Review The Med Cafe - Tauranga

The meals here are sensational. Everything is made on the premises using only the freshest local ingredients. The barista made coffee is also excellent. The Med (as it is fondly known) has maintained consistently high standards over many years. There is nowhere else I would rather go for delicious food during the day in Tauranga.

The Med is a great place to have a good coffee, it has a great atmosphere and buzz, it was busy!! Sat in the sun outside and has a lovely lunch. The service was quick and the food was good ( reasonably priced) We will go back again

One of the best cafes in Tauranga! I’ve been wanting to visit for weeks and finally got the chance today. Immediately the staff were so friendly and welcoming from the moment we entered! Service was very quick and staff were all lovely. The food was beyond expectation and came out quickly despite how busy it was. Portion sizes were plentiful and the quality of food and beverages was top tier. If you ever get a chance you need to go here! Prices are fair and worth what you pay for. Very happy customer will be back again soon… recommend the Whittaker hot choc was delicious :)

We mostly came to try the bagels but were disappointed because they tasted more like regular bread than real bagels. On the other hand, the omelet we tried was terrific. Plus we loved the cozy atmosphere inside and the good service. So this gets an easy five stars in spite of the bagels.

What a great little find for us! Well, it took as a while but clearly there are many other people that have been enjoying the awesome food and outstanding service for a lot longer than us. My partner is vegan and they had great suggestions and went out of their way to make a delicious breakfast. I LOVED the food. Made with love and the service was second to none. Will definitely be back!

Great place for a farewell breakfast with family after a special reunion. Delicious food choices and the best Gluten Free bread we have ever eaten. It was great to also have the choice of small or regular eggs Benedict.

What an excellent little cafe... very cool! We stopped off here Sunday morning prior to heading back to auckland after checking out of our hotel. Coffees and breakfast ordered and man were we happy. I had the porridge which was perfect for a winters morning and my partner had the pancakes... all was brill. Service was impeccable and the coffee ranked a good 4.5 out of 5!! Highly recommended stop if you are in town... parking outside and generous seating both inside and outside the cafe.

We were looking for a nice spot to have brunch and this place didnt disappoint,food was lovely, however,this regular lady ( Niki )was super rude... We were sitting in the middle of table for 2s and niki walks in and she sat right next to me without even acknowledging us making us move to the table next to it! We probably never go back there although the food was great just not to meet lowclass entitled people like NIKI.

Everything is nice about this place, good n well presented food, good price and nice drinks. Im a tourist and this is a very decent local cafe✨✨

Excellent food and service. I ordered the Full Monty which was done to perfection. My only complaint was that the bread that came together with the big breakfast was too boring - but that's just my personal preference. Everything else on the plate was perfect.

we were looking for a cafe with some vegan / dairy free alternatives and came across The Med! i followed a review saying the vegan pancakes were good, and I’m so glad I did. those pancakes were the BEST i’ve had in awhile! the staff was super friendly and on top of helping us out. plus the coffee was great. i highly recommend!

Wide Range of excellent coffees, top latte produced by skilled baristas using Karojaz coffee beans freshly ground, wide selection of delicious food, eggs bene with Ham off the bone and blueberry pancakes without equal. Warm cosy welcoming feel, wonderful staff and boss. The top establishment in Tauranga...a second home for me. Highly recommended by me as your local Google guide . Try it soon. A final word on the coffee scene, The Med still top for coffee, Karajoz decaff strong creamy the blueberry pancakes, bacon and maple syrup is Yum, still my second home. Still the go to place in the city, try it. Recommended by your level 6 Google guide.

Best breakfast in NZ! salmon avocado spinach and roasted tomato vagal with hollandaise! Amazing!

Used TripAdvisor to find a cafe in tauranga for brunch. The Med was top of the list. I can see why!! Amazing service, matched by fantastic food and priced well. Highly recommend. Thank you The Med.

Service was sloppy, the waitress looked hungover. The toast I received was soggy in the middle and to top it off my eggs were over done. After all this I complained and the owner disregarded my disappointments. Overall bad brunch experience. Sorry.

Last time I was in Tauranga I came here for breakfast and not only was the breakfast outstanding but the friendliness and attitude of all the staff... especially in today's times was absolutely amazing. Today 6 months later I am back and came directly here for lunch. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed on arrival BUT guess what......the amazing team said they would re open it for me. Incase this wasn't enough customer service they then also modified one of the dishes to accommodate my eating requirements. My steak sandwich was outstanding but even there basic hot chips are yummy. There presentation is beautiful. You cannot fault The Med. Spoil yourself and treat yourself to service, yummy well presented food and a true eating experience... .rather than just a meal at another resturant. To the entire team at THE MED in Tauranga well done!......I look forward to eating here everytime I visit.

Fabulous food and excellent service! We had breakfast at the Med twice, and the everyone in our family loved the experience. And even though the cafe was really busy on Labour Day, the staff and service great! When in Tauranga next, will definitely be back!

The food drinks and service is awesome. We live in Auckland but whenever we stay the night in Tauranga this is the place we go for breakfast.

You should try this restaurant for delicious cuisines and their pies. Located in central Tauranga, this place has a Portobello mushroom sandwich which very few places would stand a chance against.<br/><br/>The med has amazing food but the wait can be significant. We reached at an odd hour so it was just us, still it took them over standard time to process our food orders. So yeah that's a thing to know and keep in mind.

Every time it is 10 out of ten. Try the carrot cake. Hot chocolate like never, it comes with real choc bars in it. Great service. Come here every time we visit from Auckland

Visiting Tauranga for the weekend I happened upon this place as I strolled towards the waterfront. The staff were brilliant and I haven’t ever seen cafe staff so friendly and helpful! The coffee was really good and so was the Mediterranean stack which came with a generous amount of sour cream and a tangy tomato salsa. <br/>Only thing was the stack could have been a little hotter...

This place is a bit of a hit and miss. The location is handy and it is known to be a 'trendy' cafe - however it is quite crammed inside. The food is okay, they offer a variety of treats and cabinet variety is great. Would say that it is a decent place to have a reliable meal.

Food and coffee is good here. Unfortunately the wait for food is ridiculous. Even drinks took about 15 mins. The first time we ordered food from the menu so I understood that it would take a while. But the second time we came here we ordered from the cabinet and waited 25 minutes! Just for something to get heated up. People who ordered after us received their orders before we did. The place is too crammed in also. And walking through a kitchen to get to the toilet seems pretty unhygienic. Won't be back again.

First time I went my mocha was awesome. Second time was such a disappointment, hence have not been back since then for my mocha. The barista was different on the two occasions so that may have contributed. Service is good from the staff who check up on you to, and I did quite enjoy my buckwheat pancakes which were fluffy and not too sweet. Lots of options whether if you're after cabinet food or a meal.

Ordered eggs benedict with poached eggs and salmoln. Quite disappointed as eggs were hard and meal was cold and dry.<br/>Would not visit again for multiple reasons.

If you are after some cabinet food, I would suggest coming an hour after they open.  If you get here too early like what I did, there will be limited amount of cabinet food ready for purchase.<br/><br/>Came away with a coffee and a muffin.   I am use to muffins and scones to be warmed and then given a small package of butter.  Here, they butter your muffin/scones for you.<br/><br/>The Med offer a breakfast and lunch menu where they are willing to do anything from the menu in takeaway form if you are in a rush.<br/><br/>Please visit my website for an indepth review.

I love this place! It's close to work, the staff are lovely, the coffee is fantastic and the food is delicious! They also have gluten free food options and almond/soy milk. Seating inside and out depending on the weather. It's such a great place to have a coffee and a snack

Great coffee, food and service! The only downside is that it's quite dark and small inside, and could do with some light and space. But hey, that's me being fussy.<br/>Otherwise I am always very happy when visiting The Med!!!

EXCELLENT coffee. Wonderful, friendly staff - you can sit and take a leisurely cup of coffe and chill out without being 'pushed' out. Food was fantastic too ...
