Review Ministry Of Works Bar And Eatery - Twizel

Food was very good. Not that cheap, no, but still very good. I had the burger. It was great. Fries as well. The atmosphere and music was spot on. We didn't have a reservation but they made it work. It was just hard to hear the waiter because he spoke so quietly. That was the only thing. But he was super Nice.

We stopped through Twizel on the way to Mt Cook and grabbed dinner. The food was standard pub fare but the atmosphere was good and the service was quick

Best salad we’ve had in NZ over our 2-week trip. Lamb rump is good too! Also, they are the only place that’s still open at 7pm - definitely worth a try if you are looking for quality food around Twizel.

Great place for beers, food, and good times! We ordered their hazy IPA (Sunshine and Starships — yum!) then got roasted veggies and a pulled pork burger with slaw and fries. Service was fast, attentive, and friendly. Loved our time here!

Perfect after a hike. I never leave reviews but this was the best veggie burger I’ve had! I’m a long time vegetarian so have eaten a lot of veggie burgers. Staff was also super friendly and happy. Loved it all around.

Excellent food here, the best my husband and I have had during our week in New Zealand. The lamb was very tender and the crispy potatoes with it were also delicious. My salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce and sides complimented it very well. We had the buffalo cauliflower bites and they were very crunchy and tasty but I would say the sauce was more like an (Americanized) Asian-style sweet and a sour sauce with a little buffalo flavor and heat to it. This did not disappoint me, but if you really want traditional buffalo sauce it might. The service was good; I was waiting in line with a menu to order at the bar and a server grabbed me to order at a different register since the people in front of me were there for drinks.

Really nice stop while driving to Queenstown. Ordered some burgers and fries, cauliflower bites are amazing. Really nice ambiance and play ground outside the eatery. Service is good and person explained about the recipe of the burgers and other food.

Nice spot with excellent service and delicious food. We have come here several times over the years and haven't been disappointed. There aren't a ton of gluten free options, but what is available is tasty. A kids menu is available, and they were very accommodating to the little one. Coloring options are available, which makes things simpler. A decent beer selection is available, and there are wines to choose from, but without question, the food was the highlight, with the lamb being the winner of the best foods we got. The lamb was perfectly prepared, our compliments to the chef(s). Spices were spot on, and it was cooked to perfection. The peas and potatoes were a nice touch also. We'd come back just for the lamb, but the service was outstanding also. Inside seating was available, but we enjoyed the patio, as it has tables covered and not. Some chairs to lounge in were also present. Definitely will be back again soon. Thank you!

Superb meal. The lamb was tender, juicy and full of flavour. Loved the potatoes with the tangy herb, went so well with the feta whip. Didn’t expect much looking at the outside of this place or the set up, but this was a lovely evening.

We went here for dinner. It was fully booked when we got there initially (on Easter Sunday), but we were able to get a table for later on that evening. A pizza and a pint of beer between them cost around $40. I think that the meal was pretty good overall, I would definitely go back again.

Great food, the place was packed! Definitely recommend booking a table or you may miss out! Food was delicious and came out very fast, staff were polite and welcoming. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Very nice restaurant and bar with a nice collection of freshly made Pizzas and 10 brands of tap beer. We enjoyed live music by Boaz Anema when we dined (but I'm not sure if it's a regular thing or not). The service was good and we enjoyed the meal. Overall, it was a good choice for lunch.

Great place for food. We dropped in after a day skiing 4 adults 3 children, we didn’t have a booking. Staff went out of their way to get us a table, food was delivered promptly and delicious. Thank you for looking after one of our young ones when we needed to make changes to her ice cream dessert.

Called in the afternoon of the dinner to make a reservation for a rather big group, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating! For a few of us, we ordered the loaded fries, pepperoni pizza, beef burger, and buffalo wings. First off, the loaded fries were AMAZING. The beef burger was considered medium rare, probably a tad rarer than I expected. The pepperoni pizza was nothing exceptional but definitely good to have. The buffalo wings were not even spicy to begin with, which was disappointing. This is a place I'd come back again for sure as they have a tantalising menu.

We loved the Ministry of Works, it was a bustling restaurant environment, with extremely fast food service, plenty of craft beer options and a delicious menu. Highly recommend the lamb rump and the vegetarian croquettes main. My partner and I dont usually ever both get delicious meals at the same place so this was awesome. Great food, good service, would go again.

Some of the best hospitality staff I’ve ever encountered here. They went over and above for us, plus the food was so delicious. One of the best burgers we have ever had

Twizel may be a little town nestled in the McKenzie Basin but it has a few big town venues and MOW is certainly one worth visiting. Troy and Rachel have created a uniquely designed bar that incorporates the feel of the ministry of works era that was a huge part of Twizel and surrounding areas..The decor is beautiful and they have clearly put their heart and soul into providing a place for all to call in, enjoy the atmosphere and nostalgia and relax while having a beer, wine or one of their many options and if your feeling snacky then they have a great lil bar menu that won't disappoint. We'll done guys . You have given Twizel the perfect place to pop in and enjoy weither you are one of the many travellers passing through or one of the locals looking for cool place to socialize as a group or have a few quiets on your own to unwind. We loved it and I'm sure you will too.

Best vege burger. Service. Music. Atmosphere and real limes in the lemon lime and bitters. Husband enjoyed an Emerson’s Tap beer. Amazing. Go Twizel x
