Review Tony's Restaurant & Bar - Waitakere City

The lamb shank was perfect, fillet mignon and desserts were delicious. Excellent food and service at Tony's. We've dined here multiple times and have always enjoyed it.

Dinner for two at Tony's tonight. Have to recommend the Mexicana Fillet and Fillet Mignon under the Premium Steaks section of the menu...so well cooked and extremely yummy! Excellent service too by the waiter and waitresses - thumbs up for them for making us feel so welcoming!! Hopefully will come back again 🙂

We were back for dinner recently. It was a good family restaurant. Spacious and pleasant. Service was normal. This time we opted for the set menu. The food was tasty and the portion was reasonable. We enjoyed the meal. If you are looking for a good Western meal, you should try this restaurant.
Kaon Rafferty
Great tasting food & service, the staff were very friendly and professional, seated us as soon as we walked in, and after ordering, our drinks & food came out very quickly. Was quite impressed. Presentation was excellent & the dessert was top notch. Many thanks to the Tony's team for being fantastic. One of the best restaurants out west Auckland to dine at. Definitely try it if you're in the area.

Didn't think I would end up at a restaurant this afternoon but I did and man was that some of the best food I've had in a while. Loved everything I got but next time I am getting that banoffee pie for desert. Overall I loved it here will be back again hopefully soon đŸ™‚đŸ‘đŸŸ

Had a wonderful dinner last night, food was delicious and the staff were lovely, we had the $44, set menu ... no one could eat everything so now have a yummy lunch to take to work

The last time we came here was a little disappointing.. But this visit was excellent! The service and food were outstanding. Staff were very attentive, great food that was delivered hot and in a good timely manner. Really enjoyed our finitely dining experience here tonight. Support your local! .
Celia Wilson
Bread and dips a little disappointing but the scotch fillet with chips and mushroom sauce was absolutely fantastic. Perfectly coked and seasoned. Served with nice seasonal well dressed salad. Also have great drink options for big kids like me (traffic light, coke spider as well as all the usual suspects). Dessert also pretty good. Would highly recommend, looking forward to going again

Lovely staff, amazing food! I had fish of the day with cauliflower cheese, carrots and crispy potato bake and hollandaise sauce, it was perfect. Hubbys steak was cooked perfectly. We shared a slice of banoffi pie which was exquisite.
Arran Hunt
Very impressed with the fresh tasty food and a very good price. Little to complain about (except that maybe the takeaway containers were cardboard rather than plastic).
Rob Tai
The Hostess was pleasant and our Waitress exuded a dire need to cater to us and I'm grateful but both their behaviours seemed almost patronizing. My meal (Fish n Chips), although nice to eat and presented well, was not value for money. Other more up-market restaurants give bigger prece of fish for less than what i was charged so wasn't happy with that. Also slice of banoffee pie for $14 (all Desserts same peice) was not value for money with. Would have been cheaper to buy the whole pie rather than per slice.

The service was quick and the 3 course meal combo is exceptional !very generous on their servings and staff were very hospitable and delivered everyone's meals in decent time and together with the big numbers we had! Also great that they have areas for when you book. Highly recommend the pork belly!👌

Delicious meals, wonderful atmosphere, friendly Staff, all-round excellent evening

Lamb shank with mash was totally bland. I got a small bone in it aswell. The whole dish taste very cardboard like. :(

The best food here great if you have a appetite! The steak was perfect and well worth the price. Generous portions great place to dine in. I will be back !<br/>

Use to be good but as of late not that great at all. Place looks dated as well.
Zelda Beckett
Lovely food, very dated, decor needs attention and staff need abit more training. Steak was very tender. Not sure if I would return.
Lynette Lewis
The steak was uncooked with blood spilling out. Garlic bread was dry. The mashed potato was dry and tasteless. Wrong sauce given<br/>Bad customer service. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant
Nae
Used Zomato gold deal for dinner which made it pretty worth it
Ian Passtoors
It was ok, not bad but not that great.
Chadwick Wang
I'd probably give it a zero if i could. We came in 5:30ish with the place barely occupied, but we were guided to a table at one of the dimmest corner of the room. Prior to serving the dishes the waitress said the light sauce cannot go with one of our steaks. We accepted it but it turned out the steak they swapped the sauce with was so over cooked it literally tasted like charcoal. Offered an apology but very disappointed overall. Worst dining experience of my life.
Mackenzie Williams
Outstanding tasting food and generous portions for a very good price. 10/10 will be back again!! We had a large group of about 15 people and all of our entrees mains and desserts came out at the same time with barely any wait time! Super fast and great customer service, kind staff and lovely home feel atmosphere:-)

Came here on Zomato Gold. I ordered dino steak medium (scotch on the bone), wife had pork ribs. The steak was way underdone so we had it cooked a little more and it came back perfect with fresh sides and sauce. Not a big deal at all. They gave us a free dessert though. Later I went to an expensive steakhouse and paid way more for a smaller and less delicious steak. Definitely coming back to Tony’s. I still fantasise about that steak and mushroom sauce.

Came in today for brunch. Got the ribs, wedges, and halloumi salad. Portion sizes were huge. We were extremely full by the end but the meal was delicious. Ribs were charred perfectly, flavour was definitely there. Halloumi salad sauce was really appetising, sour level was perfect. They were quite generous with the amount of halloumi slices served. <br/>Wedges were also seasoned very well.<br/>Atmosphere was nice and romantic (at night time).<br/>Word of advice: Zomato gold does not work on the breakfast/lunch menu.
Shannon Reid
I have been coming to Tony’s for years and love the 3 corse menu. Have been 3 times this year and every time was disappointing I doubt I’ll be back again. Ribs are now charred to the point they’re actually inedible. I always get pork belly and it was always delicious but now it’s dry and chewy and it seems to be luck weather you get crispy crackle or not. My friends have the same opinion too. Before we go now we’re always saying “I hope it’s not yuck tonight” Banoffee is still amazing though as is the service.

Busy Saturday and waited for while, but the food and vibes is all worthy.<br/><br/>Very nice and friendly staff, and patient despite they’re super busy. <br/><br/>Steak is perfect grilled with delicious source. Lamb shank is soft tender and the sauce is perfect go. <br/><br/>Definitely recommend
Coco Baangz
Great atmosphere, amazing food, staff are super friendly and very professional, Everytime I come here I am never disappointed and neither are the people I come with. Thanks so much guys!
Rangi
Ordered ribs lamb shank and dino steak. Thought I'd try it out but was very disappointed. My ribs were cold, the shank was ok but the sauce was terrible. My steak was cooked perfectly but again the mushroom sauce was terrible. It tasted and looked like canned mushroom soup with a little corn flour for thickener. Not impressed especially considering what the asking price for mains are.
Shane Naera
Totally enjoyed my first experience at Tony's Restaurant & bar,the food was delicious and the service was 10 out of 10. Our server always made sure we were comfortable and happy with our meals, he was always there if we needed anything.

I came here with my partner for our date night. 💞 <br/>Booking a table over the phone was a breeze. <br/>Customer service is great! We had a lovely young girl that tended to us. She was very professional and looked after us and answered all our questions. <br/>Then the food! The food was the best! No complaints whatsoever! I ordered the ribs for my entree and they gave me a finger dipping bowl with water and lemon in it. I thought that was neat seeing as I’ve never been given one before. Drinks menu was awesome. <br/><br/>My overall rating is a 5. This is a very good place to dine. Clean, Affordable, Delicious! What more can you ask for? Thanks Tony’s Restaurant. Will deffs be back again
Michael Teoh
First time visiting, and totally impressed by the service of the staff (to marks) as well as the food. Ribeye steak grilled to taste, no complaints there. The banana chicken took a while to be prepared, and the serving is huge for the price. It does taste a little bland, but no complaints either and it is well matched with a banana! Creative!
Justine Kingi
I always enjoy the food but I asked to be moved to another table one evening because of the food mess on the floor. We were moved but there was mess there to. When I asked if they clean the mess I was told not till the end of the night when it closes. I nearly left because food and ambience (clean space around me instead of previous diners food) are important for me

We really enjoyed our meal at Tony's and would definitely return. Service was excellent and the food was tasty and arrived promptly. There was small mistake with a side (mashed potato instead of chips) this was quickly resolved much to our delight :) This was our first experience of using Zomato 'Gold' the process was quick and easy. Would recommend as a family restaurant.
Mufaddal Ranijiwalla
We ordered scotch fillet and T bone steak and they had absolutely no flavour and scotch fillet had a burned taste.. maybe they grill is not cleaned enough. Service was good but we were hungry to return the food back and wait again. I wound not recommend eating the steak here.
Daisy Wang
So much potential but sadly I found the decor to be dated and unclean. For the prices they offer you could somewhere so much better in the Aucklands CBD!<br/>I’m really disappointed
Jason Jost
Went to Tony’s for a business lunch this week and it was a very mixed bag. <br/>Unfortunately when we were seated the waiter didn’t tell us about all of the dishes that weren’t available on the menu as those were the ones that were first selected by my guest. <br/>I had the steak sandwich with fries and this was a big meal. The food was delicious and there was only a short wait for the food to come out.
Winston Chan
Was just here moments ago. Assisted by staff to seats and was offered drinks straightaway. Ambience was Ok i guess but what turned us off big time was a cockroach on the edge of the table! Waitress apologized and offered us to move to another table but i think that was it for the night. Was the first visit and most likely the last. Will not comment about the food as i probably had lost me appetite. As we left the restaurant, looked back at the door and saw an A-rating! Smh<br/>

We were seated by wait staff, but the older woman behind the bar came and offered exceptional service. We asked for a teaspoon for our toddler to eat his meal and not only did she happily oblige, but she also looked at our toddler sitting on the dining chair and asked if we'd like a booster seat. Really appreciated the suggestion and the lovely service.<br/><br/>We ordered two scotch fillets (perfectly cooked medium rare) with mash & veges and both enjoyed our meals (and the price thanks to Zomato Gold). Don't think I would have tried Tony's if it weren't for them being a gold restaurant, but am pleased I did. The place reminded me of the good old days when there were no flowers or micro greens, or Instagram. We got plates of food - complete meals! And they were decent portions too! I even shared mine with Master 2.<br/><br/>I was excited to see traffic lights & pink panthers on the drinks menu. Cue fond memories of dinner in the 80s at Fisherman's Table<br/><br/>I was tempted to take home a banoffee pie for $25 (bargain!) but was too full to even think of more food. Will definitely pick one up when we return.
Kayla Bosher
Came here for a work dinner - food was surprisingly tasty and staff were very friendly. But this place definitely looses several stars for its cleanliness - the fans above where we were seated were covered in mould which was disgusting I didn’t notice until after I had finished my meal I wouldn’t have eaten there if I had seen them first! This was a few months ago now so hopefully they have since had them cleaned
Dan Ali
The most AMAZING meal we have had in a really long time. We ordered Fillet Mignon(1 each) and banoffee pie. Tasted like heaven. Much recommended. PS no pics because we were too busy gobbling all the yummy food.
Shella T
Great food! They have set menu’s - best value for such delicious food, and they serve great yummy steaks! Excellent customer service, friendly staff! My husband and I would love to come back. We would recommend this place!

We had a dinner party here & were under a 3 course menu. Service was pretty fast considering our large group. Filo pastry & cheescake (entrée & dessert) meals were tasty. For my main, I chose the creamy vege pasta dish. It was very filling- large portion size but I was hoping it would be more cheesy & mushroomy, not just salty.
Shona Gomes
This place was really good and I enjoyed the food, especially the ribs. I also loved the bannofee pie. They made the food really quick and was very tasty

We went there with 2 and used our Zomato Gold there. The service is great, waiter seems very keen and happy to serve us. We ordered two mains, scotch fillet and crumbed scallops, one with vegetable and one with salad. For the price we paid, the portion is great, you can definitely get fed here, the meat and chips are great, but It’s pretty average. The lacking is the vegetables, it’s quite blend and lack of flavours, on the salad there was no dressing as well (just leaves). Overall we enjoyed our time there, and definitely worth for the Zomato Gold users.
Dani
Had the three-course menu and chose the Beef Kofta as the entree, Pork Belly for the main and the Banoffee Pie for dessert. Overall, all the dishes were super tasty and flavoursome, I was definitely satisfied by the end of the night. We had quite a big group but the service was speedy and consistent throughout and waiters/waitresses were friendly, patient and showed great customer service. Would love to come back to try other dishes!

Dinner for two at Tony's tonight as I'd like to take advantage of my Zamato Gold discount. First of all the service we received has been nothing short of excellent. We ordered the Mexicana Fillet and the Fillet Mignon under the Premium Steaks section of the menu and both dishes are super yum! They are both of generous proportion so we've had a big feast tonight as we also ordered some sides and dessert. The only slight downside is the restaurant internal decor which is a little dated and could do with some refurbishment ;-)
Juanita Salaivao
Great value for money and really great service. Meat cooked perfectly my sisters pasta was also amazing and then the dessert was the best way to finish of the night đŸ‘đŸœ

Dined here last Friday with my family. <br/>Ribs were delicious, garlic bread superb! <br/>But the service was quite lacking. <br/><br/>When we arrived we were asked what we were wanting to order, but we hadn’t been seated yet with any menus, but we were told it was booked in for ‘All you can eat ribs’ which most of us ordered. <br/><br/>Asked multiple times for a highchair for my niece, as we didn’t want her running around disturbing other diners, also had a hard time trying to get water to our table! <br/><br/>Not sure if it was an off night and had new staff perhaps? All in all a good meal, just think the service could do with some work! <br/>
Chao
My boyfriend and I took the 3 meal course which is a total bargain for its price. The food is nice but we waited for quite a long time to get our meal which is quite disappointing since the place is not packed yet because we arrived there the moment they opened the restaurant.
Alexandra Legge-Murray
The food is always amazing with lovely waiters/ waitresses aswell. Portion sizes are huge and the wait times are always good even when they're packed.

Came here for the All You Can Eat Ribs, wedges and slaw for $20pp. The first portion is massive with 1kg slab each. I couldn’t go anymore and the rest top up once with another 500gr. I wish they wouldn’t pour so much sauce on the top of it but it tastes quite good but after a while can get overwhelming. Their wedges funnily enough was my highlight. So crunchy and I can’t stop eating them. We also ordered their desserts afterwards at additional costs. Banoffie Pie would satisfy your deserts stomach! They also do three course meals for $39, super value of money! Friendly staff.
Marchella Kusono
The entire meal was incredible. We had cheesesteak sandwich and beef burger, portion was larger than we expected. Friendly and attentive service. This place was never packed during lunch and I still don't understand how. Definitely a hidden gem! We'll be back.
ZaniBani
I’ve dined here a few times and have always left satisfied with my meals.<br/>With every order a serving of their generous sized onion rings are a must!<br/>In saying that I’ve never seen it busy and sometimes close earlier then advertised
Bag Of Gold
staff are absolutely amazing, 10/10! food is delicious! would highly recommend, even if you’re a local looking a bite to eat. will be back again

Poor waitresses, you can hear them getting shouted at in the kitchen from the restaurant !! perhaps just a bad night; it was very busy that night. The waitresses are lovely, you can see they really try hard to keep a bubbly, friendly environment. My husband had the beef burger which was absolutely fantastic, lots of flavor and detail, it comes with fries and onion rings which were also very nice and the way it was presented look great. I had the lamb shank, very tasty and tasted very nice, though the spinach did look a bit sad it wasn't a big deal and still finished the plate. My son had a banoffee cream pie which looked incredible and tasted great. The only big complaint about tonys is how we saw a cockroach scuttling on the floor. Not fantastic seeing it near the entrance of the kitchen, hopefully, it was just one and the place isn't infested!! other than that the interior is a bit outdated and the bathrooms are quite dodgy looking according to my husband who went in the men's room. I would rate 3 or 4 stars however the cockroach and swearing coming from the kitchen was quite concerning.
Darshan Govender
Good food there. I would come back here many times. Nothing is wrong with the interior and exterior, it gives it a western vibe when you enter with all the decor.<br/><br/>

Great service last night, lovely cooked food. Steak was perfection, entrees lovely and desserts brilliantly presented. Well done Chris and team.
Polata'ane Matekitonga
Hi we ordered the filet Mignon, T Bone steak, market fish, and smoked chicken salad and the chocolate fudge cake. Everything was good except for the two steaks were way over seasoned. Nice and quiet as well.
Seamus M.
Got the 3 course meal for $39 was good value for the amount of food which was a bargain. Overall the food was alright but the banoffee pie was the outstanding dish of the night.
Janice McCartain Dagg
My husband took us here for dinner earlier this week. We had the $39 Set Menu 3 Course. Good amount of options. Spacious setting, very comfortable. Eceltic background music that included Fleetwood Mac, Trance, and Pop. Service prompt and friendly. <br/><br/>Entrees were Beef Kofta on Flat Bread with Tzatziki and Spare Ribs. The Beef Kofta was pretty average, the Spare Ribs were nice.Mains:Beef fillet with mushroom sauce and Steak Italiano. Both great mains, decent portion, really tasty. Also liked there different side options eg chips or mashed potatoe or salad or cooked veges. <br/>Dessert:Warmed Chocolate cake with cream and berry compote, to die for and a lovely way to finish the meal.<br/><br/>Great value for money, would definitely return.
Bianca Ratima
Overall good value on the $39 set menu for 3 courses. Decent serving sizes, service was a bit lacking with getting drinks and decor could do with a revamp. Good value
Long Lu
Very good value for a family event. Good service and friendly staff. Good portion with good food. Little bit salty for kids so you should ask for less salt for kids meals. Love this place and will return!
Sandy
Nice meal went for Father’s Day lunch was a little disappointed we couldn’t order from the lunch menu only the experience dinner menu was available. But meal was lovely. <br/><br/>
Jess
One of the worst dinners I have had in a long time. To start with we waited to be seated for at least 10 minutes although they didnt seem busy, there was plenty of staff around. My partner and I both ordered Filet Mignon, which was terrible. The steak itself was meant to be medium but some parts were completely rare and not eatable for me, the mushroom sauce tasted like a gravy packets with some mushrooms cut in half through it and to top it off the cauliflower was raw. The only part of the meal that was ok was the fries! Service itself was average. Really disappointing way to spend my Friday with my fiance. Wouldn't reccomend.
Carmelia Ng
I come here only when my mum suggests it. She loves this place! Nice restaurant with a lovely but small outdoor area. Good variety with food, could work on the vegetarian options but no biggie. I've always had a pleasant experience here. Staff are friendly and helpful and pricing is ok with the amount of food you get.
Denise Edwards
My family and I visited this restaurant at the earlier time of 5.30 last evening. I am appalled to say it has deteriorated somewhat since my last visit<br/>Atmosphere was dull, decor in need of some serious TLC and the meals were very ordinary for what I believe was an extraordinary price. Good food at a good price.....defiantly not!!! Won't be returning.
Jmo
Great value for your money. The food is tasty and well presented. Service is friendly and they were accommodating when we asked to move to another table. It’s a pity that the decor is really dated because I’m sure they would attract more patrons.

We were back for dinner recently.  It was a good family restaurant.Spacious and pleasant.  Service was normal.  This time we opted for <br/>the set menu.  The food was tasty and the portion was reasonable. We enjoyed the meal.<br/>If you are looking for a good Western meal, you should try thisrestaurant.

This place needs some renovation or something to lighten up the place. Its like a gloomy castle inside. The man was nice and showed us to our seat and we ordered our drinks straight away.<br/>Entree ordered the garlic bread and the ribs.<br/>The bread was so soggy im not sure how that happens so I tried to hide the soggyness (is that even a word) by dipping it into the ribs sauce. Didnt quite work. The ribs were really small, i know its an entree but damn were they riblets? The sauce did not work for me was too sweet and quite runny.<br/>Main ordered the beef burger and my partner ordered the lamb shank. Now they had a great deal $15 burger n beverage deal, the burger was great!! Absolutely great. Huge portion im a kiwi so i love all the toppings that were inside. The onion rings and chips were a great hit as well!!! It was so good that my partner even enjoyed it so i gave him my other half as the burger was massive.<br/>I really enjoyed the lamb shank was also really great but the burger stood out more for me.<br/>
Sarah
Can't give any compliments on the food however, the customer service is horrible.  My family and I had booked in a week before mothers day where the woman who was working the counter said that we would be able to use our voucher so that was alright but when it came to mothers day the lady at the desk turned us away because our voucher could not be used on mothers day so we left and decided to ring up later to talk when we tried to find out what had happened she hung up on us and was extremely rude and self-righteous.  Sadly,we will not be going even though the food looked and sounded amazing, the customer service is bad.
Mari
Had a wonderful dinner of lamb shank and mash and my daughter had scotch filet with chips and veges. Happy with the portion size and costs. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in and although we booked online they didn’t have it but they gave us a table anyway. Absolutely fantastic services and we will definitely be going back again.
Aulaga Zombie-killer Kini
Awesome food and fast service! Even better staff, very welcoming! Very accommodating to a big groups. I recommend coming here for all occasions.
Lisa Hoffman
Had dinner here last week...had the set menu and was really surprised at how good the food was...will definitely return. We have some big eaters in our family who were a bit dubious as to whether or not the set menu would satisfy, but before dessert was served we were all full. The desserts were great too!
Kim Saunders
A group of 15 I think went to Tony's on the 24/2 just as a social catch up ,we were seated in the bar area to wait for  most of the party to come. We then got shown to the table that was booked when most of us were there. Our waitress Jessica came and introduced herself to us and helped us out with our orders. She is a lovely friendly girl and shared a few laughs with us. Especially as my friend wanted her burger meat cremated. Every single one of us was impressed with our food and dessert. I love the fact that we each got an individual bill which made things so much easier for me as a host....and all my friends thought this was a brilliant idea. So much so a few of us suggested they sell this idea to other restaurants. The banoffee pie that I had and many of my friends did also , it wasn't to sickly as most of them are and you can't usually eat the whole thing..the only thing I did think and it was only my thoughts I'm sure is perhaps there was to much cream as it came with cream on the side to but that is the only niggle I had.<br/><br/>The setting was great lots of room for big parties.. beautiful set up for the table in the middle with the candelabra etc. Our table was so impressed with Jessica we all put some money together to give her a tip :) I wish her well with  her paramedic training.<br/><br/>I will be forever puzzled how I know the duty manager who btw is very friendly to. In fact the whole lot were.<br/>Many of my party said they'd be keen to go back  again.

If I could give 0 stars I would bloody terrible service. Told 25 min wait so we waited turned into 45min got to our table ordered drinks took 15min b4 we got our drinks and asked the waiter how long will food take he said not that long because they were starting to get less busy asked for water that never came. Finally got our appetizers asked what the wait time was for mains waiter checks and then says sorry looks like a long wait because we are really busy... did you even check the first time? Had we known how long we wouldn't have ordered or eaten in the first place. We ended up leaving guy said he would discount our 2 drinks and 2x appetizers $48 <br/><br/>Was so looking forward to this place.<br/><br/>If you are busy or expecting to be busy maybe train your staff properly or get more people in so you can cope or just tell your customers what the problem is.<br/>Even fb messaged and asked about whether to book an just told to walk in after 5.30pm.<br/>Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant.
Hansi Dissanayake
Awesome family vibes here, lovely staff, waitress was very accommodating. I ordered the market fish with salad and chips. Very generous portion of fish, would have liked more seasoning but it was very juicy. I also ordered a margarita, very refreshing. Overall good experience :)
Nina08
Recently dined here and was very impressed! Have been here a couple of times in the last few years but this time I really loved it! Dined with a large group and we had the $39 set menu, my first thought was that it’s going to be small portions and I wasn’t sure on the food quality. I choose the seafood chowder for the entree, beef fillet for the main and banofee pie for dessert! The portions were massive, the food was so tasty, steak cooked perfectly. I even tried my partners food and it was just as good he had the ribs, slow cooked ribs and banofee pie. The service was good food came in a reasonable amount of time. Place is still a little dated but I liked it! Can’t wait to go back here! Thanks team at Tony’s :)
Romeo
Had the $19.90 all you can eat ribs and wedges......ribs were delish and the meat fell off the bone! Wedges were always served fresh n hot, need more sour cream to wedge ratio though, just so I don't have to keep asking and feeling like a pain. Service and staff we brilliant
Michael N Elena
Well the atmosphere there is ok, we were seated in a very low light area, we were explained how the dining works with their ribs, now we received our ribs, at first it was wow , but when we got stuck into it, you could tell it was boiled and the really thick bbq sauce thAt was poured over it was just over powering. But the wedges were ok, you can't go wrong with wedges. But the ribs were seriously over rated. I only had one serving, and could not even finish it because it was sickening with the over powering sauce. I would have done if better at home myself. It ended up being overcooked , and slightly tough. It wasn't falling of the bone or melting in your mouth, you could say if you want your jaw exercised come to this restaurant. I will definitely not be recommending this place ever. So disappointing along with the price seriously. Never coming back.
Renee Blake
OMG loved the food, atmosphere and the staff here! Was not disappointed! <br/><br/>Steve the waiter was AWESOME! Was so attentive that it was like we were they only ones there. <br/><br/>Definitely will be back! Especially for the burger and rib nights!<br/><br/>Thanks for a wonderful experience!
Josie
Great place to go for family outings! It’s very nice. You get a good sized meal for what you pay and the staff are very attentive. Heaps of parking too
Sarah D
Always great food, Cooked to preference.<br/>Awesome specials for weekdays.<br/>Lovely family-friendly restaurant <br/><br/> Customer Service 6/10<br/> Taste and quality of Food 8/10<br/> Price of Meal 8/10<br/>

This place was good but some of the things we ordered weren't as great. For example the chicken fettuccine and the burger. I enjoyed the service and the place . Just wasn't as great. Also ribs were over done.
'Cara Lena
Tonys is awesome!!! <br/>Staff always on their game ;)<br/>Food yummy.<br/>Loving the specials.... <br/>Specially Monday night burger combo at $15. $39 menu is excellent value for money, highly recommend. Even Thursday night all you can eat ribs is brilliant. <br/>BEST Banoffee pie in Auckland!
Re Che
Had a nice family dinner there in school holiday. Kids eat for free that was a win ! Good and price were ok. Nothing fancy but a nice cozy restaurant out west
Sandy Wang
had the pork rip buffet<br/>it was valuable i guess<br/>price is reasonable taste is great<br/>staff are friendly atmosphere is not bad around this area.<br/><br/>i would def would go back and<br/>kill the pork ribs again ! <br/>
Brooke
Have been here a couple of times and the food never fails. I always leave feeling super full and satisfied. They have some good deals, meaning that you can get quite a bargain if you look out for one. The steak is always cooked how I want it, and the desserts are awesome and homely.
Jade.nicholas
I came here earlier on in the year with my family when the "All you can eat ribs" was once a month. I enjoyed the ribs, service was great, but the place seemed too dark, definitely needs a revamp. <br/><br/>A few months after our visit, my partner and a few friends went back for the ribs only to be let down by the poor service! My partner told me he had gone to the counter to pay for all the meals, only to be ignored. He was the only one waiting at the desk and the lady obviously knew he was waiting to be served yet she ignored him. So he waited patiently, but then before a big group/family reached the desk, the lady had already greeted them, waiting to take their bill. This was all while my partner had been standing there, waiting!!! I was so angry when he came home and told me. He was waiting to pay his bill after a good night, but she couldn't care less! Instead, she only paid attention to this big family who probably had an expensive bill which is all she cared about! <br/><br/>So, after hearing about that I have not been back there! This is very poor customer service!

Our first and last visit. Staff were kind of okay. Food - unfortunately very very mediocre (almost hospital grade) for the prices they charge. <br/>Beverages: If ordering beer, best to clarify if you want it from the bottle or the tap. Mind you, we weren't given the option so we can only assume that the option exists as they have a bar with beer on tap? Didn't get the correct beer we ordered but oh well ..... Water was never offered throughout the meal probably because we ordered 1 beer?? Hmmm never experienced that anywhere else. <br/>Starters: nothing fantastic. Okayish quality.<br/>Mains: a piece of 'steamed' cauliflower with a bit of cheese on top and 3 little slithers of 'steamed' carrots is their definition of vegetables that got served with the mains dishes we ordered! Our seafood dish could not taste any frozen if you tried.😣 <br/>Dessert: All these years I have never ever known anyone to stuff up creme bruleĂ© until the time we had it here lol <br/>Tableware: Big chips on our dinner plates - not something the server or chef could have missed. Very off putting straightaway.<br/>Interior: Decor looked quite tired and could do with a major spruce up to add some life to the place

The past two weeks, I came with my family for all you can eat ribs special. Enjoyed both times coming here. We arrived after 7.30pm the first time we tried and were advised about the 40 minute wait. We didn't mind as we were super eager to try. The second time, we arrived earlier and were seated almost immediately :) <br/>Awesome service from the team, the waiters and front of house kept checking up on our table (and the others of course) to make sure everything was in place. Our table was served within minutes.<br/>The ribs were succulent, falling off the bone, if you haven't tried it yourself you must! I had thought I wouldn't like the plum sauce but boy I was wrong. The portion is huge! I know it was all you can eat but I could only finish one plate and it was my first meal of the day. <br/>The wedges were nice - hot and crispy. We had plenty of bowls on our table, great side to accompany the ribs.<br/>I also had banoffee for dessert, it was a very large portion and tasted amazing! Sadly, I couldn't finish it as it was too sweet for my liking. If you have a sweet tooth, it'll be just the thing for you. Everyone else ordered cheesecake and warm fudge cake. Assuming they all loved it because the plates were clean a few minutes after dessert was served.<br/>All in all, great service and quality food. Keep it up, Tony's!

Came here for lunch and ordered the Fish and Chips, Wedges and Sour Cream and the Banoffee Pie. The lady who served us was really nice and friendly! The fish and chips were really nice, cooked perfectly-almost like the ones from your local takeaway! The highlight of this meal were definitely the wedges and sour cream! The wedges were so crunchy as soon as I took a bite from them. Dipping it in sour cream just gave it that extra flavour. The banoffee pie was marvellous, I loved the biscuit layering at the bottom! The toffee sauce was super sweet for me, but left me squealing on the inside. This place is worth a try, I totally recommend their wedges with sour cream and their desserts!

Always been a favourite! However as of recently, the meal portions are not as they use to be. đŸ€” Great food, the Banoffee is a killer dessert, can never finish it! Staff are friendly & pricing is reasonable. We go for the 3x course Specials Menu. The ribs are worth it!!

My partner bought me here and I made a bad decision in ordering the fish and chips, it is like frozen pieces from a box.<br/><br/>Next time I think I will order a steak!

Came here with some family to celebrate my pet dog Margaret's birthday. Ordered the seafood chowder and market fish with cous cous, one word - DELICIOUS!!! Had a lovely waitress who served us very quickly and was always on hand for topping up the chardonnay!!! Overall, such a great experience I look forward to returning soon!!<br/>PS - Margaret loved the leftovers - PERFECT birthday treat!!!!!!!

First time here and I should say, my experience was awesome! đŸ‘đŸ» The food was amazing and with a reasonable price. The reason why I didn't give a perfect rating coz of the serving time. It took us more than 30 minutes to wait for my dish. Though we have been told already that the menu I ordered would prolly take up to 20-25 minutes. The next table has there food already. Might be our orders take a lil bit longer to cook. But overall experience, twas great! In addition, the staff who served us was so friendly and great customer service đŸ‘đŸ»âœŠđŸ»

Came in on Easter Sunday, ordered the Ribs as a Main and then the waitress returns to tell us that they don't have any due to the Easter break, why advertise if you don't have it and yet you have a Ribs special during the month!!! So we ordered the Lamb shank for mains, the entree ribs were nice although presentation could have been better than just a slab on a plate and then the Lamb shank came out, the Shank was very tender but then it's like they had opened a can of sliced tomatoes and thrown it on top! Dessert was nice but overall the service was mediocre and the mains disappointing especially when we heard from word of mouth.

Tonys Restaurant Henderson in my opinion the best traditional Restaurant/Steakhouse in West Auckland, the best way I can put it is that this place has been 'tried and tested' its not a'Pop up' trendy place, and it doesnt need to be. Tonys constantly delivers great quality cuts of meat always cooked to perfection, with a full menu also, only problem I have is that I cant ever go passed ordering any thing other than the the Scotch filet, My family has been dining here for 10 years plus, for both casual lunches and special occasions aways look forward to getting back there when im over due for that scotch fillet!!, Support your local WEST Auckland restaurants Thanks TONY'S Cheers KURT

Really love going here. Set menu is fantastic to plan for those on a budget.   Great food and service.  The staff are pretty patient when we take little ones.  Love this place, refurbished nice atmosphere.  My go-to restaurant for family and friends gathering.  And yes great tasting steaks....but i am gonna try the All you can eat ribs night :)

Have been here twice, food is always average as is service & decor, I guess the Westies love it? Second visit we asked to take home leftover steak, when we got home looked inside the paper bag to see they had literally tipped the plate into the bag steak, mashed potatoes & peas, this was without any 'incidents' with the staff...

Highly impressed with the quality of meals off the standard menu. Meals ordered : braised pork belly in ju, dino steak in bone. Off the kids menu: hotdog and chips.<br/>1. Excellent kids meal choices to choose from. 7 year old daughter is a chicken nugget eater and never finishes a meal. Tonight: she polished a complete kids meal.<br/>2. Steak cooked to perfection, excellent quality cut, juicy and tasted like a perfect steak full in flavour. 10/10 compared to restaurants sampled in the city outside sebel hotel.<br/>3. Braised pork belly. Simply devine! Compliments to the chef! 10/10 melt in the mouth, fresh, succulent, juicy and flavour throughout the quality piece of meat to its devine pure crispy flavoured pitch perfect crackling. Most impressed with first time dining at Tony's for quality meal worth the price when compared to high end restaurant's dining experience in Auckland city. <br/>Appreciate the communication by wait staff as to the half hour wait in the pork belly. Definitely worth the wait in fantastic meal.<br/>Garlic bread instant hit with 7 year old. Finally great to see a chef that appreciates a decent and proper flavoursome garlic bread that isnt slapped with boring. <br/>Good customer service. Will return.

(Please read the end for second review - hence the 1.5 rating) <br/>Firstly, we dined here due to word of mouth. I have had numerous amounts of friends give me positive reviews about Tony's. For west Auckland, Tony's restaurant & Bar certainly raised the bar. <br/><br/><br/>Positives:<br/>Good portions<br/>Great range to choose from on the menu; a set menu to choose from which is a 3 course dinner special for $39 and their regular menu which has no limitations to what you choose but is not part of the $39 special. <br/>Spaced out tables and chairs with optional choice of separate dining from others.<br/>Welcoming and warm staff<br/><br/>Negatives:<br/>My partner chose a huge steak which was undercooked on the larger part of the steak. (We were forgiving for the fact We knew how hard it is to actually cook a huge steak like that perfectly) ON THE UPSIDE my partner did mention it to the waitress who came back and told us the chef on duty was willing to give us complimentary dessert because of it - GREAT SERVICE. <br/><br/><br/>Summary:<br/>Excellent value for money. <br/>Starter: Bread & dips $12.50 <br/>Mains: Dino steak $35 & Braised pork belly $31<br/>Desserts: Clafoutis & Banoffee cream pie $12.50 each<br/>Delicious food & warm setting<br/>Excellent service <br/><br/>Verdict: Would I come back again<br/><br/>Yes! ( we did and we wish we hadn't)<br/><br/>SECONC REVIEW:<br/><br/>2nd time returning started off okay, then once entree and mains were done we we're eager to order dessert waited for about 15 minutes for service and got overlooked by waiters even whilst sticking our necks out trying to get attention. Even worst they serve both couples around us and we're able to get their desserts to them. When we thought we finally got service we heard one of the waiters say to the other no, let her clean her own tables - talking about the other waiter who was im assuming was assigned to our table. Because we finally had enough (waited 20 minutes for dessert) we got up and paid for both the entree and mains at the main counter near entrance. We were asked if our meals were fine which we both honestly said yes to then my partner bought up not being asked about dessert or served for which the lady (manager I assume) said the hot food is prioritised first which we didn't believe. I must say because the other couples ordered dessert too and got them in good time. We were willing to pay for x3 desserts (inc daughters dessert) they missed out and we felt as though there was lack of care because we felt as though the ordeal was just brushed off. I have no idea about the dynamics of the team but they surely need to reflect on how to work well as a team if they want to strive to achieve good customer service and long term customers. Quite disappointed. Maybe we will come back but it's not in our short term goals for now.

Great service, food came out quite promptly too. The fried foods were cooked to perfection, their wedges are 10/10, pricey but worth it. We had the beef and bacon burger and the chicken and brie burger and both were equally tasty, we were impressed by the big juicy genuine meat sizes in them. Crumbed scallops were nice for a started and the halloumi salad is great, just needs more beetroot. My only low would be the atmosphere, its a bit dull and boring. We would definitely come back.
Farah Abid
We went to this restaurant many times and every time we go there we have a great time, food and service were great. We had spare ribs for starters and Tony's special beef, Kofta with Tapoleh for the main and cheesecake , their famous Sweet pie for dessert. All the food was great and tasty except the Tapoleh wasn't what it should be, lake flavour and missing some important ingredients because I am from middle East so I know what it should taste like. But in general it was great night and very enjoyable, definitely will come back again.

Had an absolutely lovely meal here. Not sure of our waitress's name but she was awesome. She had a tattoo of a stop watch on one arm and a compass on the other of that helps identify her<br/>

This is our go to steak restaurant in the culinary wasteland of west Auckland. It's old school in design & decor, which I find part of its charm. Reminiscent of my waitressing days at the Hungry Horse in Elliot street 😂 Great service, consistently good food. No surprises good or bad, exactly what I expect from a steak meal. Steaks cooked as ordered, seasoned well, tasty sides. Prices slightly over what I'd expect for the establishment but no real drama. It's here or La Porchetta out these ways - go for the late 70's vibe that Tony's offers instead of the generic, bland franchise feel of Porchetta.

Went here for my 21st birthday dinner with my family and some friends. The food was mediocre and not that great, i had the pasta and it was tasteless, my mother had the fish of the day and it was over cooked and dry. The service was okay they were slow on bring out the food, however there was 35 of us so that could have been why. however as we went to pay the lady at the front desk was rude and very uninviting, she made the whole night turn bad. over all i wouldn't go back to this restaurant.

We arrived earlier then the rest of our party on Sunday queens birthday weekend for a birthday dinner. Great inviting atmosphere and lovely front of house manager. But it ends there. Food was shocking. I wanted to ask the chef if they actually liked their job because it did not show in any of the dishes presented. Burnt steak not cooked to our liking. Raw fish. Under cooked cauliflower. Packet powdered potatoes. Undressed salad. Desserts came out without cream but looking around restaurant everyone else got cream except us. The waitress that served us started off fine but became unprofessional very quickly. She said she had yelled at the chef for the mistakes that had come to our table. There was no need for her to say that. Overall. Pretty shit. The birthday girl ended up with two shit meals and decided not to eat at all. Not happy.

Good value for money $35 for a 3 course meal. The pork belly was perfectly cooked with the skin nice and crispy and the meat so succulent and juicy, and that banoffee pie?? F**king delicious!! EDIT: It's now $39 but that's still decent for a 3 course meal lol

Came in last night and was really disappointed. For a resturant that says they are vegetarian friendly. On the set menu there is only one option for starter and main . Wedeges for starter and a cold halomie salad for main. The pumpkin wasnt cooked all the way through. And the halomie cheese wasnt even grilled raw chuncks of what tasted like plastic. Desert was a bit of a miss too the banannas were over ripe in the pie and just had whipped cream and a thick hard base. My friends all said there king fish was over cooked and dry . Never been to a resturant that before you sit down has rules om your plate for the set menu. No meal sharing . And no dogie bags

Went tonight for Mother's Day dinner, 4 adults 2 kids was monstrous portions and the food was beautiful, def go back again!! We enjoyed ourselves

I have been here many times and the food has always been great. And $35 for a 3 course meal with big portions. Will definitely be back in the near future

Went here tonight for my partners delayed bday. Everything was amazing as always when it comes to Tony's! You will never leave that place hungry I can tell you that much. Had the $35, bookings essential menu. Chowder for starters which is amazing, Scotch fillet béarnaise with fries and salad for main also a big hit. And then the all so legendary Tony's banoffee pie. That pie is absolutely TO DIE FOR! Ordered two coffees with that and here comes the twist why I'm not giving this a full 5 point. Terrible coffee! Told the lady at the end I'm not willing to pay for the coffees since they where undrinkable. She then a bit cheeky said "well where no baristas here"....but you do have a proper barista machine so I don't know why the staff is not trained better to do coffees. That sucks. But since everything else is great I left the place satisfied.

Had a great meal here with friends and family! Food was absolutely delious. Kids were catered to quite well with colouring and plenty of menu options. Entrees and kids food was served quickly waiting a little bit longer for the adults mains the filet mignon was superb! Could have done with a few more wait staff however as busy as they were for a Tuesday evening the staff seemed to cope really well.<br/>I will be going back to Tonys great food and we'll priced!

On the 26 December 2015 went for dinner to Tony's restaurant with work colleagues as a festive & seasonal gathering . I was appalled they got our staff to wait 20 minutes before we were seated at out reserved table . I went up to the front desk and the manager said she will check how is the kitchen ad she doesn't want an overflow . As a patron that's not my concerns. My first order was a mojito reply from waitress didn't have certain Alcohol to make a mojito neither mint asked for sex on the beach cocktail , no spirits as well. I was more than disgusted , frustrated & horrified as it being festive period not much to offer to patrons . I thereafter asked the waitress what has management got to offer or to compensate for not having ingredients or Alcohol patrons requested , waitress reply that's the way the cookie crumbles . I was really disturbed , disgusted with such rude arrogant reply from waitress . I said to waitress your customer service poor. I told the waitress I will not attend Tony's restaurant . The tables were not even cleaned on time glasses were just left for a lengthy period , not cleared . I am a patron that is always eating at various restaurants and the service deplorable . I will not recommend Tony's restaurant for the appalling service during festive season ! I was a very unhappy patron that my company had to pay a huge bill for such poor service , disgusting customer service from waitress & poor management not checking the stock & replenishing stock at any given time. I was a very unhappy patron going to Tony's Restaurant as I organised the dinner function for staff to attend . My colleagues were also not happy with the service and not having to provide with alcohol that were on the drinks list. Disgruntled customer !

We celebrated my daughters 21st at Tony's restaurant. It was enjoyed by my family and friends who attended this special occasion. We invited 120 guest. We would like thank Lisa and her wonderful staff , to the chefs for the lovely food and to the waitresses for their patient and wonderful smiles.Thank you again Lisa for everything.<br/><br/>Mary@Jim

We got given a voucher for all you can eat ribs for our birthdays and chose to use it in a Sunday night. <br/><br/>The staff and food were all amazing. The ribs were really really yummy. Had a honey soy sort of sauce on them rather than the usual BBQ sauce you seem to get. Kind of reminded us of Tony Roma's if you've been. Wedges were perfectly crunchy on the outside & soft on the inside. Bread and dips were also really yummy. Came with basil pesto, sun dried tomato and hummus. <br/><br/>They had a big square table for 12/14 people which was kind of in it's own area. It was a nice to see a big square family table in a restaurant rather than the really long ones you normally see, where you'd have to yell at people down the other end. <br/><br/>The only down fall was the restaurant was a bit worn, cosmetic only. With some new tables and chairs it was be perfect! That said we Would definitely go back again, even if paying full price because the food was worth it. <br/><br/>PS sorry for sideways photos, don't know what went on here 😕

Great place to have a family dinner or a get together with friends. Kids menu offers a combo with desert drink and activity pack which keeps the little tykes busy. Portions are good. Prices are reasonable.
Pauline Bennett
Great venue, great service, great food. We decided not to have an entree as we thought we would have dessert, but the portions for the mains we ordered (spare ribs and the sirloin steak) had us beat ! We will be back to try the banoffie pie !
Erica Whyte
Had a set menu. The first course was to large so couldn't enjoy the main. The main had under cooked veg, a large serving of mashed potatoes. Wasnt much musroom in the sauce the chicken was cooked perfectly.<br/>The desert was good but again to big and had to stuff it in. The vibe was good and had good service from the host. Was easy to pay on a different bill.
Felicity Williams
Okay so we went here for a surprise birthday party, and it was arranged we would all be purchasing the set menu they are most popular for, you get a starter, main and a dessert for $35.00. the options were quite good and when came to the table they did look pretty good. for starters we had the seafood chowder, spare ribs and prawn salad and they looked and tasted great. mains we ordered the Pork belly and the <br/>Filet Mignon. the pork was cooked nice but the piece was slightly small, the Filet Mignon was super good steak cooked med as i requested, lovely buttery mash but the orange flavoured carrots i could have passed on, i think a garlic buttery herb veg would have been a nicer accompany. Chips are really good too. Dessert we had the Banoffee Cream Pie which had nice flavours however personally too much cream and very rich. the cheesecake looked really good and i think next time i would go for that. lovely attentive friendly staff. they could use another couple of bar staffs and a eftpos machine at the bar, it got a bit annoying having to go back and forth to the main desk just to use the card. the only down fall in my opinion would be the decor, the main building is very out dated and dark, they deifinatly need to lighten up the walls with a nice paint job. The table and chairs are modern and comfy.
Amanda Jane Prior Williams
They were full of mainly large tables on a Wednesday night. Two floor staff who also looked after the bar meant long waits all the way through. Food as part a Groupon deal meant three courses for two. The entrees were lovely ribs and chowder although no bread served with the chowder which I found strange... Mains arrive both pork belly his was crisp and great mine was flabby and soft. Very disappointed I try to flag down a staff member but no joy so I take the offending plate of rubber to the kitchen where they all seem to be having a smoko break. I wait with plate in hand and when the chefs arrive back through the back door I ask them if my pork is correct. They apologise and yes on returning to my seat I do get served a wonderful meal but man did I have to work for it! We would still return as service was friendly although hurried and when the food arrived was generally "good".
Shelley Bedggood
Tony's comfortably seated myself and 17 other family members. We opted for the $35 set menu, and we're more than satisfied with each and every course! I hade the seafood chowder for starter. The pork belly for main, the crackle was amazing! The banoffee pie for dessert. Our waiter was very polite and helpful. The whole environment of the restaurant is welcoming and cosy. They also catered for our children with a varied menu $17.50 (main, soft drink, dessert, kids pack). Overall I give this restaraunt a 5/5 for food and service. I left Tony's overly satisfied with a smile on my face. Will DEFINATELY be back soon,
Selina Chan
Tonys is always a favourite and known for its banoffee. <br/>I find the main courses decent and portions  generous. Friendly staff too and just general all round good family restaurant.
Peter Hpesoj-atamut
I have been to Tony's once for a staff lunch, I may have caught the chef on an off day because my steak was tough, not what one expects from a steakhouse. However the waitress was lovely and tended to our needs quite fast. Our starters were perfect.
Room 12
We've been to Tony's lots of times in the last 3 years and have usually had a really good experience, However our most recent dinner was a shocker! My seafood and steak kebab was ordered medium and came out with the steak completely blue and the scallop raw! The bacon wrapped around the scallop was barely warm and certainly not cooked to the point of safety. I asked for the meal to be cooked longer (which I hate doing) and received it back a few minutes later - colder, no more cooked and with several bits missing. Gutted! Worst of all was the response when we tried to discuss the issues with the manager, who talked over the top of us and insisted that the chef "never"got it wrong and that uncooked was "our medium". We won't be rushing back - there's too many great options in Auckland to bother with crap food and a hostile attitude.
Leata Leilani Purcell
We went to Tony's today , I ended up cancelling my booking , I booked for 1pm but they put 1:30pm, worst customer service ever, she was racist, I walked in and asked her I made a booking at 1pm she said "there's a lot of people waiting so by the time I sit MY people It'l be 1:20pm and there should be another table available by then for YOU people. Just coz I'm Samoan doesn't mean I'm poor I have more money then that lady at customer service can made in a year. Never ever going there..
Tiara Ducat-Tither
Best ribs I've had by far! Whenever I go I get the $35 deal and always get the ribs for a entree! I love their banoffee and chocolate cake for deserts and always struggle to eat it after the mains but it's too good to waste it. And there mains are just fab. I've always left feeling full and happy with meals.

Went to Tony's last night for a 21st dinner. There were 20 or so of us. The table which we were given was a tad too small of an area. However, they moved us to a much better spot when asked. The staff were nice, a little sassy, but nice. Meals were out fairly quick which was great. I ordered the fillet mignon (m/r) . It was beautiful, cooked to perfection. Was a quite a good experience overall and would go again :)

I have been going to Tony's now for 30 years.  Last night we had a party of 50+  food was great, staff were so helpful and how did they get us all eating at the same time, awesome.  The chef needs an award because we were not the only group there.  No complaints the price ($35) was remarkable.  Still talking about our night out today just great.
Helen Fruean
Was at Tony's restaurant in Henderson just last night and had the worst experience ever!  We waited for more then two hours for the whole Special Set Menu to be served and ended up having to take the dessert home because we couldn't wait any longer.  To wait that long just for the food to taste like it had been zapped in a microwave is ridiculous.Entrees:  Spare ribs were crispy burnt and black/dry on the corners then drowned in sauce, what was supposed to be Cheese and bacon wedges turned out to be just Wedges with the sour cream & salsa on side bowls to fill up the plate, Seafood Chowder was full of chopped up celery more then any seafood and not very creamy at all.Mains:  Lamb shanks fell away easy off the bone but again drowned in yuck sauce that killed it, the spinach and mash again zapped in a microwave.  Chicken supreme was dry and plonked on the plate with the sides looking like they were recycled from a previous meal, Eye fillet Mignon was probably the only best looking meal but failed in a 'well done request'.Childrens Menu:  Bangers 'n Mash was disgusting the sausages tasted off!  peas looked and tasted like they were still frozen, mash had some kind recycled soy sauce spread over it, Ice-cream Sundae looked like mock cream with a line of chocolate syrup. The Manager on duty at the time came over and demanded we pay for drinks on top of the Set Menu because this was part of the conditions, this was addressed after we were half way through our meal!! Very unprofessional in front of our whole family blaming and cursing the waiter and scared our kids that she stood over, she apologized after but doesn't excuse us having to put up with the whole ordeal for more then 2 hours!!  Disappointed.  Especially after we found out the Owner is also the Head Chef.

Good value for money out west.

I had lamb shanks which was of very low quality and didn't taste much like lamb.. partner also wasn't happy with his steak. Will not be dining here again
Nathan Dunn
Group of 12 of us dined last night. Had the set menu, food was fantastic. Waitress remembered who ordered what food and drinks (not that common in NZ restaurants). Highly recommend, will definitely be back.
Ashleigh
Booked for the 3 course meal last Friday for my birthday we had a table of 12. As it was very busy and our group was the only group on time we had our orders rushed forward. Even with a set menu the owner happily made a vegetarian option for one person. Only downsides where some meals where huge and some tiny. The steak was perfect well mine was others complained of sizing differences, I guess that's for cooking time. Dessert was good the fudge cake a little dry needs more sauce. Other then that very fast and efficient service will be back for sure.
Dollice Chua
Beef fillet for lunch ...portion is good but quality of steak seems compromised! Used to be lovelier...now the steak doesn't taste as fresh for some reason. Not sure why. Quite puzzled.
R & A
To be honest I think the steak needs a bit of work and am unsure of if I caught bad luck with a chef that was on at that time. Mushroom sauce was gloopy and just.... gross. Meat was not as tender as we were hoping.<br/><br/>Previous week had two chicken dishes (stuffed with banana) and were fantastic which got us to come in this time and experiment more however were let down.<br/><br/>I like to think that steak dishes will 99% give you an indication of the standard of food. So simple yet hard to pull off at a satisfactory level.<br/><br/>Service was ok.<br/><br/>May go back to give it another go, will see.
Fleur Peps
I have been coming here since I was 10. We had family dinners here all the time when I was growing up and as an adult now I still return and am never disappointed. The staff are lovely and everything is well priced. My only complaint would be the sauce the lamb shanks are served with, it’s a strong taste and just not overly pleasant, but that's just my opinion. I still give 5 stars and will keep coming back
Tiffany Miller
I have been here twice now &amp; will not be going back. The first time the food was really good even with a massive wait time on the food. We went back the second time as we could not find elsewhere and thought the food was nice. I wish we hadn't between overcooked greasy steaks, entree brought out with mains, drinks that had to be taken back because they were poor, long wait times with people after us being served kids running around the place and rude staff we will be going elsewhere next time. It is a pity as it was good enough the 1st time to go back.
Sandra
Have been 5 times this year consistently great steaks absolutely love the filet and ribs and the best ever banoffee and blueberry cheesecake. The portion sizes are excellent value for money you remember what you ate the memory forever etched in your brain and I love the rustic look. Fav tipple Long Island Iced Tea! The staff are friendly and welcoming the only feedback for them is when you are really busy keep your happy face on I love your restaurant &amp; the great dinner deals :)
Jack
Great place, great service and great food. Huge portions and awesome atmosphere. Shame the place is looking a little worn and tired.
Jay C
5 stars for a 5 star evening. Chef &amp; menu are first class! Staff were friendly &amp; welcoming. Our meals... OMG!!! Huge, mouth watering &amp; making me hungry again just thinking about it as I type this. I had the T bone steak (which makes the T bone steak from Denny's look like a funny bone) &amp; my wife had the chicken, both meals were just off the scale. Melts like butter. Excellent atmosphere &amp; truly a must dine at if you're out West. Take a big appetite when you do, as you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend &amp; look forward to our next dining experience at Tony's Restaurant &amp; Bar.

Loved this restaurant, went there for my boyfriends birthday where we had the 3 course meal. It was delicious, worth every dollar. Would recommend everyone to go there an try it, especially the ribs and steak.
Jennifer
Chicken filled with banana - No sign of any banana. Served with a really nice mango salsa but on top of winter vege's with cheese sauce ? Odd. In fact the pork belly, chicken supreme and banana chicken all had the exact same vege's which were very watery.<br/>Staff were very friendly but there wasn't enough of them - taking nearly 20 minutes before anyone approached the table once we were seated. <br/>If the meals were $10 cheaper I wouldn't be complaining. I think when your charging nearly $30 a main there's a certain standard of food you expect and this didn't meet the mark.
Aaron Bennett
Went here again last night and had the $35 deal - IT WAS AWESOME. Can't recommend it highly enough!!<br/>You have to call and pre-book if you want the set menu deal though.<br/><br/>The young guy who served us, Colin was just brilliant. I've had service in 5 star hotels overseas that didn't match up to the service he delivered. Well done bud.<br/><br/>The only gripe was i ordered Well done steak and got a VERY bloody medium/rare piece served. I wasn't gonna send it back when I'm paying $35 for three courses though......<br/><br/>We've been here 5 times now.<br/><br/>The food however is always excellent! <br/>You SIMPLY MUST HAVE the Banoffee pie, it is just epic!!<br/><br/>Reminds me of Cobb &amp; Co in the 80's before they went to the dogs....<br/><br/>They have kids cocktails which my son loves and activity packs with crayons etc so he's not bored while waiting for food. $15 kids meal including Main, dessert and a drink (and activity pack) is great value.<br/><br/>Overall, really VERY good

6 of us went - we have been before - the meals were tasty and large with the pricing not outrageous - Service was excellent - we don't tip unless it is warranted but we did tip that night- will definately go again - excellent activity pack with childrens menu

Second time I had to go to Tony's because my friend wanted to go there. First time the "fish of the day" the fish was stale/old. I just hated the meal and was really upset that it I wasted my money. Lucky my companion ordered the same meal so agreed with me.<br/>I said I will never come back.<br/><br/>Last week my same mate was celebrating and I went there. Silly me ordered Seafood basket "if you can imagine a plate full of chips, two mussels crumbed the ones in bags at countdown, two crumbed calamari and about 4 inches long fish that tasted uncooked and prepared weeks ago" with a bowl of salad. I was simply disgusted, we paid $124.00 for the two meals, 4 pieces of spear ribs, drinks total waste of money. I even got told off by my mate for ordering fish when I know Tony's just don't do fish well.<br/>I have spoken to a few people now who agree this place is overpriced and not good food at all if you know what good food is. Nice place with good service, shame food is terrible and overpriced.....

Went there few weeks back for a birthday dinner, there was a group of 5 of us. All the meals were great, portions were good size too. No cake was organized but the waitress organized candles for her dessert which was a really nice touch! She was also very pleasant and very helpful! Been before with others and will be returning again!

We went to Tony's last night after reading great reviews and deciding it was a good option for our 6th anniversary dinner (the first time we have been out since having a baby four months ago). So, expecting a nice dinner, we arrived at 7:30 and waited expectantly.<br/>We waited a bit more and were ignored in the foyer. <br/>We waited a bit more and were told that they just needed to set some tables (?) and they would be with us in a few minutes.<br/>Well, still waiting, it didn't appear that any of the three staff (including the manager) were preparing tables for us and, given that the restaurant was empty of other parties, we found this unacceptable<br/>And so we left.<br/>A very disappointing experience. We will not return.<br/>This is probably a better function centre than a restaurant as they don't take bookings for groups under six and apparently don't cater for groups that don't book. <br/>Would love to be able to review the food but we didn't get a chance to order any.

Been here quite a few times. The food is always good, only had a problem with overcooking once and you cant blame them cos it was a full house that night. We didnt complain but Im sure if we had they would have put it right. Always good food and good service with reasonable prices.

We've eaten here for 5 times now and it is always very pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the neighbourhood.<br/><br/>We go to Tony's also for lunch and they have affordable menu and the portions are huge.

We waited over and hour for our meals which were overpriced and very poor quality. <br/>Chicken burger was cold and clearly had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while as the sauces had soaked all through the bread. Chicken was so tough it couldnt be bitten through. <br/>Seafood chowder was just soup with celery, minimal amounts of frozen and very small sized seafood.<br/>Spare ribs were good flavour but a lot of gristle on them.<br/>Overall poor service - we complained about the burger and chowder and didnt pay for the burger but person serving at counter criticised us for not saying anything to the waitress, ddespite the fact she was never around. We wont be going back there. Poor service, poor food.

I went out wIth a group of friends and had a really good night out, the atmosphere was nice and the wait time between meals was really good (not too brief and not too long).<br/>The meals everyone had were enjoyed whole heartedly. I would reccomend the bread and dip, amazing! The meal sizes were fantAstic and well worth their price. Tips if you plan on eating the ribs and dont have a big apetite share it with a friend or risk a beef coma!!

I returned to Tony's Restaurant &amp; Bar after a very poor experience a few weeks earlier, I must say I was impressed with the service and food on this occasion, and I shall be returning in the future, keep up the good work guys.

Hubby and I have been to Tonys a few times now and we love going there. The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed, homely you could say. The meals...man, do not eat anything before going there, they are huge!!!. And they are well priced. I love going here because I like home cooked type meals, I guess you could call it steakhouse/bar food/English pub type meals, and Tonys is all that. I haven't tried their desserts yet because I am soo full from the really yummy bread, to my main.<br/><br/>We are going there again next week, and will be going there more regular , so that we can try all the different things on the menu.... so far I have had the lamb shanks....mmmm, and twice now had the burger and chips..and twice now, I have not been able to finish it...it's soo huge ha ha. Thank you so much Tonys for always making our trip there so enjoyable!! ♄ ♄

I love Tony's..always go there, good food, reasonable prices, friendly and comfy atmosphere. GREAT BANOFFEE!<br/><br/>The lamb shanks with mash are my favourite - they give you generous portions and sometimes I can't finish. A good family restaurant.

An enjoyable informal lovely restaurant. It has been here for many years, and has enjoyable meals and relaxed friendly service. Perfect steak, cooked to perfection as you ask; they seem to find staff who enjoy the clientele they serve. We (and my daughter separately) have visited about monthly for many years to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and wonderful meals.<br/><br/>Recommended for a lovely and value-for-$(in today's times) very enjoyable meal. Great!

Was a bit skeptical but the atmosphere on a winters night was very nice. Obviously had a trainee waitress who didn't know what gluten free was, nor fish of the day, but had otherwise great service. The food was very tasty and well presented.

I went to Tony's for my birthday and it was lovely. I love how there is NO surcharge on Anzac day as this has always been an issue for myself. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The portions were huge and my steak was delicious.

I have been to Tonys 5 times 3times last year and twice this year, have had Dinner and Lunch. This place is excellent the service is friendly and proffessional the restaurant itself is spacious and cool especially in the last hot months we have had. There is a coolness in the air and the space at the tables is great. Being a larger person sometimes restaurant tables and chairs are a bit small but here there is elbow room and still more. The food, is devine the Carpetbag was cooked to perfection and the salads and vegetables are fresh tasty and delicious. The garlic bread is hot and tasty and the soup of the day is pure creamy delight.I dont eat desert so cant comment on that but no doubt like everything else it would be just perfect I am sure. The toilets are clean and smell clean and there is toilet paper :) After writing this I have decided where we will be eating tonight mmmmm lol<br/><br/>2000hrs. Just returned from dinner, once again great service excellent food.It was quite busy but the waiting staff always checking to see we were taken care of (we had a lovely young tall man tonite). Compliments to you and the chef.

My family and I have enjoyed eating out at Tony's over the years since we moved west. We cerebrated my 50th birthday there with the whole family and we have just celebrated my niece 21st birthday there on Saturday 16/10/10. <br/><br/>Tony's staff was very helpful and was able to fit the whole family and friends of 40 plus. We appreciate Tony's staff and dinners for putting up with our volume of noise. The food and the atmosphere was divinely delicious.<br/><br/>Thank you Tony and staff, 'WE WILL BE BACK"

A group of five went to Tony's for lunch. A warm welcome by the staff, who are friendly. Pork Belly was fantastic and a generous serve. And the beef burger with the tower of onion rings was huge. Will be back again for lunch and dinner.

Fantastic meal- steak was cooked to perfection, chicken was very tasty and the kis meal was gobbled up. Very good sized meals too and the service was friendly.

We are a group from North &amp; South who meet approx every 3-4 months to have a good get together. Knowing from the past how Tonys had been we went (all 11 of us with 2 children)for lunch on Saturday. We were not disappointed. Staff were most friendly and food was tops. Did not hear one bad comment about the meals. One commented who had the pork dish was "I would have been happy with half of the portion" but he ate it all and I'm picking as a local he will certainly be re visiting. Chris you have been there a long time, you have maintained the high standards you set many years ago and the presentation of meals has reached A+ . A nice place to go you won't be disappointed.

I've eaten here many times and I have always enjoyed the experience. The staff are friendly the food is good. The prices are fair, the atmosphere I like. The only negative for me is they bring you a drink and they never come back to give you a refill. It's like they think you only want one drink. But I guess it's good they aren't trying to get you drunk.

Love the ambience in this restaurant. The food is always great and servings are generous. We go for dinner regularly.
