Review Shawty's Cafe - Twizel

This is a nice little cafe style restaurant. It's more on the fancy side and the seating inside is very comfortable and spacious. The service here is perfect and cannot be faulted. There was only one vegetarian option on the menu but it was incredible. My companions ordered steaks and ribs and they really enjoyed it, but one person complained about too much mustard seed in the sauce. Definitely you must try the waffle fries as an entree, they're great ! The ambience is very warm and welcoming. The drinks are great too. Minus one star mainly for very few menu items. Very nice place, very very nice food. Definitely come and visit if you're in the area.

A short stopover in Twizel and found this restaurant. Delicious smoked salmon chowder - so yummy. Braised beef cheek pasta is also suprising good with soft tender beef cheek on thick pasta. . Food : 4/5 Service : 4/5 Price : $$ Place : 3/5

The place was quite full when we reached there so we waited quite a while for our food to arrive. It's good that the waitress had informed us beforehand so the wait is fine. Very kind and friendly waitresses there. The place is very cosy and has a fireplace in it. Food is really good and we are all happy. The place is very easy to find coz there r only a handful of restaurants around

Really good coffee, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. For lunch my friends ordered SFC fried chicken and the big breakfast which both looked delicious. I had the steak sammy (without onions) which was tasty but it had a lot of mustard and the piece of steak was thick and small. So I will definitely be back for the other options and the cabinet food looked good too.

The owner was really generous and allowed my brother Pango to make a travelling piano concert there and gave us a dinner and beer. A salmon pizza and Burkes extra pale ale were delicious. Nice atmosphere and the staff was super friendly. Definitely a lovely place to visit in Twizel. Thanks!

We dropped in mid afternoon for a coffee, hot chocolate and muffin. All good with exceptional service. Decided to return in the evening for dinner and we were very happy with that decision, the Pizza was delicious. The atmosphere was great with live piano. Thanks Shawtys, if we're back in town we'll be sure to return.

Stumbled into this town for a quick bite and settled for Shawtys. It didn’t stick out like the nearby Hydro Cafe but the food it offers is exceptionally good. The way the food is plated also made me very happy. The staff are all very friendly and pleasant. Will come back again if I have a chance.

*Within expectations for dinner and breakfast food. Friendly staffs. *However price is high compared with other places in NZ, eg. CHCH, Blenheim and Nelson. *Excellent dessert! Apple and cinnamon wonton with ice cream is a must try!

Great service and menu. Lovely to sit outside in the morning sun and relax over a leisurely weekday breakfast. Nice touches like a tangy chutney on the side. Smoke free is nice too. Even a water bowl was brought out for a customer's dog. Thoughtful all round.

Shawty's was recommended to us by the shopkeeper a few doors down in the Hunting & Fishing shop. It smelt great the moment we walked in and everything tasted great too!

Everyone has bad nights, but this was way too many to ignore. After 30 minutes of being seated, we had to ask for the dinner menu, the drinks got mucked up and had to be chased up about 2 or 3 times. Got food served to us then a few minutes later it got taken off us because it was meant for another table. We had more than one person waiting on our table, so the lack of communication between them was really bad. Finally got to eat after an 1hr 20 minutes of waiting......the portion sizes were all different, the smallest portion consisting of more fat than meat. Getting the bill was an even bigger hassle and we got overcharged for our meal as the price on the menu was less than what they were charging. All in all, a pretty bad experience.....would never eat there again and would definitely not recommend it to anyone else!

Had the pleasure of dining here several times over the last weekend. Can't say enough about this wonderful cafe. Excellent service, excellent food and the best coffee I've had for a very long time. Twizel should be rightly proud of this awesome cafe!

Absolutely amazing meal . Lovely inside and very warm on a cold August night . Great friendly service . I had the pork belly with the best crackling I have ever had . My fiancé had the beef and said it we delicious especially the croquettes . If only we had room for desert . We will be back next time we are back in town.

Amazing pizza and salads. The food is delicious and the owners and wait staff make sure your happy with your meal. We went twice before leaving the area.

I took my Dad here for Fathers Day lunch after being recommended by a local. The food was tremendous, as was the service. Coffee was also great . Dad and I very happy. Thank you for helping make his day one to remember.

**Delicious food and amazing coffee** My husband and I stopped in to Shawtys Cafe in Twizel on the weekend and had the most amazing breakfast!! The food and coffee was delicious and the service was outstanding. We loved it that much, that we decided to go back the next day (yesterday) for lunch after my husband completed the Aroraki cycle race. Worth driving 10 minutes in the opposite direction before heading back to Christchurch. You will not be disappointed �

Worth going that bit further into the centre of Twizel for great coffee and cakes and a staff working it's collective butt off to make your visit special.
