I like this cafe and always gravitate to it when I am in Waikanae. I love their steak and mushroom pies and great coffee. Reasonable and always get good service. Nice Kiwi cafe
I purchased a chocolate cake for a friend’s birthday party late November…. It was absolutely amazing and everyone commented how delicious it was. So thank you so much ☺️

I'm usually in once or twice a week to Joe and Joy, not only because the food is super yummy the staff are also a big drawcard, they are superb. The last few times the lovely Pia has served me. she's always bright and cheery, has a wonderful smile to welcome you, has a great little chat with each customer and remembers you and your orders or what your last chat was about. I always leave Joe &Joy with a smile on my face and it has nothing to do with the calories I'm about to consume and everything to do with Pia and their other wonderful staff. The calories however are well worth it, whether it has been something savoury or sweet to take home, eat in or catering I have never been disappointed with anything I have had from here, the staff are just the icing on the cake!

This morning's kai comes courtesy of #joeandjoy café in Waikanae.
It's been a while since I was last here, in the middle of COVID-19 NZ, but not much has changed. Still excellent service, scrumptious kai, and great kāwhe.
The kai in the front cabinet looked so ka pai, I just gained kg's looking, haha.
Atmosphere was lovely, relaxing, hum of chatter, kāwhe cups clinking, kāwhe being made, beautiful smell of fresh parāoa and baking.
Really enjoyed returning to enjoy the kai and kāwhe again. Top place, top service, best kai and kāwhe.

First time visit. Daughter recommended the place (she's a local, I'm not). Wasn't disappointed. Food was delicious (so much deliciousness to choose from), and coffee was excellent 👌. Staff were pleasant & polite. Well, it's worth visiting if you haven't. I'll definitely be going back ...
Really great food, there's always a selection of naughty treats and it's reasonably priced too. But the best thing is the pies - they are awesome! The pastry is perfect - lots of different varieties but a good old mince pie is hard to beat. Good coffee and plenty of tables for Waikanae, sitting out in the sun on a fine day eating a pie with a coffee is pretty good 👍
Young, enthusiastic and kind staff. The eatery is well maintained, modern, trendy and clean. The colour selection of the walls is calming and I advise waiting if there are no tables. Tables come quickly available. The food and drinks are served quickly and the meals are very delicious and there is a variety of dishes on the menu to choose from. My large latte and lunch was very satisfying and we enjoyed having lunch here as a family. Thank you!

Thank you for the amazing birthday cake. The most delicious cake I have tasted. Great service even when things get mixed up. Customer service is commendable. A big thank you to the Asst/Manager. Can not recommend highly enough. You went that extra mile.
I love this little cafe. I am visiting from USA and came across this little gem and have spent most days popping in for breakfast, their coffees and meat pies. The service is always fast and the ladies are so friendly. So not miss this little place!
This is quite rightly a very popular cafe. Lovely food. However when I asked for a pot of water with my tea I was brought the tiniest egg cup sized container for hot water which was disconcerting!! It would be good to see a pot of boiling water with the tea as standard fare.
We bought toffee biscuits to bring home. Delicious!
We also bought a pepper steak pie for dinner with mushrooms and stout. Sadly the pepper was competely over the top and we couldn't taste the meat, stout, mushrooms or, for that matter, the accompanying vegetables.
Having said this the cafe is really lovely and the cakes etc were delicious as I expect others we didn't try would be.
Came for the hot chocolate competition entry which is the hot chocolate inside a donut. What isn’t there not to love.
We had hamburgers and chips there today and it was AMAZING!! The chips were crunchy thick cuts, best we've ever eaten and the burgers were juicy and tasty. Will definitely be eating there again
