Been here many times now as the in laws live in Thames. Never fails to please. Staff are just lovely, always have a smile, and the food is delicious, with very generous portions. Ot srared out as one shop in the main street, then they took over next door a few years back, and now recently took over the shop on the other side so now 3 times the original size. It was very busy last night, but the food was brought out in a very timely manner. Will be back.

We went to this restaurant on a recent trip to Thames. It was delightful, lovely food, clean, nice and cool and very friendly staff. We can recommend it and will definitely go again when visiting Thames.
Decided one day to venture here with my two children (3 & 1).
Staff were lovely & entertained the girls & had them giggling. Had special plastic bowls & cups for them also. We ate from the lunch special - everything $10 & were not disappointed. I will be bringing my family & friends here to eat often. The service was great & the food was tasty. Well done
This restaurant is clean, welcoming and on a hot night, the ceiling fans made it nice and cool. Straight away the atmosphere was friendly. We barely waited ten minutes to be served. My chicken pad thai was very good value, a generous plateful, as were my dining companion's. We were served cold water throughout the evening. The dessert was tasty, again amazing value and generously portioned (glad I shared it.) The only thing that stopped me putting five stars was the slight heat of spices I tasted in the pad thai, which was unusual. Would return again, for sure.
I'm so consistently impressed with this restaurant that I just had to help put the word out. I've lived in Thames for 29 years, and have seen plenty of restaurants come and go in this town due to miss management or a gradual decline in service or food quality. But the Nakongtong has been a pleasant exception. It did close for a few years due to the elderly woman owner moving on (not dying, just selling up), but the new owners brought it back with a vengeance, making it the busiest restaurant in town. They are very friendly and laid back, not to mention hard case. And of course my hat goes off to the chief, the food is always top notch, I've never had a meal I wasn't happy with.
If you ever stop in Thames for a night or two, you need to treat yourself to at least one meal at the Nakontong.
I have been to this restaurant several times, each time with different people.

OMG!!! What a treasure. The place was chockers full when we arrived without a booking but managed to snag a table for 2. We were so grateful they were able to accommodate us. Some of THE best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand... and better than some I had IN Thailand.. service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was great. Food arrived promptly and was just delicious.
If you find yourself in Thames or anywhere near, do yourself a favour and eat here.
Perhaps make a booking so as not to miss out.
Hidden gem in Thames! Amazing Thai food and decorated in Thai fashion. I can recommend mixed entree and Chicken with macadamia nuts. Good change from my usual curry or Pad Thai.
We took away and they gave us insane portians.
I recommend the peanut dish.

Super delicious food! We ordered the Chilli Tom Yum and the Spicy Curry Mix, both of which were very tasty. They also made it very hot on request, which was perfect. The roti bread was also crispy and buttery, so yum!
The staff are very friendly and the ambiance was great. The food portion was generous. What we really appreciated was that the rice was plentiful and fairly cheap (1$/portion). Usually at other Thai restaurants you get ripped off (4-5$).
All in all, an absolute recommendation, if you're in Thames, you must try this place.

You will need to book a week or more in advance, but its worth the planning. The meals are great quality and portion sizes are very generous. A wide range of cuisine, from mild to traditionally spicy.
The staff are incredibly professional and efficient, but also have a playful banter making it a very friendly visit.
Despite being a very popular venue, there is rarely any wait on being served, or delivery to table. They also do takeaway on top of the seated table service.
Good food but can improve and portion is bit small. Price is fair. Good service
