Review Sorrento Italian Dining & Wine Bar - Taupo

What a magnificent experience. Everything was just perfect. From the moment we arrived, our welcome, the menu and specials board, our drinks the atmosphere and the food was all exceptional. If you want to try great Italian fair. You will not go wrong here. Our experience deserved additional stars.

Had a really good meal here. Food was comforting and what you'd expect from a small Italian restaurant, the wine was nice, and the staff were great. The best thing is that almost all of the gluten free dishes can be made safe for coeliacs. The only thing that has a higher chance of cross contamination is the pizzas, due to the area they're prepared in so they suggested we avoid the pizza. Didn't have any reaction to the food so we have full confidence they make an effort for coeliacs in the kitchen

The staff were super accommodating and responsive. The food was delicious! I can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

Loved eating here! The food was delicious and so was the wine. I thought this place was fairly priced. The atmosphere was really nice, with the nice warm fire burning as you come in.

Went for dinner last night with my work mates. And absolutely loved everything about the place. Staffs were so friendly and welcoming. Ordered scotch fillet and it came out just as perfect as it could be. But sweet and spicy cocktail was winner of the evening. And ended up with yummy affogato ❤️.

Absolutely amazing service and the food is delicious, I feel it needs a little more seasoning. The brownie we ordered for one of my daughters was very nice so ordered another for myself but unfortunately it was completely different texture like it was uncooked or not heated enough as it's apparently not made on-site, it felt very heavy and sickly not being cooked and quite runny texture. Apart from that I think the service was amazing. Olives were yummy and pizza cheesy garlic bread tastes superb. Pasta dishes needed more salt. Again - service was amazing and the speeds the food was brought to us was impressive.

Had a wonderful dinner here! Enjoyed the ambiance and fantastic service from staff. Ordered the garlic cheese bread and grilled vegetables to start and then got the spaghetti bolognese and the pollo fettuccine. Everything was super fresh and delicious, so I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great meal!

This was a delightful dinner experience. The service and food were both superb. We shared all of the dishes including calamari fritti (with a delicious seafood sauce), beef carpaccio (super thin with capers, Parmesan and a healthy dousing of high quality olive oil), the special risotto with marinara (this was a standout as it was a rich, perfectly cooked risotto witha good variety of seafood), polenta sticks, broccoli, and the absolutely fall apart beef cheeks (in a plentiful, rich jus that I loved). We finished it off witha tiramisu which probably just needed a bit more coffee. Overall we loved our visit!

Tasty dinner, staff coped well with a full house. Don’t be afraid to flag down staff if you need another drink. They have a fantastic menus, everything smelt and looked delicious. We had beef carpaccio, spaghetti bolognaise, and special squid ink risotto with king prawn, shrimp and chorizo ♥️ Devine. Hubby also has almond crusted broccoli which was perfectly done. A busy, great spot for a tasty Italian meal xxo (only remembered to take one photo as was too delicious to stop for pics lol)

Great place would definitely recommend the service was amazing Binto the waiter was so happy to serve us and made our experience fantastic. Food did not take long however my slow cooked pork belly was to die for.

First class service and food! The chef's special bbq pork ribs were outstanding and a nice new addition to the menu.

Went for dinner here for my kids. The service staff were very friendly. They had quite a full restaurant of people dining, and things were a little slow but understandable given staffing issues around COVID. Everyone has been hit similarly. One or two ingredients were not available for items we ordered but they were able to substitute where they needed to and they kept us informed. The food was good and the meals were a good size too. I want to go back and try some more cocktails 🥰

Woah! Okay, first things first! As most people have commented before us, the staff is incredibly sweet and thoughtful. We had a killer 14 mile hike and craved carbs and came here to enjoy pasta. I altered the penne pasta on the menu to have fettuccine and chicken, and LET ME TELL YA - my tastebuds were so happy! Delicious wines were on the menu. OH, and my partner ordered the carbonara and LOVED it. We totally discredit and completely disagree with the recent comments that said the food had no flavor - we found that incredibly hard to believe. Also, giving a restaurant a 1/5 stars when the staff is so stellar is a sign that the person leaving the review is just…unpleasant 🫣🫣🫣. Pro tip- if you click on the profiles of those people, they tend to only leave bad reviews…never good reviews. I wish Google would flag them! Thanks for making our night so wonderful. ****If you own this restaurant you need to help your staff and hire another head or two - these humans are working HARD, and when it’s ‘that’ obvious it makes us feel bad!

Finally a great meal in NZ. Proper Italian food, my kids love the food. Carbonara was a standout! Pizza is great as well. Ate here twice in 2 days!

Beautiful atmosphere,service with a smile, delicious lasagne and incredible cocktail and drink menu. Very fast service and always checking in on you. Will go back to try slow cooked pork belly

Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Our kids loved the pasta and have insisted on coming back. So we ended up eating here twice in our 3 day trip to Taupo. Staff are great.

Just what we expected from an amazing Italian place in Taupo. The food was great and the recommendations made us very pleased. The male wait staff who served us was also helpful in checking in on us. Thank you for the great hospitality and food!
