Review Tastebud Cafe - Thames

Lynda
A little gem located next to Aeroview Garden Centre on main highway into Thames township. Cafe has roomy indoors and a terraced deck area outside to sit on in summertime. Very friendly staff are there to help you select from either the blackboard menu or good choice of cabinet food. We ordered poached eggs on toast with bacon (approx $13) and buttermilk pancakes with fruit (16.50). My husband enjoyed his and my pancakes were the best Ive had. Delicious with good sized portions they came with an extra jug of warm syrup. Hung around the inside cafe walls is artwork for sale by local artists, all reasonably priced. So if you're looking for a fabulous cafe with good food and great service then I recommend stop here.

Sometimes quite busy and noisey indoors. Quiet outdoor eating area. Very pretty view. Execellent food. Very nice staff. Its my go-to stop for food when in the thames area. Excellent oversized coffee options.

Very well worth a visit. All of us were happy with the food we ordered. Obviously a family business as the sweetest little girl brought our food out. Would definitely go again.

When you are with a bus load of people, and stop for lunch, it's always a risk. But this place was so well organised it just was not funny. Service was great! Food was great and the coffee was even greater!

Very very good. Lovely food, generous portion. Great service. Couldn't give 5 stars because they served me food with cheap sausages and not proper meat ones. Considering the price, i can understand them doing this, but they could increase their price by a couple of dollars and serve nice sausages and get 5 star rating from me.

Menu is standard fare. The thing is, they make the food well, tasty and on time despite the place being busy. Good place to eat and run! Not all the staff are friendly! Please smile, fewer fascial muscles used than to be taciturn. Also, please do something about the flies!

Very pleasant cafe stop, nice outdoor seating, good range of food and tea, coffee etc. Prompt service, wasn't too busy, two bathrooms, one was in need of some attention, the other was fine. Ample parking outside.

We met friends here for lunch on a rainy Sunday. We had a walk around the garden centre while we waited for our friends. We found a table for 4 near the window with a good outlook to the garden centre. Service was most pleasant and prompt. I had a vegetarian pumpkin quiche and loved it. My husband had a bacon toasted sandwich yum! Will return on our next visit to Thames.

Brilliant Service, good food and an a very good range of Gluten Free, an option they take seriously. They even brought out the pack of Hollandaise sauce for me to check as they were unsure it was gluten free (it was).

Will go back when we are next passing.

Four women working in the cafe, one said yes when taking our order and despite being the only three customers in there, nobody spoke to us again.
They then sat and ate their breakfast and gossiped so loudly we couldn't hear ourselves think. Our food was served between them eating and at three different times. We only had a pie, porridge (undercooked) and 2 sad poached eggs with rubbery toast. They then all watched, whilst my husband and son looked for the toilet.
All in all not a pleasant experience.

Back in January 2011 we stopped for brunch at Tastebud Cafe and I had the BEST Eggs Benedict that I have ever experienced! Yum.

Totally recommend it!

Read a full blog and see a pic of what my Eggs Bene looked like at http://celestereviews.wordpress.com/2011/02/08/ben-addiction/

The food and coffee here was superb. We had a quiche with side salad, and honey and nut slice - both were just perfect. Our latte and soy mocha were also spot on. Nice and hot, strong but not so much that they were bitter.
