We enjoyed lovely service and food, my seafood pasta was delicious. The helpful lady at the restaurant understood we didnt have much time, she managed to bring the food fast for us and packed the food when we needed to go, really appreciate her care and effort.

This is a very nice Italian restaurant with a good selection of dishes. The atmosphere is very cozy and it's really conducive to a nice quiet conversation. The staff/owners are very gentle and obliging. We had the pasta dishes but next time definitely planning to have the delicious looking pizza next time! 😁

Best Pizza south of Italy! The price may be up there but you get the best Pizza you will ever taste! Traditional base sauce and freshly cut herbs. We have been getting pizza from here for many many years and no other place we have been to anywhere has come close. :)

Beautiful italian restraunt with italian music to top it. The steak I order was cooked perfectly to MR and the house wine paired well. The only downside is that is very small, yet it was perfect for me as I went as an individual. I highly reccomend their house-made gelato!

We read the reviews, took a look and went in. The pasta was excellent, the last mouthful was as good as the first. Superb gnocchi, great lasagne, you could actually taste the ingredients. We will return

Bella Mia is a cozy family restaurant in the best traditions of Italian cuisine. Giuseppe and Karen are the most friendly hosts. It’s a place you want to return time and time again. Highly recommend it!

A lovely little place with a great atmosphere. The pizza was lovely. Nice and cozy but still with enough room for a table of 12. I'll be back!

I ordered a traditional Italian pizza and it was pretty tasty. I often walk around this place and the smell is amazing!

It feels like you are in Italy. Pizza was absolutely my style. Friendly and welcoming. We are going back to our little Italy.

Very authentic Italian food if you are prepared to wait. We waited 45 mins for a pasta marinara and pizza.

Very quiet, beautiful interior. Pizza topping was fresh. Ordered 2 family size pizzas, one pasta, and drinks. Pasta portion was bit small as u can see. I like the atmosphere :) i would love to try gelato next time

Wow just popped in for dinner as was right next to our hotel. Was an absolute delight. The pizza bread to start was delicious. My hubby had the lasagna and myself the tortellini. Couldn’t fault. To finish the tiramisu and sorbet and gelato. All made in house. The service brilliant. Want to go back and try more dishes on the menu.

We tried this charming Italian bistro on a weekend visit to Tauranga. It was a quiet night generally but a few of the tables in the small-ish dining area were occupied, and a few takeaway orders were collected too. The decor is replica Italian courtyard, complete with Italian music, and even a few Ferrari mementos. The menu is traditional and authentic - we tried a hearty tomato-based pasta dish, and a capriciosa pizza that includes egg so it's almost quiche-like (may sound odd but it works well). Washed down with a house red and prosecco, we enjoyed everything and all at a reasonable price. We just wished we'd had room for dessert especially the tiramisu which sounds delicious. Service is efficient when it's busy; later on when it was less busy the husband and wife owners were very friendly, offering tips on local attractions to check out. We can see why they've been in business for many years and are clearly well patronised :-)

We came upon this little restaurant by chance as we felt like italian cuisine. The ambience was quaint enough, alarm bells should have rung when asked if we were going to a movie! We didn't encounter great customer service, basically ignored by the young waitress when she walked passed our table and waited a long time for our food. My husbands' pizza was average, my pasta dish had obviously been prepared earlier and warmed up in the microwave - bubbles on my tomato-based sauce, great pool of water at the bottom of my dish. Never asked how we were doing or if we wanted more drinks. We high-tailed out of there after we paid extraordinary prices for a basic meal I could have prepared at home. Increase your customer service skills and get more staff in to help

Setting is very authentic italian and the location is great. This is somewhere we always stop by when we pass through Tauranga. We always get the same Pizza and it's stayed quite consistent except one time it was a little over cooked. It's pricey and you'll have to wait but I feel like it's worth it. I just wish the owners were more friendly, such potential..

Good wholesome meals, great service and hospitality. We had entree sized meal as we were off to the movies. Recommend if you want a nice homemade Italian food.

Still great food pasta/ pizza. Service with a smile from Mr Pizza man would make the atmosphere a little more friendly but maybe Italians are intense characters.
Food 4/5
Service 2.5/5 (when leaving)

Fantastic restaurant, lovely quaint atmosphere and wonderful food. It's not a restaurant to go to if your in a hurry, it's a take your time kind of place as it's a husband and wife team and they run the whole show together. It's a favorite that we go back to time and time again and it never disappoints.

I first came to this restaurant late after the door was locked, but the restaurateur was still finishing up and was kind enough to open the door for me and let me buy a take away that I took back to my hotel room, it was really nice of him and it tasted yummy. He and his wife was very friendly indeed and were also giving me great advice on what I could do and see whilst in Tauranga and I really appreciated that. The next day I went back there again and had my dinner inside the cosy restaurant which has a real Italian ambience. The service was so friendly. I could tell the meal was cooked by order and the tiramisu dessert was homemade and very delicious. I have been to Italy and I could tell the meal was Italian style food. Will definitely recommend this gem of a place!

Have been coming here for twenty years, and still love it.

A family business, with authentic Italian food, small and intimate environment.

We are regulars who come to relax, not rush and feel as though we are part of the Belle Mia family.

Despite another reviewer comment, my favourite is the tortellini - I love it's simplicity and flavour, yum! Each to their own I guess!

I enjoy going to this restaurant for the atmosphere, and I always enjoy the pasta and pizza bread, and pizzas, however was very disappointed with my side salad on our last visit - $7 for a couple of lettuce leaves, 2 olives and little bit of tomato. It was tiny, and not fresh - a bit of wilted lettuce was hanging over the side of the bowl. iI wish I had complained at the time. The prices are too high for the size of the meals. Please improve your salad and we will be back!

Fantastic friendly service with a very disappointing meal. Overall, the meals did not reflect the high price charged. One large Pizza, one Tortellini main (no substance, mostly cheese sauce and under heated), two entrees and a bottle of red for $140+. For the money, I would not recommend to others or return ourselves,

Quaint, dinky, kinda romantic, Kiwi-Italian family restaurant.

Friendly service but extremely slow - not recommended if you're on a schedule or really hungry. Valentines Day was extremely slow for us! Waited over an hour for our mains and missed half our movie. Food was ok, quite nice, but nothing to rave about..

Nice for a medium priced night out on a slow bottle of wine with the missus

Not impressed. Took so long to get our food and then got bread with the main meal. Garlic bread was very hard and the pasta was nothing special at all. Very disappointing for twenty dollars. They didnt even ask how our meal was?

Authentic Italian cuisine is something I enjoy and the smells emanating out of this restaurant re-enforced my cravings for this type of food. I was however really disappointed with the food and service at this restaurant. The setting is nice and cosy yet the food is overpriced and of a poor quality. I did expect the calzone pizza to be a folded over, a sort of stuffed pizza (something I normally associate with a "calzone") yet I received a small normal flat pizza with finely chopped onions, some cheese and little of anything else.. All for $20.00 and $3.90 for a can of coke.

got a takaway pizza and was told it would be a half an hour wait. The cook did not even start making the pizza until 45 minutes later. No appoliges or nothing. Pizza was very tastless and basic for a $30 pizza Rip Off. Will not be back

My cousin and I wanted to have lunch somewhere different so we walked past the Italian restaurant and thought what a coincidence as we have never been there before.. We were welcomed warmly..its a very small restaurant but it feels very Italian and cosy..after taking our order we were surprised we were the only ones there. What was disappointing was the order took forever but as soon as the pizzas arrived boy they were delicious..the best pizzas we have ever had..would definitely go back worth the wait I tell ya..

We really enjoyed our meal at Bella Mia. It is a small family run Italian that doesn't pretend to be anything its not, but has a pleasant "Italian" atmosphere and good food. If you want straight forward Italian food with personal service then you can't go wrong here. Bring your own wine, sit back and enjoy yourself.

I have not dined here, but merely bought a gelato with a friend as we walked by. Not a massive choice, but it's great how it's all homemade and natural. I got Pear gelato - yes it may seem strange- but it tasted absolutely delicious! I have never had better ice cream than that.
Nothing really to criticise, apart from the restaurant looks quite small and dark.. However I haven't really been in there. Overall great little place and the best gelato I've tasted.
