Review The Musterer's Hut Cafe & Gift Shop - Twizel

A-Cute Hunger
Cute cafe for a bite and coffee! Famous for their home baked scones and cakes, and delicious coffee. Plenty of seating outdoor and indoor, great pit stop on your way to Mount cook!

Absolutely loved this very kiwi cafe! Everything from the nostalgic dining chairs to the posters in the bathroom really reminded me of old school New Zealand! After spending years overseas, Twizel and the local businesses have done an amazing job of preserving our culture and not over commercializing.

Very nice coffee & ice coffee as was the food set amongst Formica 50s style furnishings with rural, rustic fittings. Quiet atmosphere with obliging, friendly staff made this a café worth future visits and a mention to family and friends.

Smoking palate of breakfast options well prepared and tasty. Coffee & teas complete the picture. Small gift shop in the corner. Ample parking and a fairly large seating area.

Excellent breakfast restaurant with well deserved reputation. I had the vegan tofu scramble which was spicy and enjoyable and my wife had the Turkish eggs see pics. (NZ$47) We had both started when I took the pictures. Service was friendly and the environment was warm and cozy.

Stopped here on our way through to Wanaka. Excellent coffee and lovely breakfast. One of the best Egg Benedict I’ve ever had. Highly recommended.

An eclectic looking cafe but don’t be put off by looks. The food was delicious. I’m not normally a salmon fan but their dish was the best I have ever had. The omelette was outstanding. Don’t overlook this place as its food is worth a stop.

Lovely cafe! Had a chai latte and a slice of carrot cake. Everything was delicious.

Sorry my previous review was mixed up with somewhere else. We played mini golf here which was great, food was good and they did a nice flat white. Just beside the main road with friendly staff.

Great outdoor dining area in the sun. And the dog could join me too.

Nice spot in Twizel to just hang out and take a break. Food was ok if not fantastic but service staff were friendly and the gift shop was interesting. Also has restrooms for customers that were well maintained.

Fantastic coffee, amazing fluffy cheese scones, very tasty cakes and breakfast rolls - all in a warm, welcoming and quirky retro atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Nice little cafe with friendly staff and tasty food. Was a little cold and plates could do with being warmed as food cooled off to fast but was tasty

Decent place to get food at a reasonable price! Portions are good and service is great!

Overall good experience, small issue with there not being and spinach but kitchen staff informed me and gave me alternate options, one less star due to there being a few dead flies on the windowsill where we sat which tell me it wasnt cleaned recently but food tasted amazing as was the coffee

This place is so unassuming but what a gem. The staff is super friendly, the seating is fun and eclectic, and the food and beverages will wow you. We stopped here randomly so our kids could play at the playground nearby and we’re just amazed at the quality of the food. The pies are just next level and the coffee and smoothies are delicious. Definitely give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Good lunch spot on way through to Te Anau. Selection of food was good. Activities outside including Mini Putt.
