Cafe 287 - Wairoa - Photo album

Good location; great views. Very friendly staff with good coffee. Food lacks imagination but still good.
Nice views. Quite a large, rather basic menu, but the food is fresh and tasty. There is a good food counter. The caramel slice was amazing. Good access (steps and ramp). We felt it was slightly overpriced. The service was pleasant.
They appeared to be running out of cabinet food at lunch time and did not look like they were replacing it. They were getting confused with the delivery of the previous customers orders and had not settled down before taking ours. Coffee ok and the food available tasty. Great position for a quick st
A good effort in the middle of nowhere. Great coffee, good cabinet food selection and menu options too. Good views from outdoor deck. Excellent parking including big trucks on road and rigid trucks easily up the driveway. Accommodation too although I haven't used it
Very convenient stopover for those travelling north from Napier. Good toilet facilities too along with pleasant outlook over Wairoa river. In season can get whitebait fritters to eat. Prefer pastries oven warmed not microwaved so ask. Is licensed for liquor. Worth a break from driving.
They make the biggest and best Toasted sandwiches you will ever have the pleasure of eating.
What a neat place..Dont fly past. Call in for a coffee.Comfortable cafe, clean bathrooms. Good tasty food.Prices ok..good value for money. One if my favourite cafes. Always call in when travelling to Gisborne..Just try it!! Enjoy ..
Of the beaten track cafe 287 thought we would support the locals. Unfortunately we arrived close to closing time, and were rushed to order, eat and leave. 2pm closing time I had the bacon and egg pie which was beautiful, pity on being rushed out.
Had the most fabulous time with 4 other friends over the weekend. Stayed in Jenny and Steve's accommodation on site. Jenny and Steve were fabulous hosts and the food was amazing!!!.
Good food at honest prices; friendly & helpful service; clean & comfortable accommodation; excellent view from the deck; great chickens. It's not The Ritz, but it's all the better for that.
Great stopped for a break on way home. And having admired the variegated Bogonvillia. Was offered a cutting will look good in my garden. Thanks 2ate7!!
We stopped for coffee, the food looked good and it tasted as good a it looked, I would go past without a stop. The staff were as good as the food, perfect.
Lovely food and hospitality. A welcome break on a long trip. The free range chooks were fun to watch!
