Review Nando’s - Wairau Valley

Just wish they could do reservations (they don't do them, unfortunately) as we had to come a bit earlier than planned to get enough seats for our invitees. Good customer service from patient staff as I had made multiple orders on behalf of family and family friends for a birthday dinner. Quick service and good food. Wish they had hot drinks as my father wanted some but I guess the food is hot enough, aye? 😄 Otherwise, a good night. Thank you~!! ☺

We stopped by for a late lunch and was surprised it was still kinda busy. But service was really quick. 5 minutes was all it took for our meal to arrive The chicken was really well cooked and the peri peri chips was crispy. Overall liked eating at this nando store

Food arrived so fast. The restaurant is very well kept with the tables kept clean and the self service well stocked with cutlery, sauces etc. kids thought the chips were 10/10! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

These guys were super busy with Uber eats orders. The guy behind the pass working in the kitchen was super helpful even though he was super busy. Our order took a while to come out as they were busy with uber eats orders but overall it was a good experience. We might not be in for dine in but will definitely go for uber eats

Great service from the lady at the counter, very fast and friendly. The whole chicken, bbq wings and chips were great. The burger was a letdown as they now seem to use ciabatta buns which seemed stale and really tough, couldn’t actually bite through it which was a shame. Bring back normal burger buns!

I love a good Nandos feed. Was here for lunch restraunt was tidy, not too crowded and food came out fast. The chicken thighs i ordered were super juicy as per my expectations.

Got the whole chicken and a bowl of spicy rice to share with my partner. Nando's never disappoints. It was empty when we got there at around 1.30pm. The interior was also nicely decorated.

Decided to do the healthy meal and have chicken tenders and salad . For $15 you get 3 chicken tenders and a salad .The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars were the fact they never told us about the cutlery or sauces which we had t collect from the middle of the store .If i was a new client I would not have known about this. This store was clean and tidy . I did enjoy the meal as it was a healthy one and it filled me .I do think they should invest in healthy juices not the tiny bottles way overpriced at 4.90. All and all a good experience if you can get a parking close by .

Chicken is always yum with spicy rice and the portuguese egg tart.. hits the spot. The staff are nice and friendly and the sevice is great and the price is reasonable

I love their food, a bit expensive but good quality.

Finger licking deliciousness after a gym session. The chicken kebab was fresh and tender with BBQ sauce. Can't go wrong with periperi chips and the corn is a must! They were so juicy packed with smokiness! The classics chicken with hot spice was perfect.

food is good but the service is horrific but like I do go sometimes cause the food is good.my favorite item is the wing and period period fries

This is my favourite place for eating flame grilled peri peri chicken. We must have ordered from here more than 100 times or so during past several years. We mostly go for the whole chicken half and half (mild and lemon and herb). Can never go wrong with that. Spicy rice is also yum as a good solid side. Have tried different types of mains through out the years but whole chicken is the best and most cost effective. :)

If you’re craving for grilled Chicken BBQ,Nandos would be the best place to go to. Love their Peri peri Chips, Spicy Rice and Coleslaw. Their grilled chicken liver is also a must try if you’re a little adventurous. Love that you can control the spicyness of your chicken with their choices of different sauces. Buy the Peri peri Salt. We always have one at home to put on chips/chicken.

We ordered the platter and it was delicious and quickly served. Good customer service. The only downside about Nandos is the prices of their food and drinks -a bit too expensive. But, overall, we enjoyed our meal and had a great time at Nandos.

Food is great but there is a lady who’s always in rush and rude when taking order at the counter. Not very professional at all. We still go because food is still nice

We phoned and ordered 10 minutes ahead. When we arrived, our food was ready immediately.
One whole chicken, salad, fries and chicken livers...$50.
Livers ok, whole chicken....the box was swimming in moisture, soggy fries and a salad that had onions chopped the size of doorsteps.
I'd been here years ago when it was a tired, plastic restaurant. Things have looked up. No longer does it looked so tired but it's more inviting. Latin American music pumping out of the speakers makes you want to dance.
Service was very friendly. Sadly the hummus with peri peri drizzle wasn't available.
Partner had the standard burger which he enjoyed. I had the chicken skewer with capsicum and onions with the sweet corn. I would have liked some peri peri salt which the server was going to fetch but forgot.
Overall nandos have certainly rebranded and you can tell.

Good fast service and great tasting chicken and chips.

Ordered the full chicken and side for $30 and it came out well basted and moist. Chips were super hot crunchy and perfectly seasoned.

One of the better Nandos for sure.

If you love chicken, this place is amazing and great. They have different kinds of sauces that matches your spice cravings. I loved their salad that comes with grilled chicken.

Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered 1/2 chicken and peri peri chips. Yummy! Chicken was fresh, juicy and actually made to order. Much different to other nando’s branches.

I have been a Nando's fan for very long time recently I have been visiting the Wairau Valley branch quite often as it is conveniently located near to one of my franchised store.

I am absolutely disgusted with the treatment I have received over the last week or so from the manager at the branch a Mr Gejo Samuel.

Previously on several occasions I have spoken the store manager that my request of extra crispy chips has not been completed even though I have double confirm this over the phone order what the staff member taking the order.

What is the point to give instructions over the phone while making the order if they will simply be disregarded?

I do not believe I am being unreasonable all I am requesting is for the chips to be cooked a bit longer so they can be crispy instead of the soggy style that they are currently producing.

Mr Gejo has made it explicitly clear that I am no longer welcome in that store by using profound language.

Mr Gejo actions clearly reflect on the brand integrity of Nando's New Zealand.

It is simply disgusting to see that your management staff has absolutely no respect towards their customers.

I strongly believe that Mr Gejo Samuel auctions today have proven he is a very rude and condescending person as he simply goes around showing his attitude and patronizing superiority.

This is just not on !!!

Poor customer service, ordered the supreme chicken burger which was so messy that I could hardly manage to eat it. Overload of sauces made the bun so soggy, I usually don't complain about burgers but this one was a disappointment. Gave the feedback to the counter staff who passed the feedback onto the kitchen, within 2 minutes the kitchen staff attends and asks me "what happened" in an annoyed tone. I told him I wanted them to know the burger was soggy and was hardly manageable to eat but nevertheless I will eat it. The guy responds "okay" smiles and leaves, no apology no regrets, we paid $51. This hasn't happened for the first time, last time my mate had the same issue and was treated with a similar experience. I like Nando's but wairau Nando's has never met the customer service standards that other Nando's live up to in Auckland. The only reason we are compelled to go here is because of its proximity to our residence but will never visit again, would rather go Albany or to the city.

Worst service. Pls do not go to wairau road nandos as u will be very disappointed even after spending $20 per meal. We went for dinner at 8:30 pm. Their closing time is 9:30 for friday. After we received our food, staff member started coming to our table every 5 minutes and taking all sauce bottles from table. We just started our meal and within 5 minutes they started closing the shop. Staff members were making us very uncomfortable and were trying to send us out soonest possible. Our meal was totally uncooked. We had to leave our meal in middle as staff members started cleaning and moping under our table at 9:15 where as closing time was 9:30. Please do not take your friends or your guests at this restaurant as you won't get good service at all.

16.12.16 Ill keep it short
There is always a reason, when the place is empty during lunch, while cafe next door is pumping.
Anyways, decided to give it a shot and ordered a chicken garden salad plus my fiancee J ordered chix paella.
Service was subpar, due to the fact that food was brought out quickly by a manager/chef/cashier, however paella suddenly obtained flavor when J added peri peri sauce, that you help yourself to. I would really call it green mccain bean paella wih traces of chicken. My salad consisted of the toughest chicken I have had in a long time(no s%&t) 4 unpipped Kalamata olives 2 slices of Spanish onion, 2 slices of cucumber and 2 cherry tomatoes (symmetrical stynginess), plenty of green leaf lettuce though with 2 packets of balsamic dressing on the side.
L&P and LLB drinks were cold
I guess I cant expect much from a casual restaurant.

Food: Cooked deliciously. Maybe a bit burnt in some areas, but lets be honest I don't think I ever had nandos that isnt burnt.

Environment: Pleasant environment, modern and nice seating areas.

Service: Friendly staff members.

Overall, pleasant nandos dining experience. Would definitely return.

I have today 07/10/2016 made a telephone order to pick up @ Nandos Wairau Road, Glenfield. Spoke to Sri & reconfirmed my order for : 1 Classic Veg Burger Mild, 3 Classic Veg Burger Hot , 1 regular Cob & 2 Peri Peri Chips

& Guess what :( 1 was a chicken classic burger so apparently this was a slip of the finger issue when entering on computer > come on Nandos Glenfield after asking u to repeat the order from a previous experience u do it again. last 2 times i let it pass but Boy this time u PISSED my off .

your free chips & adjusting the order & having it delivered doesn't make up this mistake by a vegetarian

Really Really hope this doesn't happen again

Rusha Singh

The chicken with the mild sauce tastes like heaven. It's neither too hot to bother you, not too mild to make you disappointed. I really like to go there from time to time. A whole chicken is really enough for two people. It's literally half of a chicken. Wings could be a great addition.

Family fiesta is value for money $34.90 - you get one whole chicken with two large sides. We like Nandos because its tasty and grill rather than fried, the chicken is marinated in flavourful hot peri-peri sauce. We always call to pick-up as they can be quiet busy.

So time and time again myself and finance always dine in at the Nandos restaurant in Mt. Eden where the customer service is great there's not along wait and the chicken is always to a great standard.

About 2 weeks ago we dined at the North Shore Nandos and were appalled at the hygiene and lack of customer service.

Firstly the lady was rude and sighing while we were trying to decide on what to order, secondly my partner went toliet and said his shoes were sticking to the floor and thirdly a worker that was dressed in a different top then everyone else was standing in front of the grill "digging for gold"( picking his nose) which we thought was so disgusting. Then straight after came and served our meals to our table. I could only eat half of my meal because it was just gross to think about.

Really sucks because nandos chicken is the BEST CHICKEN but will definitely not be dining at this one.

Dined here for dinner tonight with my partner, we didn't feel like cooking but didn't feel like going anywhere fancy & Nandos was a perfect casual place to dine in. The decor in this branch looks awesome & is a lovely environment to dine in. I had the chicken tenderloins & coleslaw which I thoroughly enjoyed. My partner had hot wings & a quarter chicken combo, he also enjoyed his food. I like that they have a station where you can choose from a selection of sauces & I like that they offer a variety of different spice levels for the chicken. A little pricey for what it is but I did enjoy it so I will likely return
A Tale Of Two Tummies
Food ordered:
Family Feast
1x 600ml Sprite

Bill: $48.40

Big tummy: Considering this is supposed to be one of the "new and improved" Nando's stores, we figured we'd try it out and see if there were any noticeable differences. All in all, I'd say our experience was a case of "the good, the meh and the ugly". Firstly, the good - the new decor is a welcome addition, with a more modern set-up including brand new circular booths and even a sink/soap to wash your hands. On to the "meh" - the food is exactly the same. Don't get your hopes up expecting any exciting new dishes or sauces or anything. When Nando's revamped their restaurants, their menu must've been left off the agenda, cause everything is still the exact same. I can't quite work out whether that's a good or bad thing - it's just that usually when a restaurant is looking to revamp their image, their menu is the first thing that gets a haul over. Maybe the suits at Nando's think their diners prioritise their decor over their menu? Who knows. And now on to the ugly. The service - or lack there of. I was standing at the counter for just over 5 minutes before anybody greeted or served me. You can see the staff in the kitchen from the counter at this store and I could see one staff member just standing in the kitchen talking to his colleague. He even looked up, saw me standing there... and then just moved out of my range of vision. When I was eventually served, I then had the cashier proceed to try and talk me out of buying an item (the Portuguese bread rolls) off their menu. I can't say I've ever had that happen before in a restaurant... your own staff member advising me not to buy off the menu. I noticed a review below encountered a similar poor experience, so it looks that while the decor might've undergone a slight improvement, there has been a huge fall in the standards of service. It might pay to avoid the "revamped" stores and just stick with the ol' tried and tested branches.

Little tummy: We tried out this "new" Nando's store with somewhat high expectations. I mean, Nando's was already pretty darn amazing, so "new and improved"? Heck yeah, we'll give that a try! Sadly, our experience was just a big plate of nope with some disappointment sauce on the side. Sure - the food is still your typical Nando's. No changes there. But the service was seriously bad!!! Long waits just to be served (with nobody in front of us in the queue) and some really strange service (the guy tried to talk us out of buying the bread rolls, asking us if we've "tried them before" and whether we're "sure we still want them"). Even the bottles of sauce were a disappointment - there wasn't a 'mild' bottle of peri-peri sauce in sight, at the utensil station or on any of the tables. You either had tomato sauce or went straight to medium. Not a good experience for a "new and improved" restaurant.

Our 3rd trip to this newly decorated revamped Nandos store - sunday 17 jan 2016. We walked in at 6.10pm and we were 3rd in the queue. Our orders were taken and was told we would have to wait between 10-15mins. That was fine with us. We set at a table which was not tided up and watched a steady flow of customers through the door. 2 groups after us had all their meals served. Patiently waited till 6.40pm, another table got served. We went up to the counter and was told the order was mixed up and forgotten. We were served finally at 6.50pm. Our order includes 2 peri peri chips...one of the bowl came with plain chips. It was fixed with a dash of peri peri spice mixed and when we bite into it, the chips were cold!...... and one of the chips was literally frozen! I had to ask the staff to hold the frozen chip as he does not seem to get what I was trying to tell him.

C'mon Nandos...please get your act together...we thought with this new franchise , new look and a change of concept, your service would be much better than your past predecessors. Needless to say we did not even get an apology.....

Maggie and Family

Came here after work one night. The decor and set out was quite bright and different to typical Nandos joints.
The interiors were kept clean and tidy.
I ordered my usual Paella extra hot but what I got was a milder spice. Fine with me as I normally top up with extra hot sauce anyway.
The portions were huge though. The best portion I have gotten from any Nandos joint. The veges were cooked to the right amount, not soggy and overcooked like many joints. They seemed to have put more veges in as well.
What brought this review down a little was the lack of service. The staff were really polite and friendly- when they talk to you. But the problem was, they all stayed in the kitchen talking to each other and would only come out when called to attend to a customer. There was about 3 other people in the restaurant and the fact that no staff were around made the place feel abandoned and quiet. I would suggest staying in the front of the house more and that should be good enough as your service is already polite and friendly.

Delicious chicken meals. The ribs are the best. This branch takes quite long for the food to come up which is a bit annoying. Other than that, the restaurant layout is really nice

Very good service and the food is lovely. Well portioned and cooked right. I have nandos atleast once a month and i will be coming back again. There's just one problem, i do think staffs are favoring customers. This i'm saying is because ive seen another person ordering the same thing as me but getting smaller portions. I know that's kind of you but favoring people as a business is not a good quality

So adding on to a previous review... very ironic but The last time I said the staff provided me a large portion while another person, a smaller portion but this time it’s different altogether. I love nandos paella and have tried to make it my self with little success. I have been buying paella for so many months and I remember when I used to get it before, the box came packed which I felt was worth for $13 a serve. Now I feel robbed because that very box comes almost an inch empty. I mean at least decrease the price if you’re not gonna give the right amount.

Nandos chicken is one of the best on the world and trust me when I say that as I've had chicken in the Middle East and India. Amazing tenderness and the sauces are bloody amazing.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. We paid using voucher beforehand to which the cashier/chef/waiter who was very rude to us. we then received much smaller portions to what I would normally get if i hadn't paid by voucher. Very disappointing. My main meal of quarter chicken combo was so pitiful that we ordered pizza from next doors pizza hut directly after because we were still hungry
