This has to be one if our top dining experiences. The four of us each ordered different dishes for our mains. Each dish was amazing, salmon was beautiful, steak perfect and fish to die for. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his wine and dessert was fab. We will be back! Top night.
Excellent food. We ordered the house smoked salmon and the daily fish special (sole), easily the best food we have had in NZ. The wine list was good. One shortcoming: it took 55 minutes for the food to arrive and the restaurant was no more than 1/2 full by then.
I had a really lovely dinner at the Redcliffe Cafe. Chloe was my server and she gave me a bunch of wonderful recommendations. I ended up getting the rabbit and it was really nice. Cooked perfectly and paired well with the risotto. Great place to eat when visiting Te Anau and would 100% recommend. I would suggest getting a reservation as well because it can get quite busy.
We went there for lunch on a Wednesday in November. No wait at all. The food was delicious and the staff were really nice. We tried to go back for dinner but didn’t have a reservation and it was fully booked. Highly recommend stopping there if you drive by or stay in Te Anau!
Lovely place tucked in Te Anu. Food was fantastic (choices such as hare and vennison) and the steak was cooked to perfection. Service was attentive and nice. Good beers on tap too!
Absolutely amaaaazing food here! The place was full but we still got a table after first having some drinks in the bar. This is the best restaurant in town by far
Great food. Relaxed atmosphere. Lovely outside patio. The salmon was a surprise hit. And the venison was tender and wonderful.
One of the best steaks in NZ! The doneness was spot on and the blue cod… my goodness, excellent. The vegetation frittata was amazing too. Chloe is fantastic.
We loved it, got in early and was served a treat. We got a version as a entree that was thinly sliced almost rare with a sauce that complemented the garnish. Together with garlic bread and it was mixed bread with mouth watering butter it was the perfect starter.
For mains I ordered the lamb rack and partner got the blue cod...amazing food cooked as it should be! Service was good, nothing rushed. Food was nothing short of great with amazing taste.
It's a small place with out door seating and inside. Smallish miners cottage with period pieces scattered through with clippings of old news and photos.
A place we will visit next year again on our travels 👍🏼
The food presentation was lovely and both meals were delicious! We got the ceviche, potato soup and pork belly. Service was fantastic. Great spot with cozy atmosphere, historic decor and a bit of LOTR history!
Made a reservation here because I heard it was good and when it was described as the best restaurant in town by our Airbnb host, I was looking forward! Was definitely not disappointed, the food is great! Everything on the plate was good, down to the vegetables/sides. I'm typically a small eater and my husband was surprised at how much I ate. I got the salmon and he got the ribeye, we both enjoyed our dinner tremendously and left feeling very satisfied! Highly recommended and do make a reservation, we were there on a Monday night and they were fully booked!
Went again last week after a year away, and they are as perfect as ever! I tried the venison salad and was so happy (but not surprised). Delicious as always. Perfect service as always. Great vibes, as always
