Nice ahtomosphere and food was very reasonable price and big amount. The beef burger has two patties and eggs! And only $19 Cozy cabin styled pub šŸ˜ƒ

Dubious at first but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food for the price. Beef burger was generous with two Patties. Friend got the scotch steak which was cooked to her liking. One of the staff members was hit and miss in regards to serviceā€¦ But overall good experience with a no frills honest pub.

Really good food. I rated it a 4 but only because the steak needed a bit more cooking. My whole meal got replaced and quite quickly. Service awesome and an excellent atmosphere for adults and children alike. Thoroughly recommended

Reliable, family friendly, happy and inviting staff. The food is fast, good portions, and exactly what you would expect from a tavern. Our little boy had a great time and the staff were great with him, patient, kind and friendly

One of the best deals in upper Hutt. Always great food and friendly staff at surprisingly good prices. Definitely try the burgers but everything on the menu has been great.

Great place to meet for lunch with friends the food is truly superb the size of the servings definitely does not leave you hungry. Service was quick. I had the vegetable curry and what I liked was it was not spicy but spices were on the table to add if you wanted it hot.

Lovely meal and excellent service, would pass on the butter chicken but the lamb shanks, Burgers and schnitzel was delicious. Didn't have to wait long and staff were great.

Had the Paua Burger (Large) today and Chocolate Brownie to go. The Burger was epic and well worth the $24. Loved the Brownie. Served by an amazing lady wearing glasses who talked me into the burger, didnā€™t get her name unfortunately. Awesome service and great food! Iā€™ll definitely be back! Thanks

Have been here a couple of times this year! Staff are fantastic. There is an older man who is very attentive and cares for his customers. Food is delicious! Atmosphere is lovely and they offer a good amount of space. They catered to my family of almost 30 which was amazing definately going back

Itā€™s me and my partners go to place. We quite often go here for lunch, dinner or whenever we feel like pub food. I have also been here with family as well as friends. Itā€™s a family friendly atmosphere with great prices to great meals. Iā€™ve never had a bad meal over the years Iā€™ve been coming here. Itā€™s a must try - I know I will continue to come back for sure. šŸ’Æ

Was not too bad. Came last night for dinner as I read in the local paper they have changed their menu and getting away from the pub feel. Was quite busy last night and managed to get a table (just). Prices were really good and was surprised the steak was good quality and cooked to my liking. Chips were cooked perfectly. I asked if I could swap the two fried eggs for extra chips which they happily did. No table service and ordered a coke zero which came in a can with a glass. Would of been nice if we had received bigger glasses with ice as they were small beer glasses. Would definitely dine again here.

i love this place , value for money is what you get here and friendly service with a smile always makes the food taste better, I love the onion rings that come with the meals, for two mains and two pints of the cold stuff I got change back from $60 all I can say is we will be back .

Delicious food - great value for money. Busy night but our order did not take long at all. Family friendly atmosphere. The lovely staff were attentive.

Omg Murray and his staff make a beautiful atmosphere. Clearly you donā€™t go here for fine dining. But good classic kiwi pub food done well Quinnā€™s Post is a must.

The sizes are amazing even the biggest eater wouldnā€™t go home hungry.

The schnitzel with gravy is to die for

Iā€™ve been going to the Quinnā€™s Post for a couple of years now for both lunches and dinners. Fresh, delicious food, low prices and generous servings. Yum. So, I decided to book our Christmas lunch at Quinnā€™s this year, however was told by the owner that they put on a free community meal on Christmas Day and hope to have about 200 customers coming in. I really admire that the Quinnā€™s is a great community establishment. Great for families too. Friendly staff and fabulous Upper-Hutt famous pies!!

I have eaten at Quinn's Post many times and have known Murray for several years.Ā Ā It is disappointing reading some of the latest reviews who clearly aren't brave enough to make their so called complaints face to face.Ā Instead they choose to hide behind social media and a computer screen.Ā The food has always been of a high standard and Murray takes particular pride in what he serves to his customers.Ā At anyone time, whether it be lunch or dinner, the restaurant is full with a lot of repeat customers.Ā Its not a five star restaurant and Murray doesn't make it out to be.Ā The food is wholesome and having seen his preparation out the back, I know its always fresh.Ā For those who want that five star experienceĀ get out from behind your safe haven of the virtual world and stop bagging a great neighbourhood bar.

hahah what can I say , a cold winters night and a good ol' roast pork. best pub food round and for the best prices too! one thing I would like different is proper mash spud, and maybe a few more Yorkshire puds ā¤
Neat Eats
We live close by and often walk across to Quinnā€™s when we want a meal out and donā€™t want to go ā€˜outā€™. What I love about it - you can wear pretty much anything - you donā€™t need to dress up, you are accepted as you are, no judgement whatsoever. Itā€™s quiet - you are not going to get any trouble here, everyone is there to relax and eat with their friends/family. I think it depends on your expectations with this place. After living in Melbourne for so many years and having many fantastic local pubs to choose from I can see potential with Quinnā€™s, the site is gold - hereā€™s hoping it happens.

Good little local pub! Always come for the food!Burgers are cheap and always fill me up.

Staff are always friendly and it's close, good atmosphere and just overall good.
Drinks are cheap and I've never been disappointed. Oh actually, there was 1 time when Murray, the friendliest lad in the world wasn't there. Love Muz.Ā

Keep it up team! :)

First time staying in Upper Hutt, heard this tavern served some good food. Word of mouth definitely delivered, I loved everything about the Quinn's Post

What a place! The meals are always so fulfilling and tasty with a dirt cheap price.

The service is fantastic, such friendly staff. Always smiling and willing to help.

We all had iced chocolate's for dessert and these were the best iced chocolate's I've ever had.

Food was awesome, so much food for little price.
Service and venue was amazing

All in all a great experience. 10/10

I came here with family friends last night during our short stay in Wellington and Upper Hutt. The prices are pretty steep for what they provide. Ugly interiors and bad music choice. Not a pleasant environment at all, especially with the bland food.

Quinn's Post Tavern represents the kind of establishment I usually would not eat at. However, I thought I would give them a chance, having heard some good things about the place from some friends. I will admit I came in with very low expectations. Amazingly, even these very low expectations were not met. At all.

Upon arrival, we were invited to sit down, browse the menu, and wait for the staff to come to our table to get our orders. Some 20 minutes later, we were still waiting for staff to come to our table and take our orders. At this stage, we decided to approach the front counter to follow up, only to be told that the Tavern does not actually provide table service (contrary to what the first staff member had told me).

Water was not offered at all. There was no desire from any staff member to go the extra mile. Of course I was under no illusions about this establishment being a "good old honest pub", as they market themselves. However, being a "good old honest pub" does not mean neglecting customer service.

The food itself was nothing special: crumbed beef schnitzel with potato chips, instant gravy, and a side of what I often call "tokenistic greens". For a Tavern that purports to satiate the appetite of lumberjacks and hungry Upper Hutt Locals, the dish left us feeling underwhelmed. Even for $17.00, you would expect the food to be better cooked (even for a pub), and that some level of service would actually be provided.

Quinn's Post Tavern are lucky their clientele come from a very easily-satisfied subset of the population who are unlikely to complain, and even more unlikely to read online reviews. They are also lucky they occupy a location where they are essentially the monopoly food provider. Were it not for this fact, this establishment would be in very real trouble.

Save your money and head elsewhere. The extra few minutes to Upper Hutt CBD is well worth it.

What a badly run night tonight, this place usually brings out food super fast even when it is busy but I don't know what was going on tonight. I would have expected that if it was an unexpected busy night for them they would have passed this on when we purchased our meal such as "things are a bit slower this evening so please just bear with us." We asked for our money back for our dessert when we waited 20 minutes. Over it by then!! I believe one lady was waiting over an hour for their meal! I loved the lamb shank that I had for the main šŸ˜‰

Value for money, with plenty of selection , man size portions.
Very popular. The food came out in good time considering the place was busy with some big groups seated here.
Debra Kirton
Terrible service, terrible food, terrible staff. Just terrible in general. I'm usually not this critical about pub food but this was really the bottom of the bottom.
Rachael Ayling
If you want a good pub meal then this is a great place to stop, the schnitzel is a good size and most dishes are under $20, not a long wait time and the place is well known for there home made pies if yr in a hurry.
Rodney Vincent
Thought we would try Quinns Post out for lunch as we had had never been there and man I'm glad we did...first of all the staff were nice and the atmosphere was good...the selection of food they had on the menu was awesome and great value for money for the portion size you receive...I can definitely say that we left with full stomachs and DEFINITELY will be returning ā˜ŗ

Went here with my in laws who go quite regularly, our meals were delicious!!
Excellent value for $$
The quality of the food was impressive and we all enjoyed our meals, also the cheapest round of drinks we had while in Wellington. .would go again next time we're in town
Foodgenie
Went here for a dinner function, excellent service, after food was ordered it turned up less then 10 mins later. 11$ jug of speights was good value for money. I had the lamb, vegetables were cooked well, the lamb was decadent and fell right off the bone. I would visit again.

My girlfriend and I decided to try Quinn's Post Tavern for lunch as it was close by. The place really did look like a tavern, which was quite pleasant to eat in, and I can imagine it being even better during the cold winter months. It was very busy, but the man who looked like he ran the place was very friendly, and made sure that we were okay with a bit of wait on our order as it is very busy. Our meals did not even take that long given the concern the man had.

I ordered their Sirloin Steak, which had fries, onion rings, salad, two eggs, and mushrooms. I asked the steak to be medium rare, but what I got was Ā a steak which was medium on some areas and medium-well on the others. I am not a steak connoisseur, so I did not mind it too much, but it could have been more tender. They make great onion rings, their big, crispy, and full; not just air and batter.Ā

My girlfriend ordered their Beef Schnitzel; on the menu, it was not listed with onion rings, but it came with some, which was great. She found the schnitzel a little bit too dry.

What makes the meals even more worth their price, are the portion sizes. We would definitely come back to this place, as the other meals also looked appetizing.

A buzzing little local, I got the steak meal which was certainly man sized with good variety on the plate, the steak was medium well when asked for rare, but otherwise was an ok meal. My partner got the terakihi, which was nicely crumbed and cooked well. Overall was a good experience and priced adequately. We will return.

Man this place is hearty, changing its image from a local drinking hole to a family friendly place with an emphasis on food has cleary paid off. Old mate who runs the joint is a good lad who obviously cares about the food he's putting out and all the staff are genuinely nice. There wore soo many tempting options, particularly the lamb shanks to that wore rolling out. The food is like lonestar sytle/quality but 10 dollars cheaper. I got the schnitzel burger which was very very good, massive portion and good quality ingredients. If I was out here more I'd be sure to visit regularly to get a grasp on their whole menu which I can tell you they put a lot of effort in.

Service - good
Food - good, pies really nice
Atmosphere - good
Recommend - yes

Good food and beer in a nice atmosphere with friendly staff, all a good pub should be so go back regularly.

Nice tavern, warm and cosy enjoyed the lunch special of PEA PIE and SPUD . Service was average, the TAB here is busy and seems to be the staffs first priority,Ā in short good food average service, but will try again Ā :-)

This is the first time I have been to the Tavern and I have found the experience well worth waiting for. We started with the Garlic bread then, I Ā had the Glazed Ham and vegetables, everything was fresh and beautifully cooked, unfortunately I was so full after the meal I was unable to try the deserts, next time I'll have to have a half meal so I can try them too.
Tracey Smith
Been once and would love to try again. Food was good and tasty. Although there were some children there I wouldnā€™t recommend dining with kids here as I prefer not to take my kids to a pub for meals reasonable prices and plenty on the menu to choose from. .
Rachael
Went there for tea last night with a group of 12, had booked as it was a friends kids 3rd birthday, they set the area at the back for us which was perfect and took our order after everyone had had a good look at the menu and received there drinks, very simple menu but we were all very surprised at the prices, from $12-$18 which includes massive burgers and steak! everything come out within a few mins of each other and it was impossible to even consider deserts, they brought the cake out which we brought with us and no extra sur charge, was a perfect night and will be back again.
