Beautiful restaurant, gorgeous food, perfect margaritas!! We had the place to ourselves due to bad weather and Tuesday night. We all tried something we had never had and wasn't disappointed. You feel the love put into the food. Dessert was amazing too. You have to visit this place!! You won't regret it. Hardly any wait time for food or drinks and staff super friendly. Thank you for having us!!!!

Visited last wk on Friday night, there was a group of about 10 of us & we ordered a few platters & dishes to share. Service was great, food was reasonably priced & we all had a great time. Only down side was it was quite cold even though we were sitting inside. Would def come again though.

Highly recommend. Amazing generously portioned kai, great prices and amazing chef!! The waitress is very friendly but needs to learn a bit more professionalism and get familiar with the menu as she was unable to help with any of our queries about the food. She also made a mistake with our order which they kindly gave us for free. I'm assuming she is new so I'm sure she will be great once she gains some experience.

The food was delicious and the restuarant owner and chef made is feel welcome and made sure we were well loomed after. The best Mexican dishes I've ever had.

Great food and great service. Ordered the beef burrito, ribs and chicken wings, everything was tasty and the drinks they made were good too (lemon lime and bitters and raspberry lemonade. They were cleaning the toilets when we arrived so it was pretty spotless in there. Only downside was it didn’t seem very busy but that’s not the restaurants fault because everything I experienced was great.

In the heart of a thriving culinary kaleidoscope, there lies an uncharted treasure known as this delectable Mexican establishment. A realm that conjures not just flavors, but a symphony of gastronomic adventures, enchanting those lucky enough to stumble upon it. A clandestine sanctuary, so-to-speak, undisturbed by the hustling crowd, unmarred by the commonplace clamor, a true hidden gem in the urban culinary fabric. The pizzas here are not mere compositions of bread, cheese, and sauce, but masterpieces intricately designed by the virtuosic hands of seasoned craftsmen. It is a tour de force of an extravaganza that spans from the rich cornucopia of Mexico's bountiful lands, captured under a layer of inviting, molten cheese, and brilliantly concocted sauce. Each bite is a promenade through the vibrant streets of Mexico, with flavors as captivating as the country's rich heritage and stunning landscapes. And the deals, oh the deals! They are generous offerings, blessings bestowed upon the fortunate patrons by the gracious hosts. Imagine a gilded cornucopia brimming with the most exquisite food, and yet, one that does not demand the emptying of pockets. It is a testament to the authentic Mexican generosity, a testament that resonates with each peso spent, ensuring every customer not only leaves with a full belly but a spirit glowing with satisfaction. But, despite its culinary wizardry and customer-friendly deals, the restaurant remains blissfully serene. A kind of solitude reigns here that only heightens the sensory experiences, allowing each visitor to focus on the flavorful journey without the cacophony of a bustling crowd. It is a tranquil oasis amidst the chaos of the city, a place where you can not only savor a great meal but also enjoy the rare luxury of quietude. In conclusion, this Mexican restaurant stands as a beacon of gastronomic excellence, an unsung hero amidst culinary titans. So, for those who dare to venture off the beaten path, a fantastic pizza experience awaits you, wrapped in enchanting solitude and attractive deals. The secret might be out, but the enchantment of this hidden gem remains unscathed, promising a memorable culinary voyage with every visit.

What a great place for pizza! I will definitely be coming back. Best price and service. Top tier. Only negative was lack of vegetarian options.

We were a party of four on a blustery Sunday evening on holiday in Tauranga and La Mexica caught our eye, looking like an authentic, run-down little cantina in Distrito Federal in Mexico. What it lacked in freshness it made up for in a generous menu and Coronas. The music segwayed seamlessly from Mexican soft rock and ballads to Indian romance, but really, the food was the star of the night. Generous portions and sizzling plates of goodness. We would go back, particularly if there were a few more of us to fill the place up a bit more.

Came here for lunch today, the food was great inside my mouth! I would rate it a 10/10 if Google gave me the option but definitely 5 stars from me. The food was even so cheap and large portions that meant I could takeaway the delicious feast! Thank you so much La Mexica Cantina!

I went to La Mexica looking for something different at night and it turns out that on Thursday night they have free bachata classes. I met lot of people, I have a great time and I found all the fun I was looking for. It was such a great night. I recommend this place if you are new in Tauranga and have no plans at night, this one is a gooood one. Next time I'll probably go early to enjoy the food.

A couple of weeks ago, was looking for an Indian restaurant and got there accidentally. But it was a great experience. Have to say that the staff there are so friendly and helpful. I am not a great fan of Mexican food. But that day, I started loving it. The staff are so hardworking. I like the ambience too. Would definitely recommend La Mexica- something you must try.

One of the best restaurants in tauranga.
Ambience is perfect with stunning views of the sea.
The staff were checking on us every few minutes, food were up fast. Everything is tasty. I recommend the ribs and the combination fajitas.

An okay dining experience. Tables were sticky and everyone in our group found the food to be very salty. Portions are big which is a plus. The chilli mince nachos tasted like mince with a packet of 99c maggi seasoning mixed in - nothing fancy. Not a fan of the chips used. The fajitas were okay, the accompanying fajita stuffers were average - quite bland and simple. An okay spot if you happen to pass by but not the best Mexican in Tauranga, nor is it a place you would go out of your way to try.

First time having lunch here. Must say that i was surprised with the food. It was really good and, as always (because I've bees there at night), really good attention

Dire.
Service was very slow and somewhat chaotic, we were asked several times if we wished to order having already done so.
I was hungry and ordered their large, expensive burger.
Unfortunately it was delivered to my plate cooked outside but completely raw inside, totally inedible.
The manager on duty was very apologetic and didn't charge me for my dish, not that I would have paid anyway. He explained that the chef was Russian, as if that were some reason for serving an uncooked dish.
I would certainly never go there again or recommend the place to anyone.

Pretty good experience.

Food was good and tasty. The place had a great vibe. Service was good. If anything, the service was too good. I was asked 4 times if my meal was good.

The steak was really good.

The portions were pretty big.

Will definately go back.

Great customer service. We ordered calamari and chimichanga for entrees - calamari seasoning/coating was fairly average, chimichanga was delicous. Hubby ordered a mexican chicken burger - needed relish and became messy lol. I ordered chicken quessadillas and they were yummy didnt like the salad though tasted more like onions. We'd come back here but would probably order mains only as the portions are quite generous. For dessert we had the chilli chocolate cake with avocado ice cream and postachio - ice cream was refreshing, didnt really taste the postachio through it. The chilli chocolate cake was really rich, slight taste of chilli through out. Wouldnt order the cake again though wasnt to my liking. Our fizzy came out in a little jar thought that was quite cool and they were playing nz music!! #herbs

And to the girl waiter who served us this is the name of the mexican cola we were telling you about - Jarritos 😊

Thanks guys!!

Friendly staff with a great laid back atmosphere. Possible the best Chicken burger I've ever had and the thin crispy chips were amazing. I want nachos in all my burgers forever more!

Had a great time last night at La Mexica for the salsa
night! We came in for dinner and were not disappointed! I had the mixed grill
fajitas which were out of this world and way too much food for me, I had to
take some home! Really good atmosphere and nice staff. We will be back!

Very average food very bland had very little flavour, over cooked meat waitress didn't write down order and forgot a starter would of been better off to go to Pizza Hut or bk , would not go back and would not recommend to anyone .

Nice décor. Good service. Food was below average. We had the chicken Plato de fajitas-didn't feel it had the genuine Mexican taste to it. The hot plate was like a spicy stir fry and there was minimal chicken and not enough tortilla's. They were tiny. Wouldn't come back again.
