Review Corner Bakery - Upper Hutt

My partner and I stopped here after a hike, and were flabbergasted by how good everything was! We shared an Irish Stout pie, a pumpkin pork pie, and a slice of chocolate cherry cake. We’ve been sampling pies all around the North Island and the pies we had here were our favorite by far! The crust was buttery and flakey and the fillings were perfectly seasoned. The chocolate cherry cake was also super yummy. I’m not certain, but it tasted like the cherries were soaked in a liqueur. The ganache was chef’s kiss! The woman who checked us out was kind and we appreciated that there was an option to sit outside. Altogether, we spent about ~$18. If we could, we’d absolutely come back again! My absolute favourite bread! I buy at least one loaf a week and always look forward to it :) other bakery goods are awesome too. Definitely recommend their bread tho. It's way better than any other bakery I've found so far. Has a very delicious home made vibe to it. Staff are always lovely too.

These pies are the real deal!!! Some of the best I've ever tasted. Made fresh each day, the pastry is a perfect balance of buttery lightness yet substantial. There are many beautiful, tasty fillings to suit everyone, my favourite is pork and pumpkin. Well worth the trip. Highly recommended, a must for all pie lovers. This place will win national competitions for sure.

I have heard amazing things about the pies so my husband and I went in today. I got the spicy pumpkin pork, and he got the steak and blue cheese. They were both amazing!! The service was wonderful! We will definitely be back

Got a lamb curry pie and oh boy this was an experience. I'm not usually a big pie person, but these pies... If you are looking for a slice of heaven bought down and served with a smile, well look no further. Filled to the brim, yet somehow not messy? pastry was soft while still being fluffy and crunchy? what is this magical delight? 10/10 would buy again.

We bought 6 pies and they were all beautifully made… crispy golden pastry, generously packed with meat and yummy flavours like caramelised onion, beef and mushroom and mince and cheese. Lovely service too

The pies here are so good I suggested they enter a competition. “I just want to see every customer happy, that’s my competition” said the lady. How do you argue with that? You don’t. Just come here and feel happy

The pies were in my top 5 of best pies I've ever had. We tried the chicken, leek and bacon and caramelized onion and beef and they were amazing.

An upmarket bakery with excellent pastries and deserts. This bakery has huge competition in Upper Hutt, but has chosen to bake top quality food with fair prices and large portions. The family owners are wonderful and friendly

Great little bakery, the pies are some of the best in Wellington, especially the Irish Steak Stout pie and the Lamb Curry Pie. Desserts are also great. Everything has a homemade feel and the owners are really friendly.

Little unassuming gem in central Upper Hutt. Friendly service offering a wide variety of very tasty pies, sandwiches, pastries & European style breads. Well worth a visit.

Found this place by accident when trying one of the cool as drink challenges in Upper Hutt. Wow! What a find! We got a lemon meringue tart (it was better than the ones I had in France, perfectly made base, filling was perfection); We also got an apple cinnamon bun (light and fluffy, caramelized apple was amazing); We also tried a beef pie - pastry was divine, beautifully flavorsome dense filling. We are going on a picnic tomorrow and have decided to drop in here on the way! It's that good people.

Great bread, best pies for miles and their selection of sweet pastries etc are expertly crafted. Pay the money for the pies, it’s not too much because they are full of perfectly cooked meats and veggies. The Beef and Blue Cheese Pie has a perfect beef to cheese balance, plus the pastry is on point (but that goes for all their pies).

The pies here are amazing. The quality of the ingredients is high and the flavour is great. The pies are chunky and loaded. You pay a little bit more but what you get is worth it. Unlike other pies locally, these are not swimming in gravy, quite the opposite really and packed with enough solid ingredients to make these pies a meal. Do yourself a favour and give these a go.

Best pies around, really nice dry pealable pastry not greasy, not just a gravy with the beef pies more like a rich dark demi glaze. Irish stout, beef and blue cheese, beef and mushroom etc. The BANOFFIE pie deserves capitals, it has an exquisite crunchy short crust base with thin layer of a dense toffee caramel, sliced banana topped with whipped cream, nuts and some chocolate. It is balanced perfectly for BANOFFIE not too sweet and easy to eat. Qin and Po are excellent highly recommend.

Absolutely gorgeous pies. With quality fillings. Makes his own pastry fresh. Breads are just as stunning crispy on the outside and soft and smooth on the inside. The owners are very welcoming, one of a kind really. We'll be trying the fried rice with crispy pork belly today. I'll be sure to report back 🙂😉
