Review Le Chat Noir - Tauranga

Fantastic little cafe that would fit perfectly in the cafe capital of the world - Melbourne. Didn't get any pics of the food/drink we had but it was all delicious. Can't wait to Go back there!

My husband and I had a lovely coffee date this morning. I had a small flat white with oat milk and the coffee was nice and strong (a touch on the sour side), and the milk was very smooth. I will definitely come back. The staff are so friendly as well! Really cute atmosphere 😊☕️

Cute place, it feels really homey. The coffee was great. Mocha was great as well. It was quiet enough to have a good conversation. The food seems pricey, but I didn't try it...

Great Cafe! Service is always friendly, quick and really good. Food is beautiful esp their homemade aioli...and they make a perfect Spiced Chai. All round, a definite recommend to people wanting good coffee, food and service 😊

Beautifully positioned Cafe. Food on point. Great service, they have made their own very boutique atmosphere.

Great wee cafe nestled away in Greerton. Staff are really friendly and the coffee tastes great which is a huge bonus. Great variety of things to eat and everything on offer in the cake/slice stall looks amazing. What I've had to eat tasted great. You won't be disappointed by stopping by here for a bite, or just a cup of coffee

Wonderful French Cafe. The latte was so good I had to get another one to go. My salad was fresh and crisp. Also, my wife loved her crepe. We had a lemon tart for desert that sweet and delicious. 5/5

The staff were extremely accommodating of my dietary constraints and made me a lovely lunch so that I could eat with my friend. Excellent service. Lovely food.

Good food and coffee. Good value. Friendly. Quaint setting - old (antique?) couch near a sunny window, tables on pavement, a quiet back room. Whenever we're in Tauranga, this is our go-to Cafe.

Went for lunch, really nice food, hot coffee which is nice. Yes would go again. Service was quick and polite.

The chicken baguette is a must have! Absolutely delicious. And cabinet food always looks amazing. The Nutella crepe is delicious - not too sweet!

Our first visit with family on the 27th Sept. We had very delicious crepes and the coffee was fabulous. We will be back again in a couple of weeks to meet family again. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

Had the breakfast crepes and French toast. Outstanding meal. The bacon and mushrooms were particularly tasty.

Gluten free Crepê was beautifully done! Coffee was tasty, service a little slow but understandable as the restaurant was very busy!

Lovely service, child-friendly and offers a wide range of savoury and sweet crepes. The crepe was just light, fresh and nice. Hope to visit this place again.

Coffee is nice but whoever cooked the crepe with cheese mushroom etc must have put 1 kilo of salt on it so bad I can still taste the salt in my mouth several hours later!

I'm not sure if I will ever go back again I am so upset

Was really looking forward to going here for my 50th birthday with family for lunch.
Big fan of crepes but like most people like them hot when presented.
These where cold and so unpleasant.
Nice lady who looked after us but couldn't hear her at times as a large family group where playing some type of game that the restaurant had provided and consonantly had every thing crash in the floor, 2 couples left their meals, paid and walked out and still no staff approached this group.
What a waste of a birthday , time and of course the expense as this place anit cheap for what one gets.
Sorry but simply cant recommend this establishment to anyone.
Will try maybe to go for Dinner to see if the atmosphere is more well shall we say "professional" than what their Sunday lunch offer is.

Had my 30th birthday lunch there with 20 people during a busy Sunday in April. Food was devine, service was prompt and the owners did everything they could to accommodate us. Sells the best chocolate brownie in Tauranga.

This was once a great little café/restaurant, which served authentic French food, buckwheat crepes and other delicious things. The current owners have taken the uniqueness away, the menu and cooking has become very ordinary. Some of the staff are very friendly and approachable and others can be downright rude, especially to older customers. It's disappeared from the top of my list. Definitely not consistent in service.

Went to Le Chat Noir for lunch with My wife and Daughter, thought we would try for something different
a bit disappointed , my daughter couldn't have any crepe as had either mushrooms or the fancy cheeses which she does not like asked if she could have the creamy chicken with out mushrooms was told they couldn't do that, she ended up with the bun with chicken in it bread was tough hard to eat, wife and I had crepes they were ok a bit rich for our taste, Iced coffee wasn't as good as others I have had, probably won't be back, price a bit steep for what you get.

I am a regular with family and friends. Love the crepes and coffee is always good (particularly when the young Maori girl barista does it, she's lovely). The slices are delicious and a nice cafe overall.

Had breakfast at Le Chat Noir with my boyfriend and decided to order 1 savoury and 1 sweet crepe. We had the breakfast crepe with bacon, sauteed mushrooms, bacon & egg and the rhubarb butterscotch crepe. Was the best crepes we've tasted and savoured every bite of it! Lovely atmosphere.

I visited Le Chat Noir a week ago. I had the chicken, mushroom & sundried tomato crepe of which was missing mushrooms. I also ordered an iced chocolate as someone else that had done a review recommended, and they were right. Best iced chocolate I have ever had. Bought 4 since I have been but no other place can compare. Will be back again but will specifically ask for mushrooms in my crepe next time. Atmosphere is very warm & homely at the same time as being elegant.

Went to Le Chat Noir today. My wife and I had lunch and coffee which we be found to great. I had a salmon baguette and my wife a crepe and they were just perfect. The service was friendly and polite. The atmosphere was lovely.
It is the best cafe I have been to in Tauranga and will return sometime soon.

My son introduced me to Le Chat Noir after going through his French class at school, and we've loved it ever since. Superb service, excellent food and the best iced chocolate you've ever tasted.
The best cafe for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea (awesome slices and cakes on the counter!), and dinner which could be an intimate, romantic dinner for two or a celebration with friends and family.

On Mondays and Fridays after exercise class our reward is always coffee at "Freddies" There could be four or twelve of us, it makes no difference to the excellent service.
We are always recognised as old friends and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.

I loved this place. The food was so delicious, as was the coffee. We would definately come back. My one reservation was that I told our sweet waitress I was allergic to honey and when my salad arrived, I asked her "is there honey in that dressing?". She assured me there wasnt as she had talked to the chef.. however a few minutes later she reappeared and said that there was honey in the dressing. The quickly remedied this, but as someone who is highly allergic to honey, I wished there had been 'assurance' that my dietary needs were adhered to seriously. I think they simply removed my salad and replaced it.. but as the dressing tends to pool on the plate, I did find it hard to truly enjoy my scrumptious dinner.

Le Chat Noir - Greerton has a great place to stop for some of the best coffee I've tasted.
Have just visited twice in two days. Saturday mid afternoon for a coffee and dessert crepe, very good quality.
Prices range from $5 to $15 for the crepes, so priced for any one to try. We had the lemon and a choc and banana crepe yummy is all I can say.
Went back a second time for a late brunch Sunday. The place was very busy with what looked like a lot of regulars.
The food was delivered promptly as was the excellent coffee.
This time we tried a savory crepe with chicken, spinach and mushrooms, very good and tasty, also came with small side salad. The french toast with banana and bacon was also very good and a good size for the price. The third dish was one of the baguettes with bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado. Very fresh and very tasty. All up $51.00 well spent on the food and coffee for brunch.
Will definitely return next time in Tauranga.

We had my sisters 21st here. I am recommending this place to anyone! the service was amazing. They asked us how we wanted the tables and quickly organised that. The waiter was efficient and really patient. The meals came out in under 30 minutes and there was at least 40 of us! Everyone loved the desserts, it was really top class. and the prices were so affordable. I would go here again. They had crepes from 5 dollars to $20 desserts so everyone could really manage to eat here as the price range caters for every budget. The young Batista was really friendly also! The little boy that helped the owner was super cute and really added a 'family' aspect. Overall the design of the place was flash, the service was fast and the food was extravagant. Best place Ive dined in ages and I'll be defiantly coming back

Great food and wine. Very good service.
Would have rated it much higher if it were not for the arctic temperature inside. Everyone dining with their coats on. And the front door was open the whole time! Must be a French thing but definitely a no go place in winter. Imagine it would be magic in summer.

Le Chat Noir is mainly a lunch cafe specialising in french crepes but on Thur/Fri/Sat nights it opens for dinner. We went early one Thursday evening before going to the theatre. They were not busy at that time (6:00 pm) but did have people at three tables.

In the evening they add two or three specials to their crepe menu. I had Cock au Vin and my partner had a Caesar salad and we were both very satisfied with our choices. We both had desert - creme brule and chocolate mousse. They do wine by the glass at reasonable prices so four glasses of wine rounded of our meal.

Le Chat Noir is fairly new and the decor is a little sparse but the general atmosphere is good. We will definitely go back again. Total cost was $104 and we were very pleased with our choice for the night - better than most of the restaurants down the Strand!

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with friends at Le Chat Noir last night, was truly fabulous. Not only was the meal reasonably priced, the food was amongst the most delicious we have had. Mouth watering! Thank you for great service, a friendly atmosphere, melt-in-your-mouth lamb and chicken, delicious bread and dessert - the lot. We will be recommending it to everyone we know - and we will be back!!

Le Chat Noir is not your average Tauranga cafe by a long way. I have been twice in 2 days and have never written a review before, so it must be pretty good. Great coffee, salads and crepes, I look forward to working my way through the menu. Genuinely friendly staff, what more can I say ? Au revoir Alimento !

Very nice crepes. Even our kids enjoyed them. Friendly staff. Slightly longish waits but I'm sure that will sort itself out sooner or later. Will definitely return :)

Greerton is lucky. Tasty crepes, baked goods (the brownie is the best in NZ and typically sold out) the perfect cuppa coffee, unique drinks and a terrific atmosphere. The staff is a treat as much as the food. The Chef is producing consistently prepared offerings and the menu has something for anyone including vegetarians and gluten free diners.
My children and i had a wonderful meal, great service,i really enjoyed the scotch fillet crepe and the kids loved there orange and raspberry treat.
The coffee was the best ive had in town thank you tash...Look forward to calling in next time were in town.

I would highly recommend this place for absolutely excellent service, wonderful food and great coffee. Its very child friendly even putting up with my fussing daughter who was allowed to create her own crepe. Thanks for keeping our tummies full and satisfied.

I love being able to escape to Le Chat Noir and get some R&R from my busy salon! The food's always great and the moccha unbeatable if Jarrod is working! As 'they' say: "You wanna go where everybody knows your name." There's always friends to greet and new ones make at Le Chat Noir!
Bruce
The coffee, usually brewed and served by Jarrod, is the absolute best in town. And, the ciabatta bread with various fillings is sensational. A nice atmosphere, complimented by the friendly staff, make Le Chat Noir a daily choice for me.

first of all with a positive note i love the cafe it looks so great greerton needs a little class.
my first experience wasnt so great though i thought the guy who served is rude and made me feel uncomfortable when i made a phone order i came in 10 minutes early than i said which wasnt a problem instead of saying hi take a seat be with you sortly he said your early you said 1pm hes attitude was abrupted.
the chief guy on the other hand was polite and cheerful.
sandwich was great bit pricey i thought but hay .
i read the other feed bk and shocked the guy with the bald head isnt the owner he needs to take a customer service course in making the customers happy and to come back
Gary
an awesome alternative to the standard fare on offer in the area, food and coffee were excellent and will certainly return!
Rachelle
I walked up to the counter to order a coffee and the guy with no hair just about bit my head off cause he was so busy coulnt cope with the stress, told me i could go somewhere else as he gona be 5 mins, would of waited but the face he was so rude made me just leave have been back and he is the most unfriendly person myself and other friend have meet, over priced chicken salad $17 chicken lettuce cheese alitlle onion had to look for it nice but not woth that price.Have phoned asking salad prices and he said they are on the blackboard well im on the phone cant see it,he cant deal with people, read the reviews about and cant beleive that its the same guy i hope hes not the owner!!!
Rick
Great crepes. Tried both the sweet (the mascarpone or the vanilla chocolate are to die for) and the savoury (creamy chicken is a favourite of mine) and they're all very nice. Friendly place and helpful staff. The owner is always on deck trying to make sure every one leaves happy. Great place and very nice coffee too. We're now regulars of Le Chat Noir! Can't wait for the liquor license...
