The most perfect stop on our way to Wellington! Amazing place from the moment we entered - comfy and artsy atmosphere, kind staff and the Christmas decorations were very cool - three trees each decorated in their own unique and quirky style. If only for the atmosphere this place would be worth a visit, but then when the food arrived it was even better. My wife had a delicious chicken salad and I had one of the best rib eye steaks. The sauce it comes with is superb! Absolutely recommend and we will be back!

I was a bit overwhelmed when the plate arrived with a 400° stone to cook my rib eye but I managed and to be honest this is one of the best pieces of meat I ever had! There was some fat as it is one big piece of 250g but it also helped not to overcook it, I could see the fat melting on the stone. Very cool concept.
The red wine sauce was exquisite. The salad with the meat was very tasty.
The dessert seemed a bit expensive (15$ for a pie) but it was good.
The staff was very welcoming!

Thoroughly enjoyed our tea for two. Surprised to be served on beautifully fine cup, saucer, and plate set of English bone china.
A table next to the fire was as warm as toast, kinda handy as it was icy out.
Most delicious tea, selected from a massive range of teas.
Also on the table were real raw sugar in a closed pot, to spoon out with a beautiful teaspoon.
Friendly staff, who always had smiles on their faces, excellent service.
Nice place we had the chance to stop there on our road from Wellington to Gisborne. Real good house cooking, stove warming, comfy atmosfere. Everything we needed to continue the journey.

you can find a very nice, interesting and valuable lunch box, you can DIY to cook the steak and sides by yourself on a heated stone. what a perfect and warm place you can find during the trip to Wellington in a snow day. recommend to try it when you across there.
We were in the Tongariro with cold and wanting to have lunch something tasty and of good quality, searching on google and this place appeared to us with many good reviews, we decided to come and meet it despite the distance and without a doubt it was worth it, people attending with a smile, tasty and colorful dishes and a very good price. If you feel like eating at home, this place is for you!
Wowee! Delicious, well presented food at a great price. The service was great. The decor is cosy with the fire going on a chilly day. They also have great crafts for sale! I highly recommend this hidden treasure, I know we will definitely call in again as we pass through.

Wow this is actually a fantastic little part of the world. Absolutely fantastic service and food quality with the young lady serving holding the Kiwi Flag of service proud. while sitting to eat, you could hear all of the serving staff actually engaging with the customers and even coming to make sure all was well. Proud and humbled to have had the pleasure of eating here. Well Done guys.
Cleanest facilities I have been in. Fire was welcomed. Lots of things to look at throughout. Bought a couple of lamps and local crafts from the pop up shop. Well worth a stop for breakfast or lunch. Meals reasonably priced and good value.
