Review Twizel Bakery Cafe - Twizel

Stopped here for lunch on the way home from completing the Alps to Ocean cycle journey. Bacon and egg quiche, chips and coffee. Service was friendly and professional, food was very good and reasonably priced. Outdoor seating was nice with shade cloth over the tables.

chanced upon this bakery in the town centre. Serves freshly baked pastry. It’s quiet when we are there but we can see it’s Popular among locals. there is 2 tables of regulars eating when we are there. One table of seniors enjoying their coffee chat and another family eating their breakfast. And locals coming in to buy takeaways. Can see that they are all familiar with the shopkeepers and bakers. We love the warm food and generous servings. We had steak&mushroom pie. It’s so good we added another pepper steak pie😅. Fish & chips served after 10/11am

The first time we visited, we wanted to grab a late lunch to go and appreciated that this bakery/cafe was still open while many other places were closed on weekends in Twizel. Their gingerbread flavoured hot chocolate and flat white were very made well. The pork riblets that came in a roll had a good amount of fat and was better than we expected. Their mince and cheese pie was hearty with beautiful pastry. The custard crounut was just yum! We came back again just before leaving Twizel for the hot chocolate and coffee. Arriving early in the morning, we saw many locals there which was a testament to how good this place was. 🅿️ Plenty of free nearby parking available ♿ Wheelchair-friendly stairless entrance with sliding door. Plenty of space between tables if eating in.

People are very friendly and the service is really good. There was a planned power outage in the area on the day we were leaving and they let us use our Nutribullet to make a puree for our infant son. Appreciate the kindness and bless them for their help.

Don’t expect a fancy cafe - this is a classic Stop-by place for quick and easy quality pies and bakery stuff. Even with high traffic quick in service and good standard quality food

Best pies - steak and cheese was so good. Hearty and honest. Custard filled cronut was sublime. Thanks team. Better pie than the one I got at Doughbin in Wanaka that was full of gravy with no steak or cheese

Great spot for a bakery feed. The best Cornish pasty iv ever found in NZ. I make sure to head here when ever I'm in Twizel. A proper pasty with mince, peas, turnip etc... all the meat and veg you could want.

Food here is incredible. Sadly I have to say presentation of staff is poor, filthy clothes, unshaven and the kitchen servers.. underneath and surface facing shop is filthy. Very off putting...sadly

This little bakery caff rocks. Coffee good, great selection sandwiches, cakes, slices, pies and sausage rolls for the 'I don't want to hang around too long traveler'. Good free WI FI too.

Pies and food delicious. Hot chocolate great. Even though there was a queue out the door they had 4 people serving so it was so quick. Plenty too choose from.

Visited here for a quick breakfast. Has a cabinet with a selection of wraps and toasties and sweets Althogh our pastry was heated in a microwave which made it soggy. The toasties were heated in a sandwich press, so that tasted good. Coffee was good. Plenty of undercover outdoor seating available here.

A great place for morning coffee & pies for the whole family. Large seating area indoor & out. Bakery is not visible from parking space. A little walk inwards and you will spot the cafe. Just follow the smell of coffee with good faith 🫰🏼

We’ve been in Twizel for a couple of days as part of the Alps to Ocean ride. We must have gone back to this cafe 6 or 7 times as the food was so good. They have excellent sandwiches and buns for your lunch time riding breaks, and they have these cronuts that might even win a best in NZ award one day! Enjoy!
