Excellent little Cafe North of Upper Hutt. Tasty fresh scones with cream, butter & jam. Also had the eggs and hash browns which was delicious. Great spot to bring the family!

Wow! What a little find. Didn't expect this. This family run cafe specialises in glutin-free, vegan and non-processed food cooking. Don't let that scare you, it's not run by Hobbits. They have heaps of normal and meat food to. The cafe is located in an off the road location in an historical building and run by a very lovely family. Well worth a visit.

Delicious food and drinks! Stopped by here yesterday while riding the Rimuataka trail. Although I arrived 10 minutes before closing time, the team were more than welcoming and served up a fantastic toasted sandwich - hit the spot perfectly!

Best kept secret of Upper Hutt! IM IN LOVE. Dont come here with your crappy city attitude and expect a fast food, non contact service. Come here and expect to receive the most friendly service on the north island, expect to be treated like family while Kevin HAND MAKES and bakes you the best scones you will ever taste, with his range of HOME MADE jams and selection of freshly brewed teas, the whole thing will take your breath AWAY! Sit outside in the sun on the gorgeous picnic tables, on beautiful picnic blankets and just marvel at the absolute picturesque tranquility of the most stunning kept garden of Upper Hutt while the tea and scones put your taste buds in heaven. You may have to wait for your scones while you chat to the nicest man in upper hutt but trust me it is worth the wait!

Upper Hutts best kept little secret. Beautiful fresh scones with cream and jam, lovely tea selection and set in a very quaint location. Would highly recommend.

Best cream tea ever! Huge freshly made scones, plus delicious jams with whipped cream, or savoury relish. Large pot of leaf tea, with top ups. Yummy and only $7 each! Friendly, hard working host. Choice of places to sit inside or out. Definitely worth a visit.

Dirty cup and knife, underdone scone, and he was not nice to deal with, rather grumpy. He was cleaning the fridge when we arrived. He carried on while we waited then he cleaned the floor with a cloth. Not washing his hands, he finally served us. He had no clotted cream, which is a vital element in a Devonshire Tea, otherwise it becomes scones with jam & cream. We paid for a Devonshire Tea, but didn't get it. So sorry not impressed

Fantastics scones, nice surroundings, and excellent value. While I am not a tea drinker my wife said it was good too. Well worth the drive.

Didn't have a cream tea, but the scones smelt delicious, being freshly cooked in the oven. Lovely lot of outside tables in a garden setting. Great stop off on the way to Kaitoke national park.

6-11-15 took my sister who was visiting from Sydney, our mum and aunt. Beautiful day, lovely surroundings, simply charming place. On our arrival Kevin placed 2 blankets on the wooden seating for us and helped my Aunt sit in a chair at the end of the table. Was impressed how Kevin warmed the teapots before making the tea - how tea should be made. Impressed with the generous size of scone, fresh jam and cream.I am certainly going back and would recommend to others. Quilting shop next door was also very nice and well stocked.

Tea and Scones at Stonestead is a regular indulgence and it is the Hutt's best kept secret. You get a scone fresh from the oven, scrummy homemade jam, a luxurious dollop of cream and a pot of tea, all for less $10! The gardens around the colonial buildings are the perfect setting for this English tradition. If the weather's bad you can sit next to the heater upstairs among the vintage goodies and flick through quilting and DIY magazines.

I love the authenticity of Stonestead - no hipster pretension here - it is simply charming. Kevin - scone maker, jam maker and host - is friendly and hard case.

It can get very busy on sunny days, so be prepared for bit of a wait.

Thoroughly recommend a morning or afternoon tea there. Beautiful garden setting away from the hustle and bustle , friendly service and a lovely big freshly made scone with generous portion of jam and cream and a choice of teas or for a reasonable price.

I took a friend to Stonestead. Delicious cheese scones fresh from the oven. Wonderful raspberry jam. I had Christmas tea and my friend had a lovely fruit tea. He doesn't normally drink teas, but he really enjoyed.

Lovely garden, friendly ducks, lovely old china to buy and delicious preserves to take home.

Visit the attached Sawmiller's Quiltery while you are there. Well worth the visit!

This is absolutely one of the best places for an afternoon or morning tea. $6.50 gets you a pot of tea, a gigantic scone, heaped cream, and homemade jam. I had strawberry, but I reckon any of them are delicious. Lovely host, beautiful gardens. I will bring anyone willing back!

Great place to take the mother or mother in law. Lovely gardens, scones are devine and well priced. A very economical morning or afternoon tea. Kevin is a dag and a fab host. Buy his blackberry jam! You won't be disappointed!
