Well, I'm embarrassed to say but my wife and I accidentally ate it all before we could show off our lunch.
Our only regret of the whole experience is that we didn't get two scoops! 😅🤣
I can say that this was the best fish and chips we've ever had. The chips were light and fluffy yet slightly crispy on the outside, they were filled with flavour!
The snapper was crumbed to perfection and was the best snapper I've ever had. It wasn't dry or undercooked, or too chewy. We will be back before we head back to the land down under. We will be spreading the word!

Good store with plenty of range & options .
Staff were most welcoming for us tired travellers . The snapper cocktails & chips went down well & I appreciate use of good oil & the lemon 🍋 & chicken salt .

Also, ignore bad reviews from long time ago, I'm not sure how was it before, but owner has changed few months ago, and now this place definitely deserves much higher than 4.1!!!
Very delicious fish & chips. Fish batter is just a thin layer n very crispy. Not many places in the world have this type of quality. No oil taste. But do check your order before leaving as they forgotten to give us our fried mussels otherwise all good.
The service is always incredibly friendly, the chips are my favorite in Taupo and always extra crispy as requested - I highly recommend the extra crispy chips, since the new owners have taken over I have also become a fan of the fish, which if you weren't a fan of previously like I wasn't give it another try and hopefully your experience will be like mine extremely tasty.

Plenty enough for one person, really good sausage, tasty fish, was not too keen on the fritter though, none of it was too greasy as far as fried food goes...
Stepson had "The Works Burger" and said it was really good...
The food deserves high praise. It was well cooked and hot. Personable service.
Friendly service. Great burgers and loaded wedges. We also got a seafood boil, I think it was worth the $50 we paid. I would call catch 22 more of a "boutique" fish n chip shop. Good food but a bit pricey.
Clean, Freindly, everything visible, fresh snapper, nice scallops and oysters, good batter, oil/fat clean, kumara chips really good.
Would have been 5 stars except for food being overcooked.
I know this is how some people like it.
Not me.
I will probably go there again, but ask them if they can cook it less.
Best Fish and Chips we've had since returning to New Zealand last year. We read the reviews and glad we ignored a few minor comments and experienced this for ourselves. The young lady working was amazing, friendly, tentative and her cooking was outstanding. We had Gurnard, Snapper, Scallops and Mussels with chips!!! Stunning
