like its an actual restaurant even if its to go get coffee and cake!
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Love the chicken club sandwich I've had it from a few different coffee clubs but whoever makes them here needs to teach the rest!
Jordan Lee
Just a really really bad cafe. Lets down the "Coffee club" brand name. I am actually taking the time to write a review because my experience here was so bad. I am generally not that picky with coffee or cake, but this place makes terrible coffee, the worst frappes I have ever tasted, and the chocolate cake was dry and old. Unprofessional, tired staff members and a gloomy atmosphere in the cafe.
Anne Forest
I know Coffee Club is not the best cafe you can go to but my parents love the carrot cake there so we went for lunch.
That place was disappointing. The foor was good, we ordered a prawn risotto and a vegetarian pasta for lunch. But the service was really slack. It was not busy at all. No one came to clear our plates and maybe ask for a coffee... So we had to get up, go to the counter and ask for a coffee... order some dessert. The plates still were not cleared and the waitress was hanging around not doing much... I tried to make eye contact with her a few times but nothing. So I went to the counter and asked if we could get our plates cleared from the table before we get our coffees and desserts... Finally... Our desserts arrived... the waitress left (maybe finished her shift of on a break). The barista walked to a table with what it seemed a gass of water for himself... for a break? So there is no service at all? We still did not have the coffees, I looked at him and he realised he had given our coffees to another table... He made our coffees which were really bitter we could not drink them. I'm not even sure if they know how to set their grinder and machine to be honest.

Good food, bad service.
Kali Windmill
I wanted to have my hot chocolate there but the woman told me they were closing soon and only were taking takeaway cups only then i looked around me there were 2 people sitting there 1 on her laptop and another having a glass of wine when i turned to look at the kitchen the chef was frying up look like to me fish and chips anyhow i said it was fine and ill take away my hot drink i was SHOCKED the hot chocolate was terrible i mean freaking terrible worst hot chocolate I've EVER had and I've had a few terrible ones but this was down right horrible I could not taste the hot chocolate all I could taste was milk and they're a coffee house where they should be able to make a decent hot drink, never again!

We ate at the Coffee Club Takapuna tonight, the food was fast, generous and delicious. The service was great.

I went down to the Coffee Club takapuna last week as around the beach. Normally we got to the beach cafe but this time we chosed the Coffee Club as they provided some promotion card, like free hot drinks with breakfast. It surprised me that we had a lovely brunch and great coffee this time. Since several negative feedback I reviewed, I guess this good experience is because of they are under new management.
It looks like all the staffs are fresh and willing to help with passion. And they coffee tastes good, as well as the bacon and egg.

I gonna try their meal sometimes, as they might open at night and serving wines.....
Sam
We ate at the Coffee club Takapuna for the first time a few weeks ago. We normally go to the same branch in the Glenfield mall which is absolutely fantastic. Takapuna branch unfortunately is not fantastic.
Looks good and the service we had was good but the meals were disappointing, my husband had the breakfast with the steak and he couldn't eat it all, which is unusual.. Steak was a cheap cut of meat, bacon was not real bacon and eggs were not nice.. He said he really didn't enjoy and was bitterly disappointed

The price you pay at Takapuna is not worth the food you get. Glenfield is the same prices but I certainly don't mind paying it as there meals are top notch.

Won't ever go back to Coffee club takapuna, even if it was free.

Had brekkie here last month and got the most delightful service from wait staff to management. Reading other people's reviews I'm somewhat surprised as this is not my regular Coffee Club store. Though its my closest. We drive all the way to Dressmart Coffee Club in Onehunga for the BEST Steak Sandwhich & beautiful crunchy golden fries

Agree the prices are expensive for most of its items, eg. xtra charges for each rasher of bacon... BUT the Hot Chocolate made by Nick arrived piping hot & the Big Breakfast with a barely cooked steak (still had blood) Not what i had requested was handled perfectly by management. Their gave me 50% off the meal. Will return mainly because of Customer Service. It was quiet. Staff were friendly and nobody rushed to bother you for the Wknd Herald!!

I saw the daily deal for 1/2 price on second meal after 5pm posted on the window so went for dinner with my hubby this evening (12 August 2011).

We ordered 2 meals from the blackboard menu, Eye fillet steak and fish fillet, $23.90 ea, plus 1 beer. After my husband paid, we noticed there is no ½ discount on the second meal we ordered and we questioned the manager why and were told these two meals were not considered as main courses. She even said it is always the customers’ responsibility to ask what will be included in deals before we start ordering and it was my fault for ordering a blackboard meal rather than from the printed menu. After the bit argument with the manger, she started to blame on the computer system and she said she cannot process the refund in the computer system because the computer system won’t allow her (what a interesting lie, never heard of any retail system cannot process refund) and she even gave me another example to support her excuse of she cannot override the computer system. Once the Eftpos machine run out of the paper, she cannot do anything with it either and the customer was furiously left. I cannot see any connection with my case. Anyway, I just guess that customer left with unhappiness. What a GREAT customer service.

I am very disappointed with the experience that I had had and cannot believe the manager’s attitude. Plus no indication on the black board menu, the poster itself, or anywhere that the meals ordered were excluded from the deal. We just feel misled by the advertising and feel unfair to be blamed for our ignorance.

Definitely will not go back again.
Janet
the service did not give me time to look what tea they have but still she was quiet friendly but trading hour said open until 9pm and We got kicked out 8.10 pm and that's sucks. its nice and clean tho.
Sandy Ratana
I would never eat at this place again and I will be sure and tell everyone I know not to either.

Went for brunch with my family, place was pretty empty as we had tried a few places which were absolutely jammed pack. Should have taken that as an omen and not gone in but by this time I was hungry and couldn't be bothered looking for anywhere else to eat.

Service initially was ok. Ordered coffees then 5 mins later ordered our breakfasts.

I had the big breakfast with poached eggs and at $20 expected alot better than what I got. It arrived some 15 mins after we ordered it, bacon was the processed stuff, poached eggs like a hard boiled egg, sausages overcooked and slightly shrivelled up, mushrooms thinly sliced and dry. I was so disappointed I didn't even eat a quarter of my breakfast and to top it all off, coffees arrived just after our breakfasts had.

I'm a big believer in if your not happy, let the manager know. I don't always expect to get anything in return, but in my view if you tell them, they might listen and make improvements and you'll come back again.

I went to the counter and asked to speak to the manager. The coffee guy had a badge on which said he was the duty manager and when I told him I wasn't happy with the breakfast he said I needed to speak to the other manager. He called over the "other" manager Jessie who it turns out was the store owner. When I started to tell her I was disappointed with the breakfast, she looked somewhat surprised and ask what the problem was. When I started to explain to her about the eggs etc, she said if I wanted runny eggs I should have asked for them. The whole time I'm trying to explain things to her, she kept talking over the top of me saying "we sell alot of those breakfasts and no one ever complains". When I said to her excuse me you are not listening to me she said I'm too busy for this and walked off. I was absolutely stunned. I wasn't making a scene, I was trying to explain to her constructively and discreetly. I looked at the other manager and asked if she was serious and he said I'm sorry but there isn't anything I can do about it. When I asked if there was someone more senior to talk to he said she was the owner. I then asked for her details and told them I would be ringing the Franchise owner and complaining about her.

I definitely won't be returning to this place ever again. Its too overpriced for absolutely nothing spectacular. Who/where in this day and age do you get a breakfast with processed bacon???? Honestly, I would've got a better quality breakfast at Denny's for half the price.

Beware!!!! Stay far, far away from this place!!!

People often only review places when they have bad service. I meet here with a large group for our business meetings and have found the service , atmosphere and food to be consistently good. Would recommend.

My Group meets at the Coffee Club every now and then and I must say they go out of the way to help us. By Providing Water for guests and Great Fast Service with Coffees. This place is Great for Lunch.

The Service has Improved a lot over the last few Months. A+
John Cox
I have eaten lunch at the Coffee Club in Takapuna three or four times recently.

Each time I have felt that the service was reasonably good, but the food was over priced for the quality and quantity. For what are really very high prices, quality and presentation, and even taste, was sorely lacking. Even the coffee was far from the best I have every had. And no marshmallows, generally de rigueur now in Auckland!

Today I had pancakes. They were tasteless, and hard. Easily the worst I have ever eaten in a cafe or restaurant anywhere. This was accompanied by a small amount of icecream, which from its taste was tiptop. And a small mound of whipped cream - clearly sprayed from a can. I would have expected superior quality icecream, and real cream, for the price. Not supermarket quality. And there were no extras, apart from the maple syrup. Usually such a pancake dish comes with extras, including bacon, etc. Not at the coffee club, apparently.

A couple of weeks ago I ordered the Coffee Club breakfast. Again cheap ingredients. Ordinary white bread for toast, plain miniature sausages - nothing spicy or exotic - and only half a small tomato. And everything was thrown together on the plate with no thought for presentation. This wasn't the worst breakfast I have eaten in a cafe, tastewise, but it was probably the worst presented.

Then a couple of months ago I had one of the soggiest salads I have ever had the misfortune to eat.

All-in-all, I don't think that I will go back to this place.

I suggest that they sack the chefs, and start buying the quality of ingredients that their prices indicate that they should be using.

During the holidays, I like to treat the kids to a lunch date, not Macdonalds or burger King but something a little special. I am writing a book at the moment on value for money with your kids, as living in Auckland and those special treats are now few and far between. We arrived in Takapuna at 12.30pm no one in the Coffee Club only a couple of tables were full. The prices were expnsive, but I thought, it would fill my 6 ft 15 year old and my 13 year old daughter. Abigail is a vegetarian and the Nachos retailed at 15 dollars and Sam ordered a Gormet Burger!!! Two capachinos also ordered. The staff were not too bad, service was slow considering the few customers to deal with. Coffee came, cold. Nachos came not $15 worth at all, very small in fact for other lunchtime meals we have had in Auckland city. Sams Gormet Burger was slapped between two slices of cheap bread, a pinch of salad and not even a handful of chips for $12. Very very disappointing, we will never go again. Its hard enough on a budget treating the kids, but I felt ripped off and was fully charged for the vegetarian portion of Nachos which were not even $2 of food on that plate. We have travelled far and wide over the years and love New Zealand, but this was poor value for money, I am surprised they havent had more complaints. Please use this as constructive critisism, you will be low on my list in my new book.

This was the worst breakfast that I've ever had at a cafe with equally bad service.
We went to The Coffee Club Takapuna around lunch time on Sat 03/07/09 wanting to get some breakfast and the waitress confirmed that they have an all day breakfast menu. Our waitress took more than 5' to find some menus. We order eggs with sausages and tomatoes on toast, which the waitress noted down and when confirming our order she commented "sorry I can't read my writing, how do you want your eggs again?". Our coffee arrived relatively fast after about 5', however about 10' later our waitress came back with 2 cutlery sets and asked "You haven't eaten have you?" before placing the cutlery down. We were not impressed with her lack of attention to customers, given that she only had 1 other table to serve. Our food finally arrived after 15' and was extremely plain and disappointing, especially for the price charged and the modern, high quality look of the place. Scramble eggs was cold and under seasoned (no seasoning!)with half a tomato that looks like it was not cooked at all. The sausages were over cooked and have slightly shrunken. There was no tomato sauce in sight and we had to ask for some. Our waitress did come back and asked if our meal were ok, we were too uninspired and unimpressed to even comment on how bad the experience has been so far.
Our weekend brunch was fully ruined and we would never recommend anyone to go there at all.
Robbie
A friend and I went to The Coffee Club (Takapuna) today for a late brunch (and to get out of the sub-zero temperatures). The place was humming, with all but a few tables filled with an assortment of different people - and it was WARM! We placed our orders and our drinks came within 4 minutes - something of a record when the place was so obviously busy. Our waitress was charming and even came to let us know how far away our food order was. (Top marks for this.) And now to the food. I ordered calamari and without a doubt it was the best calamari I've had for a very long time! Had a wonderful lime zest to it, the fries were hot and crisp and the salad actually had stuff other than lettuce leaves in it, and wasn't drowned in dodgy dressing.
My friend and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the level of service. I couldn't fit dessert after my meal, but there were some pretty exotic looking examples in the cabinet. Maybe next time. I'm definitely recommending you try this place. It's family-friendly and the prices are really reasonable (always good in a recession.) Well done Coffee Club - we'll visit again soon.

This was the worst dining experience I have had for a long time.

I ordered the middle eastern option & p; asked if I could have baked beans instead of ham as I am a vegetarian I was told that under no circumstance's could they swap anything round.
When my breakfast came the eggs were raw. So raw my knife couldn't even pierce the slimy mess. When I told the waitress that there must be some mistake as my eggs did not appear to be cooked she agreed with me & took the plate back to the kitchen. She appeared two minutes later to tell me that was the way the chef cooked his eggs & if I didn't like it too bad. I told her to take the meal away it was inedible & to her credit they didn't charge me for it.
I will certainly not be returning to a restaurant that is uncompromising & obviously has untrained chefs.

Went to coffee club Takapuna at 9pm last night for coffee to be turned away. Very unimpressed with their lack of service considering the glass windows surrounding the coffee club display "OPEN 7DAYS TILL 10PM". When I asked one of the staff "are you closing?" he replied "yes, we close early depending on the customers." so I replied "So your turning customers away?" and he simply replied not too bother "Yup, maybe next time". Would not return again.

I went to The Coffee Club today and had a really bad experience. This was my 4th visit there and i am sure i wont be going there again. I ordered a Avocado and roasted pumpkin salad- vegetarian option and the manager got me some sprout salad with chicken. I sent it back saying that i am a vegetarian and had not ordered this. The manager takes the order back to the kitchen and a few minutes later i am served with similar looking salad (not the one i ordered) with chicken pieces picked from the salad i sent back. I only found this coz the cook picked the chicken pieces out from the salad i sent back (forgot to remove a few pieces). I had to send it back and told the manager the problem...She told me that this was the salad and i had asked for .... i explained to her that i had ordered the avocado salad. I told her i would like the salad i ordered and would not pay for their misgivings. I used to love going to The Coffee Club in Takapuna but after this experience i would not go again.
