Review English Dhaba - Tawa

Enjoyed having dinner at English Dhaba last night. We ordered, Prawn biryani, chicken saagwala and garlic naan. I enjoyed the biryani. The prawns were cooked to perfection. It was not the South Indian biryani that I am used to, but still was full of flavour and quiet satisfying. I have to mention, the portion size of the biryani was almost double of what we get in other places. Saagwala was different to the ones we usually get. It almost was close to a homemade dish. I was very pleased with the food and service. I am definitely going back to try more dishes.

The best curry in Wellington at a reasonable price! This is dinner and lunch for the next day. English Dhaba is my regular, and I've never had a bad experience. Ask for the house special it's delicious.

Definitely best takeaway joint in Tawa. I love the palak paneer and the tandoori chicken is always a hit. We keep coming back here weekly, the food is super quick and consistently tasty, highly recommend.

I felt like a nice curry and was visiting the Bilton & Wors shop in Lindon, Tawa. The owner recommended English Dhaba Restaurant conveniently situated right opposite his biltong shop. I went over and had the most tastiest lamb curry . Thank you owners of English Dhaba for a memorable meal. Loved it 😋

We usually go to the Hutt Valley for indian however we decided to try local. Excellent food we especially like the saag paneer. Kids love butter chicken we find it too sweet. Only thing I really can’t recommend is the biryanis as it was a fail. The remainder is excellent and we will be regular customers. I would advise order spicier then you’d like as this place is more on the mild.

Main business seems to be takeaways but four of us ate in on last Sunday. The interior is rather dark but the service is good and the welcome is warm. Tried five dishes. Four were just superb. One of our party declared the paneer the best he has ever tasted (and he sure knows his paneer). Wonderful food. Great night out.

Really delicious butter chicken, huge serving size for the onion bhaji. The garlic/cheese naan and aloo paratha were also delicious. Very quick and pleasant service too.

Decent curry! The Korma sauce is amazing. The extra hot spice level is the same as hot. Staff members sitting by the window staring down potential customers is a bad idea btw. Regularly see this happening around 6pm during the week 🤣

English Dhaba is my "go to" for curry. Although it looks unassuming from the outside with what appears to be a lack of diners, this restaurant has a steady stream of customers collecting takeaways. The female is always welcoming and super attentive when dining in. And always ensures we have a great dining experience. They have lunch specials of curry, rice and plain naan. Overall their food is delicious, the prices are value for money, the portion sizes and very good and I highly recommend dining here.

Best Indian restaurant/takeaway around. Love there Butter chicken, tastes rich and creamy, not like others around that taste like tomato soup. Service is great for eating in but they are cool with ringing in for takeaways.

Best Butter Chicken I have ever had. We eat at the restaurant occasionally and it is always fabulous service and food.<br/>I often get take-aways and it is always beautiful with prompt and friendly service.

I have had two delicious take away meals from here and both have been very satisfying and authentic Indian deliciousness! We had butter chicken, garlic and cheese Nan, samosas and tandoori. All were packed with yummy spices and flavor! I highly recommend the butter chicken and garlic and cheesey Nan!

This is Our curry house by far. We moved back to Tawa from the uk... fast, fresh and happy when we call by for dinner. All different levels of spices to suit everyone. I Highly recommend.

I ordered mushroom sabji 2 plain naan and 1 lacha parantha.. They dont serve only mushroom sabji as its not in their menu, they have matar mushroom which they agreed to give me without matar after charging a dollar extra.. Well it was ok with me until the sabji comes out nice.<br/>My husband tookaway the order to home, mushroom sabji was yum yum yum as i wanted but the naans werent good at all..<br/>Chef needs to do an extra hard work for naans to bring the true taste..<br/>I would like to try their other curries...

Have only had takeaways from here but the food has always been outstanding!  Order has always been ready in 15 minutes and it doesn't matter how big the order is!  Great food and service, thanks

Less than a year ago i ate here and it was divine, the service was awesome and the food was impeccable,  Has the business changed hands? i bought there on Tuesday night,  There was a hair inside my naan bread and the salad had what looked like curry powder sprinkled over it so made it look old (because of the colour) It was fresh but because of the choice of dressing, i couldn't eat it as it looked stale. <br/><br/>The Murg Mumtag (boneless chicken cooked with cocktail fruit and creamy sauce) was the meal i got,  It was nice but tasted watered down compared to last time i got this, the sauce was not thick like last time and it didn't taste as tangy, something was missing?<br/><br/>I got a starter too Malai Tikka,  Can't fault that, was very nice, wish i had of just ordered 2 of these instead of my main. it would have been much cheaper.  i spent around $40.00 and was only happy with the starter and the lassie we got, not great value for $40.  <br/><br/>I did enjoy the Mango Lassie too <br/><br/>I regret coming back here as they seem to have lost their passion for great food, a bit of a disappointment really as they used to be the best indian restaurant in Tawa.  I'm not sure if i would return.

Very tasty food, butter chicken rated as best my daughter has ever had. Surprisingly thick sauce with Tikka Masala with very tender chicken inside. Quick service, generous portions and good pricing make this another great Asian restaurant in the Tawa area.

Loved the starter mixed platters and the service was good too.<br/>The only thing that let the place down was the vegetable balti was made with frozen veg that were only just cooked. However, we will be back as we had a great evening in an out of the way location.
