Review Gengy's Mongolian Bbq Buffet - Tauranga

Had an amazing time here with my friends! Not cheap, but for the quality of the ingredients provided + the fact that it's all you can eat, you really can't complain. Everything was clean and well presented, fresh, and an insane amount of variety. Atmosphere was only 3-5 stars because it wasn't some classy, decorated restaurant but you shouldn't be expecting that from a buffet place anyway. Food was 4 stars not 5 because of the deserts (ice cream was melted and jelly was still liquid haha) but the main course Food was pretty great. All in all genuinely enjoyed my experience here, had fun making different combinations and was a life saver for my friend's with different allergies as they could avoid the things they can't have. :)

What an amazing place to dine out with family. So friendly, excellent service, brilliant food and the cooks were amazing to watch. You grab what you want to eat and they fry it up. My family were raving about it. Thanks you so much. Definitely the place to go. 💙

Amazing!!! This place is listed as a Mongolian BBQ and we went for a family dinner, as a vegan I was a little apprehensive, as alot of places don't cater for alternative meals, but I cannot say enough about this place. There is a huge variety of salads, and yummy vege spring rolls, dumplings and french fries. When Andy the chef found out I was vegan he showed me the noodles I could eat and specially cooked my meal away from the meat. To top it off there was a great variety of fruit salads I could have for my dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant, which caters for all as my family loved theirs just as much.

Definitely worth it! Quality food, lovely staff! Make sure you go hungry cause you'll want to try everything!

Probably the best Gengys brunch I've been to. We went here for dinner lastnight (30.10.2022) to celebrate my sister's birthday and the whole experience was great. Very spacious and clean restaurant. The service is fast and food was delicious. The food was well cooked and lots of different options.

A very pleasant night. You have a great choice of meat veges and desserts. The waiters and waitresses were very polite and made sure that your plates were taken away after each meal. The chef's come and check to see if your happy with your meals. Surroundings were very nice as well. I would recommend it.

An all you can eat dining experience. A large range of food to choose for the chefs to cook on the large hot plate. Once the you've finished with the main course, you can get pancakes with a number of delicious toppings. Great service and great chefs.

I asked for a yummy plate of chicken and instead the server brings me a silver platter with at least 15 dead, maggot-ridden rodents on it. It was delicious!!!!!

We all had a great experience, amazing food and service and very affordable for all you can eat. Highly recommend for large groups and functions.

Went to Gengy's for a family reunion. Had a really great time there. Love the fact that you can choose exactly what you want to eat and then watch as they cook your meal while you wait. Great selection of choices of food. Absolutely loved the seafood chowder, and the pancakes with a great selection of toppings. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place was clean, Also liked the fact that it is a family restaurant and you didn't have to get 'dressed up' to go there, Great restaurant, great service and good prices, I highly recommend Gengy's as a great night out.

It was my first time there. The food was great and the waitresses were wonderful in keeping the tables cleared and having a lovely smile. As for my food experience. Well that can only be described as wonderful. You got to choose what you wanted in your food etc and then you got to enjoy the experience of watching it being cooked. I must say that the whole experience was without doubt lovely. I would definitely go back there again and also recommend to others.

Wow wow wow amazing service and food, beautiful mothers Day or birthday place for dinner, yummy. Pat on the back to the cooks. Give them a payrise asap, please. *To the manager, please install brighter lights. Eating dinner in a low lit restaurant is not ideal.

Couldn’t recommend more. This is the fantastic buffet style that you will never find anywhere else in Tauranga. The chef were very attentive to detail and sagar is a great cook.

I have been here 3 times and the food is amazing if you know what sauces and oils to mix together for great tasting meals. I have no idea and am limited as to what I will choose. Other than that the staff are friendly and service is good 😊

Great food!!!  Great everything BUT ...............<br/><br/> Spoilt by unruly kids running around the restaurant, uncontrolled by their parents.<br/>Management need to have a word to the parents!  Not a good atmosphere for those wanting a nice quiet night out.

It is similar to the branches in Auckland. You choose your own ingredients and sauces and the cooks will stirfry it for you. The difficulty is getting the seasoning and salt levels right. Always go easy on the salt. Can always add more in. Most end up in a mess but a great novelty activity for younger children. The dessert is pancakes and they are tasty - shame the ice cream used is very cheap tasting. Venue is clean and there is also a buffet area with an array of salads and fried goods.

Good Customer Service!! Did have to keep going up to get drinks this was not a problem. Didn't like the meat - I don't like chewy meat. So ended up having a vegetarian dish this was satisfying! Pancakes and ice cream yummy - I like the simplicity of this dessert and it wasnt too sweet. The soup tastes like packet soup mixed with water and flour to thicken it. Croutons ok. Fruit was nice. The rice was a bit hard and tasted like it had been sitting in the cooker for a while before being put into the bain marie. One thing I don't like when dining out is when the service staff take your plate e.g.. you walk away for a sec to come back and your plate is gone. I do find this very rude!! Taking our plates when we hadnt finished our meal, is the one let down for me other than that the service staff were good. Price was ok, Thank you 😊🍨🥞🍚🥗🍊🍎🍇 I only just realised my son was charged as an adult! Shit!!!! <br/>

Had a lovely dinner here with the family, we usually go to another buffet but tried this one for a change, a little bit of confusion over the birthday special- we had a birthday in our group 7 days away, was confirmed on the phone that this would be ok and when we got there our waitress said it wasn't, however she made an exception and apologised for the misunderstanding :) The rest of the meal was fantastic, lots of variety, food was cooked quickly, pancakes were awesome, great atmosphere and fantastic service with a smile will definitely be back next time!

This restaurant was the best Ghengys I have ever been to I've been to a few in Auckland and was not impressed but I was blown away the service was fantastic the food was fresh and plentiful always topped up. A great atmosphere clean and we'll organised and the staff were continuously clearing plates organising drinks and welcoming guests I highly recommend this restaurant and will be going back there for sure!

Enjoyed going out to this place where our birthday girl got her meal for $1. Very friendly, accommodating staff. The great selection of food is fantastic especially being able to make combinations of your choice.

Went with a table of 5 adults and two kids. Great selection of all foods especially meats!!! Couldn't believe the selection of everything. The staff were super lovely and very accommodating with the kids and made them special mickey mouse pancakes for dessert. Everything was extremely fresh... Was a little hesitant about the seafood.... But it was delish. Loved everything about this place. Service is also everything!!!! Will definitely be back!!!!

Yummm, I await the next time I go to Gengy's.<br/>I was amazed at how big the place was and so busy! With that being said the service was quick to clear any plates and cook your food. The staff were friendly and polite.<br/>The food selection was great and always being restocked. The chicken nibbles were the best ever. <br/>I felt like I ate my $$ worth

So good! The food selection is amazing and the staff are super friendly. It's a little pricey though but considering it's all you can eat you can get value for you money if you can squeeze it in

Great food, selection, and staff, reasonably priced as it is all you can eat there is definitely value for money! I have been here multiple times for a work do, family dinner and a friends birthday so it is always an experience for all ages

Dinner for four adults April 2013.<br/><br/>Discount price of $25.00 each.<br/><br/>Great selection to create your own stir fry (and thats exactly what it is - stir fry dinner) , but average location and very limited desert choice.<br/><br/>Full price adult dinner is $29.95 so for me, I'm not sure its good value for money.<br/><br/>Waitstaff didn't check to see if we wanted drinks etc, so they could have made another $100.
