Review Yum Yum House - Tawa

Celebrated my partners birthday with a reservation for 15. Had a slightly longer wait for the food but that was due to the restaurant being busy as well as our tables large order. Great tasting food. Great time had by all. Portion sizes were big so ended taking a few containers home. Definitely value for money!

Beautiful wee place with amazing food. Was our local for many years but we moved out of town. After 8yrs...just as wonderful. Friendly, polite staff and gorgeous food. Brought back good memories. Thank you team for the amazing evening.

The best Chinese food!! Spicy squid was delicious!! I also really enjoyed the Sichuan chicken. All food is very well priced! Would recommend, will definitely be back many times in future!

After a slow start with being greeted and orders and follow up, the good was really nice, presented well, and very tasty, would definitely go again

very kind and helpful service! All the food we had was good, clean feeling and had a lot of veges added in. Would recommend the spicy squid and the sweet and sour pork. Honestly could not go wrong with what ever you picked. Will be coming back soon!

Second time going to this little place, it’s not what you would expect when looking at it from the outside. Great service and the food was really very good. Reasonably priced as well, I would definitely go back.

Been there many times. Serves typical Chinese food. Small restaurant seats approx 40 persons. Prices very reasonable. Quality good. Parking freely available usually.

Discovered this little gem by accident a few weeks ago. Food is delicious. Portions look small but are very generous. We ALWAYS end up taking the rest home. Prices are reasonable. Easily recommend this restaurant.

My family and I dine here often, at least once a week. I have pretty much tried the whole menu and have not been disappointed. Yum Yum house is definately Tawas best eatery. My family and friends from overseas always dine here when they visit. It's quaint and friendly. Prices are very good. Have never had a bad meal. Definately recommend this place.

Can get a couple of dishes for a really good price. Setting is nice and comfortable, just needs a change in decor. Servers were friendly but didnt know much about the dishes (menu). No chopsticks on the table soo had to ask for one. Chicken and corn soup's tasty. Not authentic Chinese food though.

Told me to pick up in 10 minutes. Order took nearly 40 minutes to complete. Female running the show said sorry a briskly pissed off when confronted. There are only 3 of the 10 tables with customers so not like they are busy.

Eaten in and now our regular takeaway for Chinese really nice good value meals. A bit of a shabby feel for eating in, my advice would be to not take anyone you want to impress but is great for a mid week meal or a low stress no dishes night out. Will keep coming

Ate lunch here with my family. Very yummy food and filling. I liked that we were the only ones in the restaurant. The prices are reasonable as well. Will def come back and eat 👍👍👍👍👍

We have visited many times but about a year ago there were service problems, and then the BYO licence was cancelled. We were disappointed with the unlicensed version when we tried it, poor service and uneven food quality.
Last week my wife and I returned, and what a difference!
Very pleasant service from the young waiter, and a very good menu. This restaurant has all the usual Chinese dishes like Stir Fry, sweet & sour, sizzling plates, etc, plus starters like won tons and spring rolls. From past visits we know that they do these meals to a high standard.
This time we tried a delicious garlic squid entree, wonton soup which came in a tasty stock with good dumplings, followed with crispy Skin Chicken with 5 spice and a great Beef with Ginger and Vegetables stir fry. This had slices of ginger and a nice range of lightly cooked vegetables.
The cost for the meal for two was about $50 including BYO corkage.
Great to have this restaurant back and working well!

Dined in on a Friday evening.the setting seemed warm and homely, I enjoyed the comfy chairs. large number of dishes available.

However this is not a Chinese restaurant. They have a drinks menu with cocktails and the menu seems confused - ie serving different themes of dishes like western/Indian/Chinese and not in a cool fusion type of way.
Tea is served from tea bags and in coffee cups.
There aren't any chopsticks on the table and I couldn't get any hot chilli sauce/oil - when i asked for chili sauce i got more sweet chili sauce like material.

Food is rather bland, and the service was clumsy and terrible. The two waitresses seemed to be young high school students who even said they were new. They forgot orders, and cleared the table awkwardly.
Chicken was over cooked, and some items that had been fried had that greasy feel of old oil at too low a temperature.
Price was a little expensive for a suburban restaurant for the quality of the service and the dishes served.
Sorry but won't be back.

Visited on a while based on a web search. The menu is extensive as can be seen from the images. We ordered pork stir fried with ginger sauce, seafood tofu hotpot and sizzling steak with black bean sauce.

The meal came with complimentary rice.

A free starter of fried shrimp chips was served first. While they were tasty they were a bit oily.

Portions were large but the dishes were over salted. A bit less salt and they meal would have been excellent.

Cost was reasonable being $51 for the three dishes.

Food was good - we had roti chanai, dim sims, squid for starters. Schzuean pork, fettucine and chicken and cashews for main. All really tasty. My daughters serving of fettucine was so big however that we all had it for lunch the next day too! They did seem a little disorganised, a few people came in who said they'd booked but the staff didn't seem to know. So a bit of shuffling of tables and chairs. And we weren't offered a second drink when our empties were taken away which was a bit odd, but I think one of the waitresses was very inexperienced. When price and food are great though, I don't worry too much about the rest.

I think Kiki has the wrong shop :-) Yum Yum house is excellent. Great food, service and lovely cosy place. Certainly head back.

We went there once for a lunch. The lunch menu was Chinese, not Thai.

Service was excellent.

For entree, we had spiced squid which had tasty onion relish, but was over-battered, spring rolls and a nice pork bun.

My daughter had milkshake which was amazing.

For main meals, we had crispy pork which had extra salt sprinkled over it, and chicken/cashew meal which was typically Chinese, nothing Thai about it.

The whole bill came to $46.

It was a great local to have, portions were good size. But since increasing its prices the food has lost its ingredients. More water in curries, less veggies & meat now. Little disappointing !

Excellent food and service. Staff very friendly. Very impressed with very extensive menu for food and beverages. Prices reasonable also. Will definitely dine again and will recommend to others. A great find in Tawa.

I love this restaurant. The squid starter is yummy as are the dim sims and wontons. It's all fantastic. The wine is reasonably priced and the service is great. We've taken big groups there and very accommodating with creating a set menu for us.

Great food, the best Chinese food in the local area. A small quaint restaurant with friendly service. We dined midweek evening & had no trouble to get a table without a reservation. Prices a very reasonable.
