Review Panhead Custom Ales - Upper Hutt

Always welcoming and great service and food, plus they make my dog so welcome. My favourite of the Brewtown bars.

Went there a couple of weeks ago, BEST brewey of them all! Their beer are amazing, so much flavour! The staff was doing a great job, fast, efficient and friendly! The food was A M A Z I N G !! Good portions and very tasty. If you are in wellington or close by don't hesitate visiting this place.

Always relaxed. Supercharger beer has to be my personal favorite. Had some pulled pork loaded fries, which were delicious as usual. Hot as today. Sat outside near their outside fan in the shade. Love it.

Great food, great service. Only downside is that there isn't much space indoors, outdoor bar feels very disconnected & not a great spot to go with toddlers (outdoor space is on the carpark). So much potential tho. Hope they build it out

Great food and beer served by a prompt polite crew with a bunch of good music playing. Perfect.

Went here on the weekend. Already a fan of their beers, but the food was amazing. Super quick from ordering to being served also. Live music was great and bouncy castle for kids topped it off. Perfect afternoon

OMG three times I dropped in this week to try their entry to Wellington On A Plate burger "Don't Fear The Reaper". Got there just after 12 and everyone in que was buying the burger. Besides burger staff are brilliant and bar is awesome. Plenty of seating options available outside, covered and open. Heaps of parking out front, wheelchair accessible etc. A number of craft beer options. Not sure but either they are pet friendly or they have their own little dog running around in any case it was good to see. Atmosphere is relaxed and fairly laid back.

I might be classed as a bit biased as I am somewhat of a regular. I've never had a bad beer here and the food is good. Staff are brilliant. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Beers are updated regularly (menu is on the right hand side of of the dispensing taps). However the core range is generally always available. 'Johnny Octane' empty at time of writing. Well worth a trip out to "Brewtown"

Holy moly, go here. Panhead, despite being an Upper Hutt original is late to the game, but makes up for it with amazing fantastic beer selection and en pointe food. Wine also available. Beer selection includes Panhead’s standard range and a revolving menu of eight batch beers only available at the tap room. Beer connoisseurs will be very happy; people that aren’t wankers will be happier. The food from Grill Meats Beet is formidable, with a superb little range of classic burgers that don’t fall apart in your hands, and starters to die for. Get the Japanese fried chicken no matter what - being bloated is worth this taste. Go here and go here soon for all the superb craft you know and live from Panhead, with perhaps a bit more adventure than you’d expect. And enjoy every single taste.

Went with some friends last weekend and have such an awesome time. They've got heaps of beers to try and loads of barbecue food! We sat outside as they have loads of nice outdoor areas. The flights were very reasonably priced.

Great range of beers on tap and indoor and outdoor seating, it is pricey though. Also food was disappointing and over priced, when you pay $22.50 for a brisket burger and fries I think you should expect hand cut fresh fries, not frozen rubbish. The burger itself was good, I would give the food a 3 star and the beer an 4 and half.

10 out of 10! Amazing beers and plenty of them. Food was amazing, we pick up the "all four of them" from the pit for dinner. Meat overload but highly worth it but be hungry, two of us couldn't finish it. Pulled pork was to die for! If you are in the area you MUST stop by. $3 Tasters and very cheap pints, dont forget to fill up your takeaways by the litre!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The authentic barbeque is done to perfection and the "all the meats" platter is outstanding!! Their cornbreads, burgers and the pork belly burnt ends are also incredible. Will definitely be back!!!

Brewtown have everything. Distillery, Aro, Bonehead, Kereru, Good George, Panhead all breweries at one place. Food trucks outside provide good combination of things. Love the place as beer enthusiast.

Food was amazing. We ordered buffalo wings, loaded pork fries, a burger and the little pork bites. All of it was great!

Dropped into Panhead custom Ales to sample their Visa Wellington on a Plate burger. We tried to book, no replies to phone or Facebook so took a chance at getting fed. It was after 7.30pm when we arrived. The place was packed with only outside seating available. The staff were very welcoming and we explained our dilemma. The duty manager graciously enquired with the chef if he could supply two more covers of the delicious WOAP burger and he said it wasn't a problem. If you haven't experienced the Wellington on a plate burger selection at numerous eateries around the city and spilling over into the hill to Featherston, then mark it on your calendar. We were spoiled as we sampled the best burger in town first. Their lamb offering is scrumptious. The staff even cranked up the outside heater and supplied blankets as Saturday night wasn't outside weather. Top marks Panheads, we'll be back again.

After an exhausting and competitive fun afternoon of go-karts, bowling and mini golf, our group was in need of energy refueling (and "rehydration" 😉) This awesome lil place was a hit! A welcoming indoor/outdoor dining atmosphere, awesome menu of meals & bites and a pretty sweet wide selection of drinks all with some feel good music playing behind it all, made for a great evening and cool vibes atmosphere 😀 and 5 stars for the lovely accommodating and gracious staff. Such excellent customer service! ❤️ Most definitely coming back!

Best part of Brewtown and certainly rhe best food. Awesome service too, for example, I dropped my napkin and before I could pick it up it was silently replaced by one of the staff. Loge their smiles, their attention and speed. Grwt vide, a sense of fun and beer to tell your friends about.

Hey guys. I have been drinking Supercharger since I tasted it at Brewday a few years back in Martinborough. It has been my favourite beer ever since. I buy at least 2 boxes, but more often than not, 3-4 boxes a week. Unfortunately in the last few months I have had to change beers as the taste of Supercharger has changed significantly. It seems way more citrusy if thats a word and the after taste is horrific. I hate doing this but I am writing this review in the hope whatever is wrong becomes right again. I've got very little doubt that many other people are experiencing the same disappointment.

Tried he XPA on the weekend and it shot straight up to my favourite list. Can wait to go grocery shopping this week to stock up the fridge, kick the feet up and savour every moment.

It saddens me to write this review, based on the Port Road Pilsner. This was until I can track back to October 2016 one of, if not my favourite pilsner! What happened?! Anything bottled or canned from October onwards comes with a complete change of flavour! Comparisons have been made and unanimous decision has been met that the recipe must have changed.... Please can you guys go back to what you were good at!

Just drank a lovely Quickchange XPA and have to say it's absolutely wonderful. The fruity tones bode well with spicy Indian food - highly recommended!

Port Road Pilsner restored my faith in tasty pilsners. Quickchange XPA a good closer. Been away from Welly for 10 years. No surprise where the best beers are made considering that everyone else up north is just catching up (a good thing). Procured at Scenic Cellars in Taupo.

Love the Blacktop Oat its like a meal in bottle Once you go Black its hard to go back

Best beers I've ever tasted, always asking for Panhead.

Quickchange XPA is primo. Love the APA too, but the Quickchange is nice and hoppy and aromatic yet light enough to be a session beer to drink all night. Nice work!

Just trying the Vindicator. Stunning beer! Now I am slightly torn which is my favourite Panhead brew. It was the vandal. Both are great!!
Simon Skate
