Review The Coffee Club - Tauranga

Erana Funaki
There is a sign when you walk in saying that it's full table service and to take a seat. We took seats and were not served - had to go up to the counter to order after being rudely pointed away from the counter facing the dining area. Not sure if it was because it was later on a Saturday or if this is the norm, but it is confusing. Service overall a bit lacklustre and quite slow. Nice atmosphere on a lovely sunny day with a cool breeze rolling through the open doors. Food (chicken tacos, BLT) and coffee (latte, mocha frappe) were delicious as expected. Don't usually come here because it's quite pricey but enjoyed it for this visit.

Really good service. Walk in sit down someone comes to you with water and says they be back to take order. They have quick friendly service always smiling. Food is delicious.

Visited the coffee club for a lunch. Table service was fast and efficient. Lovely recommendations from the staff about what to eat. The shrimp tacos were absolutely delicious and were served very quickly even though it was busy. Nice atmosphere.

I recently visited this cafe and the overall experience was okay. The cafe had a decent range of food options but I truly hope that the cafe brings the seafood pasta back on their regular menu, as it was the star of the show.

To much to choose from. Great to be open on a long weekend. Partner was able to get a All day big breakfast at 3pm. When most kitchens are closed. I enjoyed my Benny. Fresh a tasty.

Popped in for a cuppa tea, the cafe is big and also very cosy with nice carpet and wood panelling floors, plenty of lighting, very helpful staff. There were a lot of people enjoying business meetings, which were unobtrusive because there is good spacing between the tables. The premises are easily negotiated for mobility impaired people and there is a large amount of parking available. There was a selection of savoury and sweet foods, I tried the date scone which to my surprise was lovely and light, moist with plenty of dates! There is plenty of outside seating too.

we came at around 10 am on a weekday, to have some morning tea, ordered the chocolate frappe, shrimp tacos, chicken tacos, curly fries, mango smoothie, and onion rings, reasonably large portions, although I did think it was a bit pricey for what it was. The chips were very messily seasoned not evenly contributed, the onion rings were under seasoned, mango smoothie was delicious, I don’t personally like their chipotle sauce as it was just sweet chilli mixed with Mayo. It’s fine though. small things that could be changed in order to make a more satisfying cuisine, but overall pretty good. Food came fast. Kind service.

The Coffee Club Bethlehem is my favorite coffee place in town. I absolutely love expanding my Sunday' mornings there. Thank you for such a vibe.

Stopped for lunch, service was bit slow as lunchtime rush had staff busy so a little wait to order. Chicken Ceasar salad was very good and iced chocolate not too sweet and good portion. Coffee Club always consistent quality

My black coffee was weak as... They said this was 'their standard'. Food heavy unappetising lumps.
Rotorua Coffee Club is the same. When I sent them 'feedback' they offered me a free coffee!! As if I'd ever want to go back there...

Took my brothers for a Big Breakfast & wontons on Easter Friday.
Pleasantly surprised how quickly we were served & our meal delivered.
We received tasty, good sized portions. Nice presentation.
We followed up the meal with a delicious, creamy, thick shake.

Friendly staff & atmosphere. Free WiFi nice touch.

Highly recommend.

Went for lunch today - Sunday... about 75% full.... Wait was so long.... very good Duty Manager who apologised and offered complimentary drink - we declined with thanks.... meals x2 finally arrived... both fish 1 cajun a1 battered... cajun at $28 I expected it to be good.... it was just plain awful... fish not what you would expect... limp as was the chips...salad.. lots of cucumber thick slices!! lemon as thou it was heated for an age - no juice and whole meals just very much not good enough... when asked on paying - which I will say we got a 10% discount because of the long delay... how was the meal! I replied out of 10 I found it hard to give it a 5. Not a cheap lunch.... and really disappointing... sorry Coffee Club you need to lift your game... also coffee... not great.

The hot chocolates are very nice but the marshmallows taste better separate on the side.

Unfortunately I can’t say the same about the muffin I had & the cheesecake my carer had. Her cheesecake was completely tasteless and had globs of gelatine in it. I'm not sure whether my berry muffin was gluten free or something but it had a weird fake taste and I didn't want to eat the rest.

Definitely my favorite cafe in town. I am a Tauranga resident and am a regular and VIP member at the Coffee Club. Great staff and great coffee!
At our tertiary institute we often joke that the coffee club is kept in business by the lecturers and students from our uni, and while that may be an exaggeration, it is highly likely to see at least one person that I know from there whenever we go!
Big fans,
Thanks guys

Was disgusted at the food. I ordered a chicken burger, it had no dressing, red onion, lettuce, normal cheese (not the one specified) and tomato. The chicken had absolutely no flavour!!! Waste of over $16!!!!!! I could have made nicer at home.

The staff were pleasant and the coffee was nice, tho a tad over priced compared to other cafes in the area.

We will NEVER BE GOING BACK. Wish I had never walked in the door.

I visit the Coffee Club almost every day, always for a cappuccino with cinnamon and sometimes for breakfast or just a yummy savoury scone - all cheaper on three days of the week if you're a member. It's a very relaxing place to do some work, especially if you can get one of the couches. The staff are very friendly and helpful. When I have had other meals I have always found them to be exactly what I wanted. Great! I'm a Coffee Club supporter!

In reply to the response already here about the food not always being as described in the menu.
I visited the Bethlehem coffee club today and ordered a pumpkin, spinach, ricotta and pinenut cannelloni. When I received my food the cannelloni had none of these ingredients. And instead contained chicken and sun dried tomatoes. (just as well I’m not a vegetarian). I was very annoyed.

Coffee was nice though.

Lovely staff
nice place
No Air con
vanilla coffee pretty bad
Food OK but no actually the way it is described on the menu.
All in all not really worth the visit
Rosco
