Review Hawker & Roll - Tauranga

1st time here today & loved it. Atmosphere was great, customer service was good, love the handwashing station & separate drinks station where you can help yourself to water. Had lots of staff on which was good too as it was busy! Kitchen from what we could see was so clean & tidy. Uniform was not bad either, quite liked the denim shirt look, it suited all the staff. Love the design of the place & the big long tables, encourages people to sit together whilst still allowing enough space between each other. Nice job guys👌. Oh & the food... Dumplings were perfect & the pulled pork & duck with hoison sauce hawker rolls were delish!!! Totes recommend this place 💯

Had never heard of this franchise but judging from the menu and smell we were enticed. So we gave it a punt and came out smiling. Little on the expensive side, considering, but the chef cooked everything fresh and to order. So happy to spend the extra $. Taste was wonderful and fresh. Will definitely dine here again, as a treat.

The donuts came out at the end even though we asked them to come out first with mains. This is the second time its happened. A little disappointing. Gavi, Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it. All the food is delicious it was just timing on the day. I've been back again and thanks so much for getting my donuts out with mains. Another brilliant meal. Your lady that cooked on the day was amazing. Watched her in action and shes efficient and can multi task. An asset to your team. It was a steady lunch time. Thanks so much.

Hawker Style Noodle Salad described as: Noodle salad tossed with green beans, fresh herbs, peanuts chilli & lime chilli dressing. Absolutely delicious meal. Mine came with raw florets of cauliflower, spring onions, carrot and fresh bean sprouts instead of green beans. Huge serving, plenty to eat later on. My venue of choice to sate my craving for Malaysian tucker!!

Food was absolutely delicious. Full of flavour and really nice and fresh. Unfortunately our online order wasn't processed as expected, but the staff were really nice and very apologetic about the oversight. Would go there again.

Lovely food worth the wait, if only service would be faster... but good food takes time. Don't be in a hurry dining here, we went at lunch time on a Sunday, there were free tables and it didn't look that busy but we still waited nearly 30 mins for our meals. Yum & authentic, lots of 'liao' in their basic nasi lemak, loads of crunchy ikan billis & peanuts, good sambal.

Love Hawker & Roll, one of my favourite little places to eat out, always so tasty and friendly! I stuffed up an order last time and they sorted it out very fast and without stress so thank you. See you again

Hawker rolls (beef rendang and pulled sticky pork) were excellent. Roti canai was crisp and fluffy. Filling fresh and meats tasty. Top knotch. But spicy pork dumplings were unacceptable. Kitchen quality control should not have let them out of the kitchen. Flavour good but not properly steamed and very dry and hard on the top. If we dined in they would be replace or refund standard. Disappointing . Should not happen

Malaysian restaurant inside Tauranga crossing which is awesome. Nasi lemak (traditional Malaysian food) and hawker rolls are awesome. Plenty of vegetarian options are also available. Quality is good with affordable prices. If you ever want to try Malaysian food. Definitely worth trying it. Take away is also available. Use mall parking spaces. Sit and relax. You will love it definitely.

Tried the Nasi Lemak and was impressed considering this is Tauranga. It’s a simple dish but easy to mess up, but I think the kitchen has it right here. Loved the sambal. (Believe me, I grew up in three of the four countries that fight over who invented Nasi Lemak) However, I think a little more staff training needs to be done to understand the dishes’ names since most staff aren’t Asian—we had a little order misunderstanding today due to this (ordered fried chicken Nasi Lemak but only got fried chicken). My only other feedback is that the plate is literally too small. Portion size is fine but the plate feels crowded to eat from. It’s cute for Instagram but a little annoying IRL!

Food is amazing, honestly delicious. It's just very expensive, I'd go more often if I was rich.
