Review Golden Nest Takeaway - Waikanae

Best fish and chips I have had in forever, the chips were perfectly cooked and the potato fritter was amazing 🤩 I would eat it again in a heartbeat. The customer service here is top notch and depending on the time of the day it doesn’t get that busy at all so you won’t be waiting too long for your food. The staff are so respectful as well they make your food with care and they make it tasty as well so that’s great I recommend this place over any other fish and chip shop in Paraparaumu or Waikanae

Picked up an order half an hour before closing. Women and male owners very friendly, even gave me some smorgasbord freebies and half price containers due to closing! Loved the fish and chips and very good portion! The fish is fresh and omg the Battered patty is a must try! It's a homemade patty and thick for your buck. 5 stars!

Our new go-to for fish & chips. The order was done perfectly, and everything was the right amount of crispy (very excellent chips). Also the young lady at the counter was really professional, helpful, and friendly. We will be back :)

The large fish fillet was great. Sweet and sour from the smorgasbord was yummy as. The best ive had in a long time The wantons were terrible. Hardly any meat, only about quarter of a teaspoon, and too much crunchy outside.

They could do better with portion sizes especially for the cost .. I know everything is more expensive right now but I do know that takeaways have a huge markup as well ...

Best Fish and Chips I’ve had in a long time. The chips are especially good. I’m a Kiwi now living in Canada and this was my first taste of good ole kiwi fish and chips in 5 years! Golden Nest did not disappoint. Better than I remember. Will be my go-to when I’m next back in NZ

Hot chips were nice and crunchy and hotdog to. Chinese smorgasbord was yummy as well. 🙂

The best fish and chips in Waikanae, hands down. The Chinese takeout is divine also! Family favourite for us is the Combination Meat fried rice and Beef and Blackbean. The Egg foo yong is delicious too. Great serving sizes too! Great value for money and consistently great food. Get it in ya!

I got half a scoop of chips which came in a small paperbag so not very much chips. But the chips were really nice, it was just a shame on the quantity.

I was impressed the first takeaway in months the place was clean/tidy The roast Pork chow mein was filling and I still had enough for another meal give them a go. They also do a buffet if you just want to do a fast order.

Very good Chinese food. They have a takeaway menu and Smorgasburg for dine in.

To be fare, I did not try a full on Chinese meal. I had a cheese burger. It was the worst one I have ever had. I was hungry but I still threw it in the bin. The spring roll was awash with oil. Fortunately the potato fritters were edible (just). I was already home when I ate/trashed the food otherwise I would have returned it. I would bypass this place and settle for a day old pie from the gas station.

Best chips in waikanae, hands down. Our go-to when we want fast, friendly service. Smorgasbord is also top knotch and best of all the pricing is fantistic especially when compared to other fish and chip places in waikanae. Can't beat the golden nest.

Hands down the best takeaway in Waikanae! Definitely a must visit if you are passing through, its a local classic - Ask for big T, he knows his way around the meat
