I came here a whil ago and was not impressed with the steak. However decided to come today, and i could not fault my scotch fillet steak, cooked med rare, tasted amazing. Long horn double patty burger looked delicious and mouth watering, the patties were cooked to perfection and the flavors awesome. Kids nugget meal, fresh nuggets!! Kidsmeal free on sundays. Customer service, lady was super nice and chef stayed open even when we arrived cutting it close for kitchen to close. Desserts were yumm too.

Our first time here. Your average cosy style pub restaurant but far exceeded our expectations. Friendly service. Juicy pieces of steak and crisp fries! Loved the dessert too! 20% off tonight too 🤑 Def returning for more! Cheers!

Our family almost go there at least once a month. We are very happy about their service & meal most time. Especially lunch meal & Monday steak meal. Recommend to everyone who like dinning out in local

Came here for a birthday dinner on a Friday night. The service we received was lovely, and the waitress was very friendly and welcoming. However the food was disappointing. I ordered the longhorn burger with a a double patty, and found it very underwhelming. The bun itself was very soggy, and the coleslaw tasted as if it was days old. The rest of my families meals were cold, and also bland. We understand that it is a pub, so it is a good place to come for a drink, but not for the food.

Very nice, good customer service, lovely people.<br/>Main highlight was the BURGER WOW! That was one good burger! Highly recommend: The Longhorn Burger 😍<br/>I know everyone has different tastes but for me wow that was good.<br/>Definitely coming back again to get another burger.

Been coming here for years with family for the 2 for 1 steaks on Mondays. It's definitely got the friendly local pub vibe but still feels a bit classy. The service is good, the steak is great, and so are the sides. The weekend lunch menu is pretty damn good too.

Usually come here once every few months, either Monday's for 2 for 1 steak dinner (awesome deal!!) or for lunch. Steak always tastes great, loads of delicious sides to choose from. Absolutely love the eggs benedict! Portions started getting smaller a while ago but seems to be okay now.

We dined here tonight 26/5/17 a party of 4. <br/>The food was ok, nothing amazing. I had the Chicken Parmesan and the others all had steaks. My chicken was quite dry and the steaks were of average quality but they were cooked to order. We had cheesy Garlic bread as a starter but it lacked garlic flavour.<br/>The service was below average, when we arrived there was another table of 3 who had already ordered, I had to call the waiter over after 15 mins for some service. The meals didn't take overly long to arrive. We arrived at 6.30pm and from 7pm-8.30pm we were the only customers on a Saturday night. After we ordered our meals the waiter not once came back to offer drinks in the 2 hours we were there. <br/>The place has new owners and the menu is not the menu shown here. I doubt we would go back.<br/>It was also cold in the restaurant, it has a lovely gas fire but it wasn't on. <br/>

Took a client there for a lunch and we both ordered steak - the bartender very friendly and made it very simple for me to made a tab, kept an eye on our drinks so he could quickly serve us again, steaks were perfect and took 25 mins, prices weren't bad, only thing was the steak was on the smaller side.

We last went in 2013 and I recall enjoying my meal, however I wasn't on Zomato then. I felt like a hearty meal so we went back tonight. The only staff on was a guy run off his feet front of house and the chef. New menu - new chef! My entree was the pear & blue cheese tart - SUPERB! The hubby had the lemon pepper calamari - which was lovely and tender with a very tasty aoli. We both had steak - I the porterhouse with coleslaw, potato gratin & grilled tomato ; hubby had the T-bone with cauliflower gratin & fries - we both had bernaise sauce. Our steaks were cooked perfectly & my coleslaw & gratin were delicious. We couldn't leave without dessert - I had the triple chocolate heaven; hubby had the apple crumble. Including 4 drinks the whole meal was a $85 (20% off mains on Wednesday) . It was a nice touch that you can customise your meal from a wide choice of accompaniments. This is easily one of the two best restaurants in Upper Hutt - the other being Cafe Romeo.<br/><br/>Here's the hubby's perspective:<br/>"Apparently the missus and I came here in 2013 and, whilst I don't recall the food back then, she said it was good and decreed that it was time to go back, helped by the Wednesday special of 20% off mains.<br/> We arrived early about 5:30pm and had our choice of tables. Orders placed and beer supplied. She raved about her blue cheese and pear tart for a starter, and I too was impressed with the calamari I had. Both were quite basic, but well made and presented. Both our steaks were very good, and being able to choose from a list of accompaniments was4 a good touch. Madam was impressed with her choice of potato gratin and 'slaw', though my fries and cauli was just ok. Serving the steak atop the fries makes everything fit on the plate, however where do the meat juices end up? Yep, on the once-crunchy fries which soaks it all up... Her Chocolate Heaven dessert was fantastic, and my apple crumble was also very good. <br/>All up, two staters, two mains, desserts, two juices, a beer and an RTD came to $85.00 which was very good value with the 20% discount. That said, my main was $34.00 and without the discount the value-for-money proposition might start to look a little shaky compared to some other places we've been recently that do a steak meal for this price."

Have been twice at lunchtimes. No other clientele. Both times have been disappointed with the steak. Although it was med rare as requested it was tough- hard to saw through. Wouldn't get steak there again.

Excellent evening last night at the Longhorn for the 6 course degustation evening. The course selection and presentation were impeccable as was the wine which accompanied each course. Well done to Adam and the team. This was a total dining experience and we will be back.

Four of us there on Saturday May 17 and firstly would like to draw your attention to outdated menu, e.g. taste bud ticklers non existent, however even if it was current, doubt very much whether this would have offered anything better to our dining experience.<br/><br/>For the prices charged the food was abysmal, so bad that we will never eat at your establishment again. One of the four meals served was catch of the day, quite frankly judging by the amount of fish, I doubt very much if anything was caught that day. Whatever it was, the sparse vegetables did an excellent job of disguise.<br/><br/>While we have no complaints about staff attitude, our concerns were expressed to our waitress who advised this would be brought to the kitchens notice but we are still waiting for a response.<br/><br/>So another to be added to the Don't Go list.

Firstly..They brought me the wrong steak...Secondly..It was far from cooked the way I requested. Thirdly..I paid $2.50 for an overcooked broken egg. This was all served with what was described as a creamy mushroom sauce, that, apart from the minuscule piece of mushroom in no way tasted..or looked anything like mushroom I've ever seen. So after a 40min wait I then had to share my dinner with flies that constantly landed on my plate. This meal was terrible. Never going there again.

Went to Longhorn Steak &amp; Ale House with a group of 6 people for lunch. We all had beautiful meals. The guys had steak which was beautifully cooked and I had Eggs Benedict which I thoroughly enjoyed.<br/>The staff were warm and friendly and decor is very nicely done out.<br/>The prices are value for money.<br/>We will definately be coming back and I highly recommend this place for brunch, lunch or dinner.

My husband and I both think this is a Wellington City level of restaurant in little ole Upper Hutt - but without the rediculous Wellington prices! Not often do you get reasonably priced, quantity and quality on the same plate! If you've been looking for that perfect steak and a meal where you're not still hungry afterwards, then you really have to try Longhorn! We have 3 regrets - 1) We didn't try this place sooner! 2) We wish there was more seating available so we could have special occassions here with our whole family! 3) The garlic prawn fettucine is only on the specials board (sometimes) and not on the main menu - how often do you have so much creamy sauce left in your plate that you can even soak it up with your fries!

Went for dinner here last Monday 22nd Dec. 2 for the price of 1 Was awesome. Steak well cooked as requested, Service great, Potato Gratin delicious, veggies yum. Truly value for money and highly recommended. Awesome dinning experience

Food is good, Garlic bread was a bit strange and didn't have a good range of sauce for the steak, most quite yucky actually. <br/>I personally like a cracked pepper sauce which is the most common steak sauce but they don't have it, I find this quite strange.

I have been here a couple of times with a big group and both times have been awesome!<br/>The food, service and waitresses were amazing. <br/>My chicken was cooked to perfection and everybody thoroughly enjoyed there meals. <br/>Some people just need to lighten up!

We had dinner here a few weeks ago. It was our first visit and we were impressed by the atmosphere, service and food. The young waitress was enthusiastic and attentive, and when I sent my steak back because it was a little rare for my liking (I had asked for medium rare and it was raw in the centre), it was returned a few moments later perfectly cooked. We both had fillet steak and they were the biggest I have seen! The potato gratin was yummy, very garlicky just how we like it, and the veg was just tender, not hard the way it often is in restaurants. We will definitely eat here again.

Four of us went here on Wednesday for lunch. It was great. I had steak which was perfectly cooked and chips were perfect. One of the other girls had fish which was massive but had light batter and was also great. Another one of the girls had corn fritters with bacon which she said were very nice, not heavy and gluggy like they are sometimes. Drinks and food were quick. Staff were friendly. Fire was on. What more do you want? Very enjoyable dining.

I went here today for Mother's Day and wasn't impressed whatsoever and the only two good things were the staff were friendly enough and the chips were nice (though half cold) but other then that the rest was horrible.<br/><br/>The food arrived cold, there was no salt and pepper on our table and when I went to ask for some the waitress said that she only had a pepper shaker and that if I wanted salt I should go look for one one a table, I had to wait at least half an hour just to get the drinks and then they came about 30 seconds before the meal when they were meant to be 'starters'. Then the menu was terrible, we had the brunch menu (which was basically several egg dishes with just pancakes or French toast) and steak, egg and chips which was a let down, when I rang up for a booking they didn't actually state that they were just going to have that they sounded like it was that as well as he normal menu which was, of course, false and my pineapple juice tasted like it was watered down.<br/><br/>The whole experience just wasn't a nice one for us and even looking over the normal menu there wasn't much to pick from that sounded nice anyway so, needless to say, unless you just want to go there for a drink and maybe a meal that isn't all that fantastic, then that's your place to go but I won't be back.

This is under new management, the owners own the bar across the road.<br/><br/>The venue is clean and tidy some of the staff are young (family I think) and are still learning but service is Ok and friendly.<br/><br/>Menu is limiting but you are here for a good steak and that's what you will get 250 grams of what ever you want and cooked the way you want it.<br/><br/>This is a good place to have a quick meal or take your family to nothing flash here you you get what you pay for and it's worth every penny.

I had heard good things about the food at this new Steakhouse which occupies a venue that has been through almost constant restaurant and bar changes over the past few years.<br/><br/>The menu was slightly confusing - no entrees listed and none appearing on the blackboard either. The wait staff gave a verbal rundown of what was available and we ordered garlic bread to start.<br/><br/>The wait staff were inexperienced with no knowledge of the vegetable selection.<br/><br/>The steak selection was downgraded as not all the items were in stock.<br/><br/>The garlic bread arrived after a 20 minute wait at almost the same time as our mains.<br/><br/>The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare, but for eye fillet had a reasonable amount of sinew and silvering which made it a little tough. It was also overseasoned on the pepper side which made it less enjoyable for a no-pepper-please diner. The vegetables were hot, perfectly cooked and delicious.<br/><br/>The shrimp salad was crunchy fresh with a good selection of salad vegetables and a generous portion of shrimp. It was let down however by being so underdressed that it was dry. The shrimp - which had been well seasoned/marinated in a chilli garlic mix was well cooked, but also dry to my taste. A good drizzle of oil could have saved this dish.
