Maria's Cafe - Tolaga Bay - Photo album

Tolaga Bay wharf is still temporarily closed, but you can still get up close to it. There's a decent amount of parking and also has toilets and tables with seating.
There's an awful lot of old wood on the beach making it very photogenic but unsuitable for swimming or walking. Really hope the old wharf gets fixed up and people are able to walk along it again. Beautiful part of NZ
Absolutely peaceful and beautiful though it was cloudy & rainy. Nice to walk up about 600m from the foot to the end, built in 1929, this is not an ordinary pier. Quite many go for fishing and some are a gamer wearing a wetsuit and jump off the wharf.
Beautiful walk out over water, not to mention the 660m each way of exercise you get. The cliff walls are interesting in their curves and shadows. Cause I'm unfit I'd love a couple of seats at the end so I could watch the scenery and ponder before heading back.
This place is amazing, can't wait to go back...
wharf was shut. the gate was open , so we went.
Awesome place to visit with a lot of interesting history
Such a beautiful, serene and historic wharf. The walk itself is a journey, taking in the ocean breeze and views of caves along the mountains. This place adds to the beauty of our country. Must see and feel!!!
Absolutely beautiful! If you're game, jump off the wharf! There's a ladder there to climb back up. It was a pity it was overcast and a tad windy.
Just out of Gisborne city Tolaga Bay Wharf is stunning. It is 660m long and can be very windy. Be careful as right at the end there is no railings.it is stunning views and well worth a look. They had a Camping, Motorhome site near the wharf (in summer there is a small cafe open) but really windy and
Takes 15-20 mins to walk each way plus extra for photo stops. No crowds mid May, yay! (Told by a local that it's too busy in summer for a short visit as there are no car parks available, mostly buses and campervans parked in them all day.
On a bright sunny day what could be better. Stunning views. A long walk on a long pier. Sorry, wharf. Even spotted wild goats walking on the cliffs. Well worth a stop.
Taloga Bay Wharf is the second longest wharf in New Zealand. Its about a 30 mins drive out of Gisborne, but definitely worth the drive. We saw people surfing next to the wharf, as well as fishing from the wharf. There is a toilet by the carpark also. A must see if you are in this area!
First time ever going here. It was beautiful and the weather was just right. The water was Grey since there was a lot of wind and rain the night before, however it was still amazing walking around and just looking at the amazing scenery
we are so lucky to live in NZ. The restoration of our history is amazing and breathtaking. Big thumbs up to all of the people who have decided to restore our past. Thank You
Nice walk up and down the wharf. Very unique with its 660m length and amazing history to go with it. Really enjoyed the scenery!
